Description

The present invention relates to a device for attaching the strands of a bracelet to a watch case comprising a crystal and a middle part, said device comprising for each of the strands at least one horn attached to the middle part and a bar for assembling the horn to the strand so as to allow the articulation of said strand on said horn.

Lugs have often been brought back afterwards on the middle. In the case where the middle is round, this mode of operation greatly facilitates the execution of the box both for machining and for termination, since the middle can be machined on the lathe without this machining being able to be hampered by horns which would be an integral part of the middle.

Such an embodiment is described for example in document CH-A-321188 where the middle part has a circular groove in which is engaged at least part of each horn, means being provided to keep this part engaged in said groove and ensure thus fixing the horn to the box. This process however requires relatively complicated machining of the horns first for the part engaging in the groove and then for the visible and curved part of the horn which receives the bracelet.

Another embodiment appears on reading the document CH-A-368427 where the horn enters a housing made in the middle part and is held there by means of a fixing pin. The horn presented in this document is massive and also requires long and complicated machining since one of its ends - that which is introduced into the middle part - is cylindrical and the other of its ends - that which is used to attach the bracelet - is parallelepipedic.

The present invention also provides horns attached to the middle part, these horns however being produced in a much simpler manner than those described in the documents cited above. For this purpose the device for attaching the strands of the bracelet to the watch case is characterized by the fact that the horn comprises at least two thin plates cut into shape and juxtaposed, a portion of said plates being introduced into a blind housing presented by the middle part to receive a pin introduced at the same time into a first hole made in the middle and second holes made in the plates for fixing said horn to said box.

The box 3 comprises a middle part 10, a crystal 9 through which there are needles 12 for displaying the time and a bottom 11. The attachment device comprises for each of the strands 1 and 2 a horn 4 which is attached on the middle. A bar 5 assembles the horn to the strand so as to allow, in a manner known per se, the articulation of the strand on the horn.

Ce logement comporte un fond 25 (voir figure 3).According to an essential characteristic of the invention, the horn 4 comprises at least two plates 6 cut in shape and juxtaposed and then partially introduced into a blind housing 7 made in the middle 10. A pin 8 is received both in a hole 14 made in the middle and in second holes 15 made in the plates to fix the horn to the box. By blind housing is meant here a housing made in the thickness of the middle part and leaving material between the inside of the box and the outside thereof. This housing has a bottom 25 (see Figure 3).

In the middle 10, the blind housing 7 which has the bottom 25. The plates are then introduced into the housing, then the pin 8 is chased first in the first hole 14 made in the middle part then in the second hole 15 made in the plate and finally in the first hole 14 made in the middle (see also Figure 1). FIG. 3 also shows that the strand 2 of the bracelet is fixed to the horn 4 by means of the bar 5 introduced into a hole 16 made in the plates 6 of the horn 4.

To deprive the plate 6 of any mobility when it is fixed to the middle part, it is arranged so that a slice of the plate 6 comes to bear elastically against the bottom 25 of the housing 7 when the pin 8 is inserted into the holes 14 and 15. This is advantageously achieved, as can be seen in FIG. 3, by making a clearance 21 on the edge of the plate which defines two bearing zones 18 and 19, the means allowing the elastic deformation of the consistent edge weakening the plate between the bottom of the clearance 21 and the hole 15, which causes the edge to flex when the pin 8 is inserted into the holes 14 and 15.

Figures 1 and 3 also show that we can take advantage of the presence of the horns 4 to seal the glass 9 on the middle 10. For this purpose the plate 6 has a projection or overhang 17 which bites on the glass and presses it on the middle. The seal is ensured by a lining 13 pinched between the crystal and the middle part.

The only difference consists in fixing the crystal 9 in a housing 26 located on the top of the middle part 10, a seal 27 ensuring the tightness, the plate 6 contributing in no way to the fixing of the crystal to the middle part.

Figure 2 shows a front view of a second embodiment of the fastening device according to the invention. Here each strand of the bracelet is attached to the box 3 by means of two horns 4 each having two plates 6. The plates are fixed in a similar manner to what has been described above.

In these examples, the plates forming the horn all have the same cutout. In the case of FIG. 5 on the other hand, each horn is formed of three plates 30, 31 and 32 whose cutouts are different and this in order to seek an original aesthetic. If the three plates are fixed to the box by the pin 8 already described above, the strand 2 of the bracelet is only attached to the horns 4 by the end of the plate 32 by means of the bar 5.

We will now refer to Figures 6 and 7. In these two figures the horns are made of plates 33 and 34 cut and then folded into a U shape. In the case of Figure 6 the free ends of the U are supported in the bottom of the blind housing made in the middle and the base of the U is arranged to receive the hinge bar of the bracelet strand. Conversely in FIG. 7, it is the base of the U which is supported in the bottom of the blind housing while it is the free ends of the U which are arranged to receive the articulation bar of the strand of the bracelet.

The embodiments which have been described show that the device claimed and using cut plates, allows a host of variants by which the final appearance of the watch can be modified. It should also be mentioned that the plates can be cut from the same strip by means of a stamp. In this case all the plates would have the same coloring. The base material can be steel or gold. We can also consider the alternation of two materials, for example steel and gold to obtain a two-tone appearance. Whatever the material used, it will be noted that the plates forming the horn are easy to produce, without complicated machining, since they come from stamping. As a result, the attachment device is inexpensive while presenting an attractive and new appearance.

Here we recognize the support zones 18 and 19, the projection 17, the clearance 21 and the holes 15 and 16 respectively receiving the pin for fixing the plate to the middle part and the strap for attaching the bracelet strand to the plate. Apart from the configuration described above, the plate has a recess 20, cut at the same time as the outer contour of the plate, this recess allowing a saving of material, particularly if the plate is made of gold.
