Description

The invention relates to a control device for a stacking stroke drive in sheet-processing machines, in particular sheet-fed printing machines, according to the preamble of claim 1.

In sheet-fed printing machines, the sheets to be printed are removed from the top of a stack and, in particular, conveyed under shingled via a feed table. The devices effecting the sheet removal (lifting suction devices) can only securely grasp the sheets within a relatively narrow height range of the top edge of the stack in order to ensure trouble-free transport of the sheets. The pallet on which the sheets are stacked is therefore provided with a stacking stroke drive, which causes the top sheet to always be within a certain height range. The uppermost sheet or the top edge of the stack is detected by means of a stack height scanner. According to the output signals of this stack height scanner, the stack lifting drive for lifting the pallet is controlled by a control device. The stack lifting drive can carry out continuous or discontinuous movements of the pallet during the subsequent conveying.

From DE 3 607 979 A1 a control device for a continuously operating stack lifting drive is known, in which the motor of the stack lifting drive always remains activated according to the deviations of the target / actual height difference determined by a stack height scanner, only executes slower or faster tracking movements. The disadvantage here is that the motor and the drive upstream of it must be designed for a very large adjustment range, so that the top edge of the stack can be kept within a narrow height range at all processing speeds of the printing press and all substrate thicknesses.

Significantly lower requirements are to be placed on the drives in addition to the motors of discontinuously operating stack lifting drives (DE 2 659 511 C2). The stack lifting drive is switched to run or stop in accordance with the output signal of a stack height scan. At high printing speeds and high substrate thicknesses, this does not only result in a high switching frequency for which the stacking stroke drive must be designed. The high switching frequency will, above all, cause the sheet stack lying on the pallet to vibrate via the mechanical lifting gear. Especially with large printing material thicknesses and thus a relatively large printing material mass, these vibrations in the stack can put the top sheets to be removed into an uncontrollable dynamic of their own, so that trouble-free further transport to the system is not guaranteed.

The device for controlling a stack lifting device according to DE 3 631 456 C2 expands the possibilities with regard to the control of the tracking movements of the sheet stack in that a pulse generator is assigned to the motor of the stack lifting drive. The size of the tracking movements is calculated in the control device from the signals of the pulse generator. The control device also detects the processing speed of the printing press. However, the described pulse generator is very complex due to the provided pulse generator.

The object of the present invention is thus to design a control device for a stacking stroke drive in sheet-processing machines in accordance with the preamble of claim 1 such that an expensive motor and drive for large adjustment ranges can be dispensed with.

The present invention solves this problem by applying the characterizing features of claim 1. Further developments of the invention result from the subclaims in conjunction with the description and the drawings.

In the control device for the stacking stroke drive according to the invention, a switch is made between a continuous and a discontinuous stacking stroke operation depending on the processing speed of the printing press and the substrate thickness. Switching between the two operating modes results in a control device in which a characteristic curve, which is worked out according to the setting range of the motor and the drive, is stored. The characteristic curve separates the areas with continuous and discontinuous stacking stroke operation from each other in a plane formed by the axes processing speed of the printing press and the substrate thickness.

Since it is provided according to the invention to continuously control the stacking stroke drive even at low processing speeds for large printing material thicknesses, no oscillating movements within the stack can be transmitted to the sheets to be removed. With low substrate thicknesses, discontinuous conveying is carried out at almost all processing speeds, which means that the drive motor does not have to perform very slow movements despite the constant load torque (weight of the stack). With thin substrates, the frequency of switching of the drive and thus the vibrations in the stack are not as high. Because of the low printing material mass, these vibrations do not cause any disruptions in sheet travel.

The invention thus makes it possible to dispense with a high-quality and expensive motor and drive (large adjustment range). Nevertheless, the advantages of continuous stacking can be used at high processing speeds and large substrate thicknesses.

Furthermore, an embodiment of the invention is based on the drawing. It shows:

a characteristic field.

The sheets to be printed on a printing press 11 lie in the form of a stack 1 on a pallet 2 (FIG. 1). A lifting gear 3 is indicated, through which the pallet 2 and thus the stack 1 can be lifted. The lifting gear 3 is driven by a motor 4, which is additionally associated with an electromagnetically controllable brake 5. The task of brake 5 is to keep the stack 1 against its weight at a certain height when the motor 4 is not activated. Brake 5 can also be integrated directly in the motor 4 in the form of a lifting armature motor and can be switched either by pulses from the control device 8 or inevitably by the motor current.

DerMotor 4 is supplied with voltage by a speed controller 6 in order to achieve a predeterminable speed. In a simple manner, motor 4 is designed as a three-phase asynchronous motor, with a speed controller 6 having a small adjustment range being assigned to it. The

Drehzahlsteller 6 entnimmt die Spannung eingangsseitig direkt vom Netz.Speed controller 6 takes the voltage on the input side directly from the mains.

The upper edge of stack 1 is detected by a stack height scanner 7, the output signal of which can be seen whether the upper edge of stack 1 is within or outside a certain height range. The output of the stack height scanner 7 is connected to the control device 8, in which the corresponding control signals for the speed controller 6 are formed. Furthermore, the control device 8 is supplied with the processing speed of the printing press 11 shown symbolically here. The processing speed can be a tachometer signal from the main drive or a pulse sequence of speed-dependent frequency. The substrate thickness can also be supplied to the control device 8, which, as indicated in FIG. 1, can be done via manual data input, in particular via a control center computer 9, from which the entire printing press 11 can be monitored and operated.

The control device 8 is now designed to switch the speed controller 6 between continuous and discontinuous operation depending on the processing speed of the printing press 11 and the printing material thickness entered via the control center computer 9. In continuous operation, the control device 8 specifies a speed setpoint to the speed controller 6 in such a way that the upper edge of stack 1 is always within a height range controlled by the stack height scanner 7. The speed setpoint is calculated from the processing speed of the printing press 11 and the substrate thickness, the translation of the lifting gear 3 being taken into account. The output signals from the stack height scanner 7 are monitored in the control device 8 for compliance with a target height of the top edge of the stack. If the setpoint height is exceeded and undershot, the calculated setpoint speed values are passed on to the speed controller 6 with additional corrections by the control device 8.

In the case of discontinuous operation, control device 8 only monitors whether the upper edge of stack 1 is exceeded or undershot, which is determined by stack height scanner 7. If the height falls below, the control device 8 causes the stack 1 to be raised via the speed controller 6 until, for example, an upper limit is reached. After a certain time, i.e. after a certain number of sheets removed, control device 8 again causes stack 1 to be lifted.

The control device 8 switches over between continuous and discontinuous stacking stroke operation on the basis of a comparison of the current processing speed of the printing press 11 and the previously entered printing material thickness. For this purpose, the control device 8 is operatively connected to a characteristic curve memory 10 in that a characteristic curve is stored. 2 shows a quantitative example of the stored characteristic curve which lies in a plane formed by the axis of the processing speed V of the machine with the printing material thickness B. D denotes the area of discontinuous and K the area of continuous stacking operation. According to the exemplary embodiment, the stack 1 is now lifted discontinuously at a printing material thickness B = 0.5 mm up to a processing speed V = 3,000 sheets / h. At processing speeds above 3,000 sheets / h (same substrate thickness), stack 1 is continuously lifted. The characteristic curve memory 10 thus contains the processing speed V for a large number of printing material strengths B, at which it is necessary to switch between continuous and discontinuous operation.
