Abstract

The invention relates to a fence and a tool for erecting fences. Steel grid mats are closely fitted together in rows to make a fence by holding the two outer vertical posts (6, 7) of adjacent mats together with C-shaped special steel clamps (8, 9) which are deformed when mounted. Special lever pliers facilitates the fitting of the mat clamps. The invention makes the precise mutual positioning of the fence posts (10) unnecessary, the erection of the fence is made easier and an optically aesthetic fence connection is provided.

Description

The invention relates to a fence and a method for assembling fences by reshaping a fence connector.

An increasingly integral part of modern fence systems are steel mesh mats, consisting of crosswise arranged horizontal and vertical bars that are welded to each other at the cross points, which are endlessly strung together and fastened to posts to form a fence system. The mats can be galvanized or additionally coated with plastic and have different mesh sizes depending on the application. The steel mesh mats are easy to manufacture and, in principle, also easy to assemble into fencing systems.

The biggest problem for a visually appealing fence are the mat connectors at the joints between two steel mesh mats.

Three basic types of connectors for steel mesh mats are known. The steel mesh mats are very often pushed together in front of fence posts that are anchored in the ground and fixed there on the fence post. This fixation is done by clamped cover strips or special tabs that are screwed to the fence post; corresponding examples are described in DE laid-open publications 19 06 391, 24 19 636, 30 29 712, 29 03 774, 38 24 721.

A more graceful shape have special posts formed from the wire grids themselves, which rest on short supports. Such integral fence posts, however, just like the connectors according to DE laid-open documents 24 12 381, 26 45 905, 25 34 767 require special clamping tabs which enclose two adjacent vertical bars from the front and rear and are connected to one another by a central screw.

A clamp connection is also known from practice, in which, with the vertical rods being recessed, one engages in a form-fitting manner against the abutting steel mesh mats lying at the same height after they have been deformed by a clamp.

All of these systems have a disadvantage. As far as fence posts are used, the fence posts need to be measured and positioned extremely precisely, so that the lattice mats with their prefabricated lengths end exactly in front of the fence posts in order to be connected to one another there. This means a very high assembly effort, because the posts can be set extremely precisely regardless of the terrain. In many cases, however, these fence post distances cannot be maintained if, for example, stony ground or the like occurs as an obstacle.
The connector of horizontal bars can bend due to the mat's own load and other unwanted loads, for example by a person crossing the fence. For this reason, this connection is only used for mats with horizontal double bars or reinforced horizontal profiles.

The metal double brackets connected by screws also have disadvantages. On the one hand, an exact alignment of the fence is necessary, in particular an exact distance between the vertical bars to be connected, since these metal plates are preformed and the fence connector is only held when both the tab and the vertical bars are aligned accordingly. The screw also allows certain frictional forces as holding forces and the connection is also easy to screw apart.
For the rest, the trend is towards ever lighter, at least more graceful looking fences with equally sized horizontal and vertical bars, where a clunky mat connection would be disruptive.

From DE-U-19 84 294 for zig-zag-shaped, in the hitting points abutting profiles assembled fences with U-shaped connectors for the joints of the profiles are known, which have an inner profile after O-shaped deformation, the corresponds exactly to the envelope of the two profiles to be connected. Connectors for vertical bars of steel mesh mats or a design rule for such connectors are not disclosed.

From an "elkosta brochure" 8.80 / 25-A-Do, round wire clips made of stainless steel for wrapping wire mesh using a special wire clip pliers are known.

Finally, in FR-PS 774948 pliers for pressing a cross connector with ends are U-shaped Cross section for orthogonally aligned individual rods, which together form a cross point, described. The pliers levers are connected to each other in a first joint and each have a second joint, on which spreading levers are pivotally mounted on the one hand. At their other ends, the spreading levers have jaws which, in the closed state, have an O-shaped opening - corresponding to the circular circumference of one end of the cross connector - and can be pivoted about a joint of the two spreading levers located below the jaws. When open, the jaws also gap widely on their underside. The cross connector can only be held in the jaws in the desired position during the clamping process, because in the middle of the jaw, transversely to the jaw opening, there is a groove that extends over the entire jaw depth and in which the ends of the cross connector, which are not to be formed in the current clamping process, rest. Without this adjustment groove for the specially shaped cross connector, the pliers would be very difficult to handle.

Finally, an H-shaped sheet metal body is known from GB-A-1 132 732, with which adjacent vertical bars of two lattice mats can be connected at a distance from one another. Lattice mats, for example also of fences, are to be connected at right angles to their edge meshes by simultaneously bending the edge parts of the sheet metal body above and below horizontal bars around the vertical bars.

In US-A-3,220,518 it is proposed to use hook-shaped wire clips and locking pins to overlap two adjacent grid mats on theirs To connect cross points by looping the vertical and horizontal bars.

The invention is therefore based on the problem of proposing a barely perceptible mat connection for fences, which is independent of the grid dimension in which the fence posts are arranged, can be installed as easily as possible and is secured against unintentional loosening. Another object of the invention is to propose a simple fence assembly method for this mat connection using a suitable tool.

