Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a pressure valve unit on an expansion tank in the cooling circuit of an internal combustion engine, which valve unit is inserted in a receptacle housing arranged inside the tank ceiling and a first and a second pressure valve connected downstream of the first, which in turn each consist of a valve body closing a valve opening by means of a spring and a float controlling an overflow bore located between the two pressure relief valves.
A pressure valve unit of the generic type is known from EPA 0 180 208. The arrangement described therein of a pressure valve unit on a surge tank has the disadvantage that when the pressure in the tank rises, the valve unit bulges with the tank in such a way that the sealing surfaces of the valves, which are pressurized on one side, warp and leakages occur.
In relation to this disadvantage, the object of the invention is to provide a pressure valve unit in which leaks caused by changes in shape of the expansion tank are avoided.
The object is achieved, according to the invention, by the characterizing features specified in patent claim 1.
The installation of separate valve housings creates new sealing surfaces for the pressure relief valves in those valve housings, thereby eliminating the previous sealing surfaces of the valves with the expansion tank. As a result of the decoupling of the sealing surfaces of the valve unit from the walls of the expansion tank, the sealing surfaces remain undisturbed when the expansion tank changes shape due to pressurization.
A further advantage of the present invention according to claim 2 rests in the lying arrangement of the valve receiving housing, which encloses the two valve housings with the valves, on the ceiling of the expansion tank, since, contrary to the design from the prior art, space is saved for the upper part of the engine compartment .
An additional, advantageous arrangement of a pressure valve unit of this design according to claim 4 in a rib, which runs lengthwise or transversely in the container ceiling and forms the end of an intermediate wall within the container with the ceiling, ensures greater stability of the valve unit and greater protection of the valve elements, as the partition wall acts as a tie rod for the ceiling under pressure in the container.
In a special embodiment of the valve unit according to the invention, a connection of the two valve housings by means of a clip is provided, which facilitates handling when coupling valve housings.
Finally, the use of O-ring seals according to
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail in the following description of the drawings.
