Abstract

In the knitwear take-down mechanism, equipped with gripper elements (14) movable through the comb gap of a flat knitting machine, the plane of the gripper elements (14) is directed perpendicularly to the beard planes of the knitting needles (13) mounted in the needle beds. The dimensions of the gripper elements are consequently no longer limited by the width of the comb gap, and the gripper elements (14) can be coupled to additional elements, such as a covering sinker (16). By means of the covering sinker (16), the orifice (14.2) of the gripper element (14) can be closed, and it is possible to form a yarn-receiving space (20), closable by the head (14.1) of the gripper element (14), and thereby achieve altogether a higher operating reliability of the knitwear take-down mechanism. …<IMAGE>…

Description

The invention relates to a knitted fabric take-off device for flat knitting machines, with a row of gripping elements which can be moved up and down through the comb gap delimited by two needle beds for grasping a knitted fabric start.

In flat knitting machines with fine needle pitch, the comb gap between the needle beds can be so narrow that in the case of knitted pull-off devices of the type mentioned, the hook-shaped gripping elements must be made very thin and small so that they can still be passed through the comb gap. As a result, the gripping elements become unstable and can be bent out of their adjustment plane in an undesirable manner by the pull of the knitted threads. There is also a risk that by the small hooks of many pull hooks of a pull hook strip, no threads of the beginning of the knitted fabric are detected at all.

The invention has for its object to provide a knitted pull-off device of the type mentioned so that the gripping elements can always be designed with sufficient strength and sufficiently large hook opening regardless of the comb gap width of a machine and ensures reliable detection of a knitting thread located in the adjustment range of a gripping element is.

The object is achieved in a knitted pull-off device mentioned at the outset in that the hook plane of the gripping elements is directed perpendicular to the hook planes of the knitting needles stored in the needle beds and the opening of the gripping elements is closable.

In a knitted pull-off device designed according to the invention, the hook planes of the gripping elements, in contrast to the previously known relevant pull-off devices, lie in the central plane running through the comb gap of two needle beds of a flat knitting machine. This means that the hook size no longer depends on the width of the comb gap. There is also much greater freedom in the design of the gripping elements than with the trigger hooks previously used. The comb gap width only limits the maximum possible thickness of a gripping element, but that also allows narrowest known comb gap of a flat knitting machine to choose a gripping element thickness that gives the gripping element a by far sufficient stability.

The closability of the gripping element opening in the knitted pull-off device designed according to the invention makes it easier to introduce the gripping elements into a knitted beginning and also to later decouple the gripping elements from the knitted fabric. For this purpose, each gripping element can advantageously be arranged so as to be relatively displaceable in the pull-off direction relative to a cover plate which has a thread receiving space which can be closed by the gripping element and a section for closing the gripping element opening. The thread receiving space, which can be closed by the gripping element, allows a captured knitting thread to be held captive during the entire pull-off process, similar to a closed slide needle, and eliminates the risk that threads of the knitting start jump out of individual gripping elements during the pulling-off process, as a result of which a uniform distribution of the pulling forces on the knitted edge would be disturbed . According to the invention, the thread receiving space of the cover plate can have edges that slope upward towards its opening, the front edge in the knitting pull-off direction being longer and ending in a thread deflecting tip protruding beyond the associated gripping element. Due to the transverse position of the gripping elements relative to the knitting needles, the formation of a thread deflecting tip projecting beyond the gripping element is readily possible. It makes it easier to grasp a thread at the beginning of the knitted fabric when the take-off device is raised into the comb gap, which thread then runs along the longer one Edge of the thread receiving space can slide into this thread receiving space, where it is then held captive by the associated gripping element.

The gripping element and its associated cover plate can both be designed as flat bodies lying close to one another. Even the smallest comb gap of a flat knitting machine also allows the formation of a thicker cover plate, in which a guide groove for the gripping element is formed and which thus also results in guiding the gripping element.

