Untergestell für einen für hohe Achslasten über 20 t ausgelegten Eisenbahnkesselwagen mit einem Drehgestell sowie einer Kupplungs- und Puffereinrichtung an jedem Untergestellende, das gegenüber einem schmalen, im wesentlichen von in Untergestellquerrichtung nur wenig voneinander beabstandeten Längsträgern gebildeten mittleren Teil seitlich portalartig erweitert ist und einen die Puffer aufnehmenden, querverlaufenden Kopfträger, einen Querträger im Drehzapfenbereich, in Querrichtung wenig beabstandete Längsträger zwischen beiden Querträgern und eine Plattenabdeckung auf den Trägern aufweist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Plattenabdeckung aus zwei Teilplatten besteht, deren Breite der Breite der portalartigen Erweiterung entspricht, deren einander abgekehrten Endkanten gerade sind und im Bereich der Außenseite des Kopfträgers bzw. des hinteren Querträgers die Längsachse des Untergestells unter einem rechten Winkel schneiden und deren einander zugekehrten Kanten einen Freiraum in der Breite der Erweiterung begrenzen und, wie die einander abgekehrten Kanten in der Draufsicht gesehen, wie folgt konturiert sind:
   jede Kante hat einen den Längsträgerbereich kreuzenden im wesentlich geraden Mittelabschnitt;
   jede Kante springt vom Mittelabschnitt aus bogenförmig zurück;
