Description

According to the known technique, the cover of a gate valve can pass from its closed position to its open position by being reassembled by means of a nut and worm system inside a vertical chimney. This chimney is closed at its upper part by a cover, which is also crossed by the worm screw for adjusting the position of the cover.

The most common method of fixing the cover to the valve body is to date constituted by a flange, which comprises the cover, and which is secured to the valve body by a series of screws or bolts.

It has already been estimated that these fixing screws or bolts could have the disadvantage of being sensitive to corrosion, in particular with regard to buried gate valves, and it has already been envisaged to remove this usual fixing by bolts. by other fixing devices.

FR-A-2 492 938 décrit une telle disposition, dans laquelle la fixation du couvercle est réalisée en adoptant, à la partie supérieure de la cheminée du corps de vanne, un rétrécissement de la section elliptique de la partie cylindrique de ce corps de vanne susceptible d'abriter l'opercule en position d'ouverture.FR-A-2 492 938 describes such an arrangement, in which the fixing of the cover is carried out by adopting, at the upper part of the chimney of the valve body, a narrowing of the elliptical section of the cylindrical part of this valve body likely to house the cover in the open position.

Furthermore, the devices known to date do not always have the desired efficiency with regard to the fixing itself of the cover on the valve body.

The narrowing of the section of the cylindrical part and the possible lack of effectiveness of the known arrangements constitute disadvantages which the invention aims to remedy.

The invention relates to a gate valve, as described in EP-A-0 198 109, the constitution of which is in accordance with the preamble of claim 1.

According to the invention, the provisions of the characterizing part of claim 1 are adopted.

  • la distance radiale entre l'axe du couvercle et la périphérie externe d'un appendice est inférieure à la distance radiale entre l'axe central de la face interne de la paroi du corps de vanne définissant ladite ouverture et ladite face interne, afin de permettre l'introduction de présentation des appendices en regard des ouvertures desdites alvéoles borgnes ;
  • un joint d'étanchéité est disposé entre l'une des faces de la bride et un épaulement, dont est muni le couvercle ;
  • ledit joint d'étanchéité est disposé entre la face de la bride qui est celle des deux faces de la bride qui est la plus éloignée du presse-étoupe et l'épaulement du couvercle, qui est orienté vers ledit presse-étoupe ;
  • la partie externe du couvercle comprend un alésage taraudé qui coopère avec un filetage externe du presse-étoupe pour la fixation dudit presse-étoupe, des joints d'étanchéité du presse-étoupe étant disposés entre la partie extrême de la tige filetée et le presse-étoupe, et, entre le presse-étoupe et ledit couvercle, respectivement ;
  • des joints d'étanchéité sont disposés, d'une part, entre la plaque supérieure et le couvercle, d'autre part, entre la plaque supérieure et la face transversale externe du corps de vanne ;
  • les alvéoles borgnes s'étendent radialement vers l'extérieur du corps de vanne, les parois les délimitant ne chevauchant pas la face intérieure sensiblement cylindrique, à section constante, de la paroi délimitant la chambre, de sorte que l'ouverture de cette chambre ne provoque aucun rétrécissement de la section de ladite chambre ;
  • les alvéoles borgnes sont réalisées dans des excroissances de la paroi délimitant la chambre, excroissances qui s'étendent radialement vers l'extérieur du corps de vanne ;
The following advantageous arrangements are also preferably adopted:
  • the radial distance between the axis of the cover and the external periphery of an appendage is less than the radial distance between the central axis of the internal face of the wall of the valve body defining said opening and said internal face, in order to allow the introduction of presentation of the appendices opposite the openings of said blind cells;
  • a seal is arranged between one of the faces of the flange and a shoulder which is provided with the cover;
  • said seal is disposed between the face of the flange which is that of the two faces of the flange which is furthest from the cable gland and the shoulder of the cover, which is oriented towards said cable gland;
  • the external part of the cover comprises a threaded bore which cooperates with an external thread of the cable gland for fixing said cable gland, gaskets of the cable gland being disposed between the end part of the threaded rod and the gland cable gland, and between the cable gland and said cover, respectively;
  • seals are arranged, on the one hand, between the upper plate and the cover, on the other hand, between the upper plate and the external transverse face of the valve body;
  • the blind cells extend radially towards the outside of the valve body, the walls delimiting them not overlapping the substantially cylindrical internal face, of constant section, of the wall delimiting the chamber, so that the opening of this chamber does not causes no narrowing of the section of said chamber;
  • the blind cells are produced in protrusions of the wall delimiting the chamber, protrusions which extend radially outwards from the valve body;

One of the advantages of the invention is to provide a simple and effective arrangement for fixing the cover to the valve body, which does not use the numerous screws and bolts previously used. This advantage is supplemented by the absence of narrowing of the section of the cylindrical part which it is possible to obtain and by the additional possibility of mounting and to dismantle the cover and the other parts without intervening on the fixing of the valve body on the pipe on which it is mounted.