A knitted pull-off device designed according to the invention does not require any special formation of a knitted start, but can be used in all conventional knitted beginnings. Even in the initial rows of a knitted fabric, in which thread loops or stitches are formed only by individual needles, which are arranged over several needle pitches from one another, evenly distributed detection of the initial knitted threads can be ensured by means of a special pull-off method using the knitted-pull-off device. For this purpose, according to the invention, after the formation of at least one right / right starting row, the gripping elements and cover plates can first be raised into the comb gap, the thread receiving space of the cover plates being released by the gripping element, that is to say opened. Subsequently, one of the two needle beds can be offset by at least one needle division before the thread receiving space of the cover sinkers is closed by the gripping element and the retraction of the gripping elements from the comb gap begins before or after the needle bed is set back. When the needle bed is displaced, a knitted beginning thread is certainly inserted into each of the cover plates and then then held captive by the gripping element in the cover plate, so that it cannot escape again from the thread receiving space when the needle bed is set back.

An exemplary embodiment of a knitted pull-off device is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. In Fig. 1 of a flat knitting machine only the two edge regions of two needle beds 10 and 11 delimiting the comb gap 15 of the machine are shown. A knitting needle 12 mounted in the needle bed 10 and a knitting needle 13 mounted in the needle bed 11 are indicated, the hook plane of which runs in or parallel to the plane of the drawing and thus transversely to the plane of symmetry of the comb gap 15, which coincides with the cutting plane II-II. The width of the comb gap 15 is designated A.

Of the knitted pull-off device, only a gripping element 14 with a hook head 14.1 and a cover plate 16, in which the gripping element 14 is mounted so as to be relatively displaceable in its longitudinal direction, are shown with their part essential to the invention. The drive device for the individual gripping elements 14 or cover plates 16 of the knitted pull-off device and their coupling with the respectively adjustable parts is not shown. Various construction elements known from other adjustable parts of knitting machines can be used here.

The shape of the gripping element 14 and the cover plate 16 can be seen from the sectional images of FIGS. 2 and 3. In these sectional representations, some heads of needles 13 of one needle bed 11 are shown, which can be moved relative to the other needle bed 10 is trained. A double arrow V indicates an offset of the needle bed 11 by one needle pitch to the right or to the left.

The gripping element 14 is mounted in the illustrated embodiment in a groove 17 of the cover plate 16, which ends in a head part 16.1 of the cover plate and which allows the hook head 14.1 of the gripping element to be fully immersed in this head part 16.1. The gripping element 14 is drawn in this position with solid lines in all figures. In this position, its hook head 14.1 is therefore closed by the cover plate 16 and cannot catch a knitted thread 18. A thread receiving space 20 is formed on the cover head 16.1 of the cover plate 16 by an edge recess 19 and has edges 21 and 22 that rise obliquely to the opening of the edge recess 19. The front edge 22, which is indicated by an arrow 23, is longer than the rear edge 21 and ends in a thread deflecting tip 24 which is formed on a part 16.2 of the cover plate 16 which projects far beyond the hook head 14.1 of the gripping element 14. The edge recess 19 forming the thread receiving space 20 and the cover plate part 16.2 forming the thread deflecting tip are each divided into two equal parts by the longitudinal groove 17, as can be seen with respect to the thread deflecting tip 24 from FIG. 1.

In Fig. 2, the gripping element 14 is drawn with dash-dotted lines relatively displaced to the cover plate 16 in a position in which the hook head 14.1 closes the thread receiving space 20 of the cover plate 16. The gripping element is brought into this position after the 3 has been moved upwards through the comb gap and knitted threads 18 have been inserted into the thread receiving spaces 20 of the cover plates 16 before the pulling-off movement of the knitted pull-off device in the direction of arrow 23 then begins.

In the position of the take-off parts and the relative position of gripping element 14 and cover plate 16 shown in FIG. 3, the needle bed offset mentioned at the beginning can also take place in the direction of arrows V in order to use a knitted thread 18 to enter the thread take-up space 20 of cover plate 16 in the pull-off method mentioned to force. The detected and caught in the thread receiving space 20 thread is released after completion of the withdrawal movement by immersing the hook head 14.1 in the cover part 16.1 of the circuit board 16 and can slide out of the edge recess 19 of the cover plate 16 along the inclined edge 21.
