Description

The present invention relates to a shelling device associated with an apparatus for rotary cutting of a sheet of material such as cardboard or similar material.

Rotary cutting devices are commonly used in industry to cut, from a sheet of material such as cardboard, individual blanks intended to subsequently constitute, for example, packages. Following the cutting of these individual blanks, cardboard waste or scraps remain which correspond to all the areas of the web which are not used to constitute the individual blanks. This cardboard waste must therefore be removed from the surface of the cutting cylinder, after each cutting operation, and for this purpose provision is made for pins carried by the surface of this cylinder at the places where the waste is formed, after cutting. Each piece of cardboard constituting a waste is thus pierced by a spike and it is driven, while being held by this spike, in the direction of a shelling device which is intended to rid each spike of the piece of cardboard that it entails. .

The shelling devices known to date generally comprise a single piece member in the form of a "comb" having teeth directed towards the surface of the cutting cylinder and inclined at an appropriate angle relative to this surface. This single-piece shelling comb is arranged so that the different pins carried by the cutting cylinder pass through the gaps between the teeth of the comb so that the cardboard waste carried by the outer extreme parts of the pins is gradually detached from them by sliding on the neighboring teeth of the peeling comb. However, a shelling device of this type has the drawback that the pieces of cardboard often jam in the bottom of the gaps between the teeth of the shelling comb, these pieces of cardboard being able to accumulate and possibly cause rupture. spikes when the obstacle they manage to constitute is quite significant.

The present invention essentially aims to remedy this drawback by providing a dehulling device of particularly simple design and ensuring in an efficient manner and without risk of jamming the dehulling operation.

To this end, this shelling device associated with a rotary cutting device for a sheet of material, such as cardboard or similar material, this shelling device constituting a sort of comb comprising a common base, parallel to the axis of the cylinder of section, by forming a support for a series of arms or parallel teeth extending in the direction of the cutting cylinder and ending in the immediate vicinity of the peripheral surface of this cylinder, these arms delimiting between them intervals in which pins can pass integral with the peripheral surface of the cutting cylinder and transporting pieces of material constituting cutting waste to be detached from the pins by the arms of the dehulling device, is characterized in that the common base of the dehulling device in the form of a comb consists of a tree on which pairs of arms parallel are locked, by means of screws, in variable positions depending on the longitudinal position of the pins on the cutting cylinder and in that the two arms of each pair, symmetrical with respect to a vertical and transverse plane, have faces internal, that is to say which are turned towards each other, shaped so as to delimit between them an interval whose width is increasing from front to back, that is to say of the ends arms towards the tree forming a common support.

On décrira ci-après, à titre d'exemple non limitatif, une forme d'exécution de la présente invention, en référence au dessin annexé sur lequel :An embodiment of the present invention will be described below, by way of non-limiting example, with reference to the appended drawing in which:

Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of a shelling device according to the invention associated with a cutting cylinder of a rotary cutting device.

Figure 2 is a partial plan view, on a larger scale, of the shelling device.

Figure 3 is a front view of two adjacent doctor blades of the shelling device.

The comb-shaped shelling device according to the invention, which is indicated as a whole by the reference 1 in FIG. 1, is associated with a cutting cylinder 2 of a rotary cutting device. This cutting cylinder 2 carries, on its peripheral surface, cutting threads which ensure the cutting of a sheet of material, such as a sheet of cardboard, according to a predetermined path, to form individual blanks of cardboard from this tablecloth. The areas of the web that remain after cutting the blanks individual and which thus constitute cutting waste, must be eliminated and for this purpose the cutting cylinder 2 carries, at the places where this waste is formed, pins 3 embedded in the lateral surface of the cylinder 2 and having a pointed external end 3a as it appears in FIG. 3. Following a cutting operation the pins 3 are pressed, by their pointed ends 3a, into pieces of cardboard 4 constituting cutting waste. The shelling device 1 is intended to rid all the pins 3 of the pieces of cardboard 4 constituting cutting waste.

