Abstract

The invention is a diaphragm for electroacoustic transducers with the object of approximating the decay spectrum (postoscillation) of the diaphragm to the decay spectrum of the human auditory apparatus. For this purpose, the diaphragm is to be constructed from at least two cones with different aperture angles. The applicable aperture angles are 163, 157, 140, 114, 98, 82 and 66 degrees. A more natural and pleasant sound impression is produced by the coincidence of the characteristic oscillations of the ear with the characteristic oscillations of the transducer. Overview of the figures: Figure 1: Cross-section of the diaphragm with the aperture angles alpha = 140 degrees and beta = 114 degrees (1) = suspension (2) = drive (3) = diaphragm Figure 2: Cross-section through a concave diaphragm with the aperture angles 114 degrees, 140 degrees and 157 degrees. (1) = suspension (2a), (2b) two possible drive types as examples (3) = diaphragm <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a membrane for electroacoustic transducers, in particular loudspeakers and headphones. The shape of this membrane is composed of at least two cones of different opening angles, the cones also being able to close in a dome-like manner. It is essential for the invention that only very specific opening angles are used, namely the angles 163, 157, 140, 114, 98, 82 and 66 degrees.

Membrane shapes are already known which, on the surface, look similar and are composed of several cones (Germany Pat. 899048, France Pat. 1251.411, GB 369.992). However, these patents do not relate to specific angles and also pursue a completely different objective. This objective is an even reproduction of all sound frequencies, and good results have already been achieved from a measurement point of view.

The novelty of the present patent application is that the membrane geometry produces an irregularly structured amplitude behavior and decay behavior (decay spectrum) which is similar to the material-related properties of the human hearing apparatus. If the decay spectrum of the membrane matches the decay spectrum of the ear, the reverberation of parts of the membrane (partial vibrations) is no longer perceived as discoloration and a natural sound impression is created. Through years of research, I was able to empirically determine the cone angles that correspond to this desired behavior.

Eine ausführlichere Erklärung der grundlgend neuen Theorie der Klangwahrnehmung bringt das beiliegende Buch "Das Maß des Klanges" vom Patentanmelder (ISBN 3-907073-32-0).A more detailed explanation of the fundamentally new theory of sound perception is provided in the accompanying book "The measure of sound" by the patent applicant (ISBN 3-907073-32-0).

Claims (1)

Membrane for electroacoustic transducers, characterized in that the membrane, which can also form a dome, is composed of two or more cones with opening angles of 163, 157, 140, 114, 98, 82 or 66 degrees and through which two or more combinations of individual opening angles produce a decay spectrum which is similar to that of the human hearing apparatus, as a result of which a natural sound impression is produced.