In the illustrated embodiment, the following arrangements can be observed:
  • the cover 11 is provided with two appendages 13 which extend radially, said appendages being spaced angularly in a regular manner (diametrically opposite);
  • the valve body 1 comprises, in the region of the opening 8, two appendages housings symmetrical with respect to the axis 6, each housing being constituted by a blind cell 27 capable of receiving one of the appendages 13 in one "bayonet" type mounting;
  • an upper plate 17, distinct from the valve body, has, on the one hand, a bore 18 traversed by the external part 19 of the cover 11, on the other hand, a face 21, transverse with respect to the axis 6 of said bore , capable of being supported on the external face 26 of the valve body delimiting the opening 8 of said valve body;
  • a nut 23 cooperates with a thread 24, which is provided with the external part 19 of the cover, so as to support, on the one hand, the appendages 13 on the upper transverse walls 25 delimiting the cells 27, on the other hand, the upper plate 17 on the external transverse face 26 delimiting the opening 8 of the valve body.

Seals 20, 22 are arranged, on the one hand, the seal 20, between the upper plate 17 and the cover 11, on the other hand, the seal 22, between the upper plate 17 and the external transverse face 26 valve body.

Furthermore, the blind cells 27 extend radially towards the outside of the valve body, the walls delimiting them not overlapping by the internal face 37 of constant section of the wall 32 delimiting the chamber 7, the opening 8 of this chamber 7 does not cause any narrowing of the section of said chamber 7. The blind cells 27 are produced in protrusions 38 of the wall 32 delimiting the chamber 7, protrusions which extend radially outwards from the valve body.

The radial distance R14 between the axis 6 of the cover 11 and the external periphery 14 of an appendage 13 is less than the radial distance R8 between the central axis 6 of the internal face of the wall of the opening 8 in the area for introducing the appendages 13 inside the cells 27 and said internal face, in order to allow the introduction of the presentation of the appendages 13 opposite the openings 16 of said blind cells 27.

Each appendage is constituted by a flat plate 28, integral with the cover 11 and extending substantially transversely with respect to the axis 6 of the cover, and by a stiffener 29 integral with the cover 11 and the flat plate 28 and extending substantially parallel to the axis 6. The cell 27 is itself stepped to receive this flat plate 28 and this stiffener 29, the height H27 of the part of the cell intended to receive the stiffener 29 being such that after tightening of the nut 23 on the thread 24 of the external part 19 of the cover 11, the flat plates 28 of the various appendages are supported on the transverse walls 25 of the cells, while the stiffeners 29 remain unsupported by said transverse walls 25.

A cet effet, les fonds des alvéoles 27 sont délimités par des parois planes 41, parallèles à l'axe 6, verticales dans la réalisation représentée, parois 41 sur lesquelles lesdits raidisseurs 29 sont susceptibles de venir en appui et ainsi de limiter la rotation du couvercle 11 autour de l'axe 6.Note that each stiffener 29, which has, by its arrangement, the function of strengthening the attachment of the transverse plate 28, adjacent to the body of the cover 11, has another function: that of constituting a stop limiting the rotation of the cover 11 after introduction of each appendage 13 into the corresponding socket 27. To this end, the bottoms of the cells 27 are delimited by flat walls 41, parallel to the axis 6, vertical in the embodiment shown, walls 41 on which said stiffeners 29 are capable of coming to bear and thus limiting the rotation of the cover 11 around axis 6.

The external part 19 of the cover 11 comprises a threaded bore 30 which cooperates with an external thread 31 of the cable gland 12 for fixing the cable gland, seals 33 and 34 of the cable gland being arranged, the seals 33 , between the end part of the threaded rod 9 and the cable gland 12, and the seal 34, between the cable gland 12, the upper part of which is shaped as a flange 42, and the upper face 43 of the cover 11, respectively .

This seal 15 is made of a material with a low coefficient of friction, so as to reduce the operating torque, and, is disposed between the face 35 of the flange 10, which is that of the two faces of the flange which is furthest from the cable gland 12 and the countersinking 36 of the cover, which is oriented towards said cable gland 12.

