Reicht die Zugkraft der Ringdüse für den ordnungsgemäßen Strangumlauf nicht oder fällt gänzlich aus, häuft sich das Textilgut auf dem Ring und belastet diesen. Dadurch übt der schwenkbar gelagerte Ring an einem ihn an sich in horizontaler Position haltenden Zugorgan eine Kraft aus, worauf das Zugorgan einen den Antrieb der Umlenkwalze unterbrechenden Schalter betätigt. Da die zuvor beschriebene Vorrichtung gänzlich ungeeignet ist, mit Hilfe des schwenkbaren Führungsringes den Strangumlauf wieder in Gang zu setzen, wurde auch schon vorgeschlagen, einen Führungsring um seine Diagonalachse in Rotation zu versetzen und dadurch auf den sich dabei aufwickelnden Strang eine erhöhte Zugkraft auszuüben. Abgesehen davon, daß nach Auflösung des Strangpaketes die Drehbewegungen des Führungsringes um exakt den gleichen Gesamtdrehwinkel rückgängig zu machen sind, damit der Führungsring seine eigentliche Funktion wieder übernehmen kann, wird auf den Strang in beiden Richtungen eine erhöhte Zugkraft ausgeübt und dabei auch ein Strangstück auf den Ring aufgewickelt, das der Zugkraft der Ringdüse ausgesetzt ist bzw. diese bereits passiert hat.
