  2. Connector according to claim 1, characterized in that each hole has a plurality of fingers which are angularly distributed, the fingers associated with one hole being in an angular position with respect to the axis of the hole which is different from that of the fingers of the adjacent holes.
  3. Connector according to claim 2, characterized in that, the holes being distributed in a square array and each having two fingers, the two fingers of one hole are at 90° from the fingers of the adjacent holes.
  4. Connector according to claim 1, 2 or 3, characterized in that each terminal has, rearwardly of an electric contact zone, a shank formed with a rearwardly-directed shoulder for connection with tips of the fingers and with a flange (30) having a diameter higher than that of a portion of the terminal which is located forwardly thereof, whose forwardly directed side constitutes said step.
  5. Connector according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that said retaining plate (12) is provided with means for locking it on the lateral wall (18) of a cavity formed in the insulating housing for receiving it, preventing rearward movement of the retaining plate (12) with respect to the housing from the front position for which the plate is in abutment against a partition (14) constituting the bottom wall of the housing.
  6. Connector according to claim 5, characterized in that the locking means comprise a circumferential section (32) of a rear skirt (24) of the plate (12), defined by slots that extend parallel to the insertion direction and being provided with a stud (34) apt to lock in a circumferential groove (36) of the housing.
  7. Connector according to claim 6, characterized in that the skirt (24) further comprises a catch (38) for temporarily retaining said retaining plate in a position that is far enough back from said plate for the terminals to be inserted.
  8. Connector according to claim 7, characterized in that said retaining catch (38) is also carried by said section and is freely movable along a longitudinal opening (40) of the housing, between a rearward position for temporary retention and a forward position which corresponds to the position of abutment of the plate against the partition (14) of the housing.
  9. Connector according to claim 6, 7 or 8, characterized in that the section includes a portion which is circumferentially offset with respect to the locking catch and in that the housing has a rear notch (42) enabling to exert a force on said offset portion for bending the section inwardly.
