Abstract

Mortise bowl (10) for furniture hinges, consisting of thin-walled sheet steel with a bowl part (12), which is to be fastened countersunk in a recess in the inside of a door wing and in the side walls (18) of which at least one bearing pin is retained for the purpose of mounting on the door wing members of a joint mechanism connecting the mortise bowl pivotably to a body attachment part, the particular end of the bearing pin to be retained engaging into a bore (22; 20) in the side wall (18) of the bowl part. The wall of the bowl part (12) is reinforced, in the region of the bore (22; 20) receiving the associated pin end, by means of a tab (26; 28) which is cut free out of the wall region adjoining the region of the bowl part (12) provided with the bore (22; 20) and which is bent round so as to bear in parallel against the region provided with the bore (22; 20). A bore (22; 20) aligned with the bore in the wall of the bowl part is provided for the bearing pin in the respective tab (26; 28).

Description

The invention relates to an insertion pot for furniture hinges made of thin-walled steel sheet with a pot part to be sunk in a recess in the inside of a door leaf, in the side walls of which at least one bearing pin for the storage on the door side of links of an insertion pot is pivotally connected to a carcase stop part connecting joint mechanism, the each end of the bearing pin to be held engages in a bore in the side wall of the pot part.

Instead of the previously used - in addition to plastic insert pots - almost exclusively used, made of a metal alloy processed in the die-casting process, preferably made of zinc die-casting, insert boxes are more recently made of sheet steel in a stamping and pressing process for reasons of material and manufacturing costs. There is a tendency towards increasingly thinner wall thicknesses for the sheet material used, what is also possible in principle because sheet steel has a significantly higher strength than zinc die-cast alloys and the three-dimensional compression molding of the originally flat sheet steel starting material provides additional structural and structural strength. Problems arise, however, for the tight mounting of the bearing pins for the links that can be pivoted in the insertion pot, for example the hinge link in the case of four-joint hinges. Due to the small wall thickness of the insert wall, the holes for holding the bearing pins in the side walls of the trough-shaped part of the pot have only a very small length, so that the production of a sufficiently resilient and stable seat of the bearing pin in the hole is problematic. Proposals have already become known for holding the bearing pins more securely in the associated bore, particularly in the case of such hinges in which bearing pins projecting only on one side from the rare walls of the insertion pots are used. The surfaces holding the pins in the bore are enlarged in that collar-shaped ring projections are pressed out of the material of the side walls in the region of the bearing (DE-GM 85 19 746.7). In the case of plug-in pots made of thick-walled and relatively ductile sheet metal material, a certain enlargement of the surfaces of the bores formed around the bearing pins of the bores now formed within the collar-shaped ring projection is achieved. In the case of insertion pots made of thin-walled and less tough sheet metal material, however, such a ring projection cannot be produced or can only be produced with a very small height, since the sheet material then tends to tear open from the free end edge of the ring projection to be produced.

In contrast, the invention is based on the object, in the case of insertion pots made of thin sheet steel, the mounting of the bearing pins for the pivotable members of the insertion pot which is to be fastened to the furniture body To improve the body-stop part coupling joint mechanism in the sense that a more durable and more stable mounting is achieved without the bearing points there having to be separately manufactured and welded-on bearing receptacles, for example.

Starting from a plug-in pot of the type mentioned at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the wall of the pot part in the region of the bore receiving the associated pin end is cut through in each case by a wall area cut from the area of the pot part provided with the bore and in parallel contact the area provided with the bore is reinforced flap, and that in the respective tab a bore aligned with the bore in the wall of the pot part is provided for the bearing pin. In this way, the area of the bores that receive the bearing pin ends is practically doubled and a holder that can be subjected to greater stress is obtained.

The tab (s) can, for example, be punched out of the bottom of the pot part and folded over in contact with the respectively assigned side wall of the pot part.

Alternatively, it is also conceivable that at least some of the tabs are punched out of areas of the side wall that adjoin the side wall areas of the pot part provided with the bores.

It is then possible to fold the tab (s) onto the inner surface of the respective assigned pot part side wall that is exposed inside the pot part or - alternatively - onto the outer surface of the respective pot part side wall facing the wall of the assigned recess in the door leaf.

For insert pots for hinges with more than one. preferably two members pivotably mounted in the insertion pot by respectively assigned bearing pins, in particular four-joint or universal joint hinges, it is advisable to reinforce at least two bores aligned in the opposite side walls of the pot part for one of the bearing pins by punched-out and bent-over tabs provided with aligned holes.

In addition, the areas of the pot part side wall provided with bores and intended for receiving the bearing pin or the bearing pins of a further pivot axis can be reinforced by punched-out and folded-over tabs provided with aligned bores.

It is then possible to additionally extend the bores in the tabs - in accordance with the prior art mentioned above - into an annular projection which is pressed out in the form of a collar from the tab level.