La figure 1 montre la configuration de cette partie du robinet-vanne, dans laquelle est disposé le joint d'étanchéité 15, dans la configuration d'obturation de la conduite 37 par l'opercule d'obturation 3 et plus généralement dans toute configuration autre que celle de la figure 2, celle-ci correspondant à l'ouverture compléte de la conduite 37 et à la mise en appui forcé de la face supérieure 44 du corps de l'opercule d'obturation 3 sur la face inférieure 45 du couvercle 11.FIG. 1 shows the configuration of this part of the gate valve, in which the seal 15 is disposed, in the configuration for closing the pipe 37 by the sealing lid 3 and more generally in any configuration other than that of FIG. 2, the latter corresponding to the complete opening of the pipe 37 and to the forced pressing of the upper face 44 of the body of the sealing cap 3 on the lower face 45 of the cover 11 .

In this configuration of FIG. 2, it can be seen that the seal 15 is tight and achieves the seal between the face 35 of the flange 10 and the counterbore 36, and that due to the seal otherwise produced by the seals 20 and 22, the chamber 7 is isolated from the upper part of the gate valve and, in particular, from the cable gland 12. This can thus optionally, if necessary, be dismantled, for example in the purpose of changing the seals 33 and 34, even though the pipe 46 remains capable of conveying fluid, not being, in the configuration of FIG. 2, closed by the shutter 3.

The advantages of the arrangements according to the invention will now be recalled with reference to the embodiment which has just been described.

First of all, the embodiment shown comprises the new arrangement of the fixing of the cover 11 to the upper part of the valve body 1, an arrangement which, without calling for bolting of the most widely used known solution, also prevents shrinking of the section of the opening 8 in the area of the fixing of the cover to the upper part of the valve body.

For this purpose, the cover is provided with appendages 13-28-29, which extend radially with respect to the axis 6 of the chamber 7, and which cooperate with the cells 27 formed in the upper part of the wall 32 delimiting room 7.

De manière préférée, les alvéoles 27 sont borgnes, s'étendent uniquement vers l'extérieur du corps de vanne, c'est-à-dire au-delà du cylindre défini par la face interne 37 de la paroi 32, vers l'extérieur du corps de vanne, et ne provoquent de ce fait aucun rétrécissement de la section de la chambre 7.Preferably, the cells 27 are blind, extend only towards the outside of the valve body, that is to say beyond the cylinder defined by the internal face 37 of the wall 32, towards the outside valve body, and therefore cause no narrowing of the section of the chamber 7.

This arrangement could have been made by sparing the cells in the thickness of the wall 32, if this thickness had been sufficient to do this.

However, it appeared advisable not to burden the total weight of the gate valve by providing an allowance over almost the entire height of the wall 32, only in order to allow the cells 27 to be made in the thickness of the upper part. . Therefore, the provision has been made according to which the wall 32 has protrusions which extend outwards and in which the blind cells 27 are formed.

Selon l'invention, la plaque supérieure 17 a été prévue et obture de manière étanche l'ouverture 8, en étant assujettie au corps de vanne 1 au moyen de l'écrou 23.It is naturally appropriate to supplement the aforementioned means for fixing the cover 11, without complete sealing of the chamber 7, by means for closing said chamber 7. According to the invention, the upper plate 17 has been provided and is sealingly closed the opening 8, being subject to the valve body 1 by means of the nut 23.

Of course, the presence of the seals 20 and 22 makes it possible to dispense with having to provide surface conditions of exceptional quality allowing obtaining the seal between the upper plate 17, and, the cover 11 and the face 26 of the valve body, while achieving the desired seal between the plate 17 and the cover and the valve body.

The functions of the flat plates 28 and the stiffeners 29 constituting the appendages 13 have already been described, all of these elements being both simple and effective, capable of allowing satisfactory fixing of the cover 11 on the valve body.

It should also be noted the mounting of the flange 10 between the cable gland 12 and the cover 11 and the judicious choice of the position of the seal 15, choice which allows the dismantling of the cable gland 12 without interruption of the fluid supply provided by the pipe 46. Maintenance of the cable gland is facilitated by the adoption of this particular provision.

Finally, it should be observed that, because, on the one hand, in a new way, no narrowing of the cross section of the inner face 37 of the wall 32 is caused by the opening 8, and, on the other hand , the sealing cap 3 can go back up inside the chamber 7, it becomes possible, without disassembly of the valve body 1 relative to the pipe 46, by simple disassembly of the upper elements of the gate valve - press- packing 12, nut 23, upper plate 17 and cover 11 -, to carry out any maintenance and / or repair work on the screw 9 and the sealing cap 3, and even to take this assembly out of the chamber 7 to repair or replace it with a new set. This also constitutes an important advantage of the embodiment described.