The problem is solved according to the invention by the features of claims 1 and 8. Advantageous further developments of the invention are covered in the subclaims.

Such sheet metal clamps for fence mat connection can be arranged directly above and immediately below two offset horizontal bars on the vertical bars. This prevents the steel mesh mats from moving vertically against each other.

The solution for the fence connection is even more elegant if the steel mesh mats have, for reasons of stability, beads running in the horizontal direction in at least one or more meshes of the steel mesh mat. Then one of these sheet metal clamps can be arranged in the area of the bead, while the second is arranged on the vertically running part of the steel grid mat. This results in a secure connection of adjacent vertical bars in two axes of the steel mesh mat, so that they lie immovably next to each other.

Such a simple connection of two adjacent vertical bars of adjacent steel mesh mats results in a delicate fence structure. The connection should be made outside the area of a fence post, as there is enough space there to attach a tool for the assembly of the fence connector. In addition, the mat can be easily preassembled on a horizontal or vertical bar with the post if the connection between two steel mesh mats is not in front of the post and the distance between the fence posts and their foundations from one another need not be determined to the centimeter before the fence assembly.

Another anti-slip device against the vertical displacement of two steel mesh mats results if the vertical rods to be connected are provided with a plastic coating, because then the coefficient of friction between rod and connector is significantly higher.

A fence connector that can be used for the fence according to the invention consists of a C-shaped sheet metal part, the dimensions of which are determined essentially by the thickness of the bars to be connected and the sheet thickness, the length of the fence connector should be more than twice the thickness of the vertical bar, so that an accurate angle Forming the fence connector is possible and this is not twisted during the forming. For reasons of durability, stainless steel is preferred as the material for such a fence connector.

To assemble the lattice mats for the fence according to the invention, it is also proposed to use special lever pliers for reshaping the fence connector. Such a long-handled lever pliers with jaws that have a common inner contour that corresponds to the finished, attached fence connector has, as is known per se, three joints in order to achieve a large increase in force with the spreading levers located between the joints. The maximum jaw opening corresponds to the width of the C-shaped sheet metal clamp plus manufacturing tolerance. When the pliers are open, the parts of the jaws lying inside the pliers intersect so that they form an abutment and a limitation for the insertion depth of the sheet metal clamps. This shape of the jaws, the pliers and a suitable choice of the lever lengths allows a dosed and exact pressing of the C-shaped sheet metal clamp into an O-shape. To prevent the tool from tilting or twisting to allow the sheet metal clamp, each jaw of the lever pliers is mounted several times in the jaw joint arranged directly below the abutment, so that the jaws cannot rotate relative to the joint.

The elements of the invention are to be explained using exemplary embodiments with the aid of schematic drawings.

In Figure 1, a fence post 10 is shown on which a steel mesh mat is attached by means of holder 11. The steel mesh mat ends in the closed edge mesh 3 with the vertical rod 7. A further steel mesh mat, consisting of mesh-forming, crosswise arranged, welded together at the crossing points horizontal rods 1, 4, 5 and vertical rods 2, 6, which are in turn closed, is to be attached to this edge mesh Have edge stitches 3. The two vertical bars 6, 7 are enclosed and securely held by two fence connectors 8, 9 designed as sheet metal clamps. The connector 9 rests directly below the horizontal bar 1, the connector 8 immediately above the horizontal bar 5, so that a displacement of the two edge meshes 3 in the vertical direction becomes impossible.

Figure 2 shows in vertical section through a connection point of two steel mesh mats a vertical rod 12 with horizontal rods 13, the vertical rod 12 being bent so that a bead 14 is formed. This bead 14 is used to arrange a connector 30 in the area of this bead, while a second connector 31 is arranged in the vertical part of the steel mesh mat outside of the bead 14. This results in a two-axis securing of the steel mesh mats against vertical displacement. A horizontal displacement is not possible anyway when the connectors 30, 31 are arranged around the vertical rods 12.

Figure 3 shows the head of a lever pliers, consisting of the levers 24, 25 which are connected to each other on the lever heads 26, 27 by the joint 23. In further expansion joints 21, 22 expansion levers 19, 20 are pivotally mounted. The actual tool jaws 15, 16 are attached to the ends of the spreading levers 19, 20, for example by soldering. These jaws 15, 16 are in turn connected by their overlapping lower ends 28, 29, which form a support for the base of the sheet metal clamp 9, by a jaw joint 18. Each jaw 15, 16 is supported at least twice in the jaw joint 18 in order to prevent the jaws from twisting against one another. The jaws are drawn in the open state. In the jaws, a fence connector 9 was inserted with the position shown, which was held there with the jaws slightly pretensioned and pushed around the vertical bars 6, 7 analogously to the illustration in FIG. After the position of the fence connector 9 shown is reached, can the jaws 15, 16 are pressed together using the levers 24, 25 so that the legs of the fence connector 9 close around the vertical rods 6, 7.