In this case, it is then advisable to allow the ring projections to engage in the holes in the side walls of the pot part which are enlarged in diameter to the outside diameter of the ring projections. The bores in the side walls encompassing the ring protrusion on the outside then stabilize the ring protrusion and prevent it from tearing open from its end face, so that such a ring protrusion can actually be sensibly provided here even with insertion pots made of thin-walled and less tough sheet metal material. In the case of plug-in pots made of thicker and tougher sheet metal material, a solution is also conceivable in which the collar-shaped pressed-out ring projection of the tab points away from the associated side wall and thus an additional enlargement of the area of the mounting hole for the bearing pins is obtained.

The embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, designated in its entirety by 10, of an insertion pot designed in the manner according to the invention represents the door wing stop part of a modern four-bar hinge, with which cabinet doors are pivotally attached to the body of a cabinet. The pocket 10 is - as can be seen from the thickness of the wall and the shape shown in the sectional views of Figures 2 and 3 - made of relatively thin sheet steel in the stamping and pressing process, and has two main parts, namely the sunk inside a recess in associated door leaf to be arranged, laterally flattened trough-like pot part 12 and the attached to the upper edge of the pot part and on the one hand covering the recess in the back of the door leaf and on the other hand fastening holes 14 for fastening the plug-in pot 10 by means of the Fastening flange 16 that has a screw-in fastening screw and has a fastening flange 16.

In the wall part 18 of the plug-in pot, which laterally delimits the pot part 12, two fastening bores 20, 22 are provided, which are aligned with the corresponding fastening bores 20, 22 of the other side wall 18, and which serve to receive and hold the opposite ends of bearing pins on which the two hinge links of a four-joint hinge constructed using the insertion pot 10 are pivotably mounted. Corresponding to the thin-walled material of the insertion pot, the fastening bores 20, 22 have only a small length, so that the bearing pins are also kept only for a short length. Despite the relatively high strength of the steel sheet, there is a risk of the fastening holes knocking out over time. This danger is particularly present when - as is the case with some four-joint hinges that can be opened by a pivoting angle of more than 90 ° - one of the bearing pins for the insertion of the hinge links on the insertion pot side into two short, projecting from the respectively assigned side wall 18, i.e. pin sections held at one end only.

In the case of the plug-in pot 10, the fastening bores 22 have therefore been increased in length in that the wall area of these fastening bores is reinforced by tabs 26 punched out of the material of the bottom 24 of the pot part 12, which from the position still lying in the floor plane after being punched free (FIG 1) are edged into the parallel system shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 on the inside of the side walls 18 of the pot part, whereupon the fastening bores 22 are punched out, which thus extend through the side walls 18 and the edged tabs.

The exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 of an insertion pot 10 designed in the manner according to the invention differs from the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 only in that the tabs 26 do not point out of their originally punched-out position in alignment with the bottom 24 Inside of the side walls 18, but are folded over on the outside. Although this means that the punched-out tabs 26 have to be bent by 135 ° instead of 90 °, as in the embodiment according to FIGS. 2 and 3, but the advantage is obtained that the tabs 26 are no longer visible when the hinge is mounted and do not constrict the interior in the pot part.

In Figures 6 to 8 or 9 and 10, exemplary embodiments of the plug-in pot 10 according to the invention are illustrated, which differ from the described exemplary embodiments only in that the fastening bores 20 for the bearing pin of the second hinge arm are additionally reinforced by a folded tab, whereby these tabs are punched out of the material of the front end wall which originally closes the pot part 12 and are folded over onto the inside (FIGS. 7 and 8) or the outside (FIGS. 9 and 10) of the side walls 18 of the pot part 12. In the drawing figures, these holes 20 reinforcing the tabs 28 are designated. 6 shows the tabs 26 used to reinforce the fastening bores 22, by the way, in their upright position on the inside of the side walls 18, while their position, which was originally flush with the floor after being punched out, is only indicated by dash-dotted lines.

In FIGS. 11 and 12 or 13 and 14, modifications of the exemplary embodiments already described are again illustrated, which relate to the configuration of the fastening bores 22. The mounting holes 22 are completely formed here within the tabs 26, However, its length is in turn significantly extended beyond the material thickness of the insertion pot by an annular projection 30, which is pressed out of the material of the tabs and surrounds the fastening bore 22 in the form of a collar. After the flaps 26 have been folded over onto the side walls 18 of the pot part 12 of the respective insertion pot, the ring projections 30 engage in assigned, correspondingly enlarged, punched-out receiving bores 32 in the side walls 18.

In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, the tabs 26 are in turn folded over on the outer sides of the side walls 18, while the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 13 and 14 illustrates the folding of the tabs on the inner sides of the side walls 18.

It can be seen that, within the scope of the inventive concept, further modifications and developments of the described exemplary embodiments, e.g. can be realized that the configuration of the mounting hole 32 within a collar-shaped pressed out ring in the tab 26 can also be transferred to the design of the mounting holes 20.