According to the invention the dehulling device 1 which is arranged above the cutting cylinder 2 but which could be placed in another suitable place, comprises a longitudinal shaft 5, that is to say which is parallel to the axis of the cutting cylinder 2. Arms 6, 7 are attached to this shaft 5 which are substantially radial, mutually parallel and distant from each other, these arms 6, 7 constituting in a way the teeth of the shelling "comb" 1. These arms 6, 7 are arranged in pairs of arms, symmetrical to one another with respect to the same vertical and transverse plane P, these arms extending towards the cutting cylinder 2 and ending in close proximity to that -this. In FIG. 2, two of these arms are represented, namely a left arm 6 and a right arm 7, symmetrical with respect to the vertical and transverse plane P. Each of the arms 6 and 7 comprises a base 8 constituted by a tight and locked support block on the shaft 5, by means of a screw 9, and a front part forming a doctor blade 11 which extends the base 8 and which is fixed to this base by means of screws 12. Each doctor blade 11 has a flat upper face 11a which is inclined with respect to the horizontal and which ends with a horizontal edge 11b, parallel to the axis of the cutting cylinder 2, located in the immediate vicinity of the lateral surface of this cylinder. The edge 11b is part of an acute angle dihedral formed by the upper face 11a and a lower and anterior face 11c which is inclined so that the end part of each doctor blade 11 is tapered. This inclined lower and anterior face 11c is connected to a lower and posterior face 11d which is parallel to the upper face 11a and which is locked against a flat upper face of the base 8 under the action of the locking screws 12. View in plane each doctor blade 11 is delimited by an external vertical face 11e which is rectilinear. On the other hand, the internal face of each doctor blade, that is to say the one which faces towards the vertical plane of symmetry P and the other doctor blade, is stepped and it comprises, in its front part, a flat front internal face 11f which is tilted both down and back. This inclined front face 11f is delimited, at its upper part, by an anterior and upper edge 11g contained in the plane of the upper face 11a, parallel to the vertical plane of symmetry P and connecting perpendicularly to the edge 11b, and by a another upper edge 11h also contained in the plane of the upper face 11a, following the anterior edge 11g and inclined from front to back and towards the outside of the doctor blade 11, to reach a vertical and internal transverse face 11i of the doctor blade 11. The internal inclined front face 11f of the doctor blade 11 also connects to the inclined front face 11c along an edge 11j which, seen in plan as it appears in FIG. 2, is inclined from front to back , outwards, with respect to the vertical plane of symmetry P.

Because of this particular conformation of the front part of each of two doctor blades 11 which are adjacent to each other and symmetrical with respect to the plane P, the interval between the two doctor blades 11 first defines, in its front part, a relatively narrow entry slit, of width a delimited by the two front edges 11g parallel to the plane P, then an intermediate part flared towards the rear and which is defined by the two edges 11h and finally a very wide interval b between the two internal vertical faces 11i. The space below the entry slit, between the two front edges 11g, and the flared part, located between the two inclined edges 11h, is also flared both backwards and downwards, this space being delimited by the two inclined internal anterior faces 11f.

To ensure a shelling operation, that is to say the elimination of the pieces of cardboard 4 constituting the waste carried by the pins 3, each pair of left 6 and right 7 arms is blocked on the shaft 5, by means screws 9, so that the entry slot which is delimited between the two front edges 11g, is located substantially opposite the pins 3 and that these can engage in this entry slot. In other words, we make sure that the vertical plane of symmetry P of the two arms 6, 7 practically coincides with the vertical and transverse plane in which the pins 3 move. As a result, when a pin 3, carrying with it a piece of cardboard 4, begins to engage in the entry slot between the two edges 11g, the piece of cardboard 4 which it carries and whose lateral dimension is greater than the width of the entry slot between the edges 11g , begins to slide on the upper faces 11a of the two doctor blades 11. From made of the inclination of the arms 6 and 7 with respect to the lateral surface of the cutting cylinder 2, each piece of cardboard 4 carried by a pin 3 tends to be gradually detached from this pin as it slides on the upper faces 11a of the two doctor blades 11. It then arrives in the flared zone delimited by the two edges 11h where it is then completely detached from the pin 3: it can then fall into an underlying recovery device, not shown. Due to the provision of the flared space from front to back and from top to bottom, in the front part of the doctor blades 11, the risk of jamming is completely eliminated since the detached pieces of cardboard 4 can fall freely in the meantime between the two doctor blades 11.
