Claims (9)

  1. An element for clamping or locking workpieces comprising a housing (1) which is fastened to a worktable and in which a part is arranged which is movable in rotation about a horizontal axis and is provided with a toothed sector (21) co-operating with an endless operating screw (4), the said movable part (2) comprising an arm (3) forming a lever, the end of which comes to bear against the workpiece, characterised in that the said arm (3) is mounted in a detachable manner in the said movable part (2) with the possibility of translation in a direction substantially perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the said movable part (2).
  2. A clamping element according to Claim 1, characterised in that it comprises an arm (30) shaped so as to be able to act by rising and coming to bear under a workpiece that is to be held in position.
  3. A clamping element according to one of the claims 1 or 2, characterised in that the arms (3, 30) comprise several recesses (23) co-operating with a locking device (14) fastened in the said movable part (2).
  4. A clamping element according to Claim 2, characterised in that is comprises two members (31, 33) for fastening to the worktable, these two members being arranged on either side of the axis of rotation of the movable part.
  5. A clamping element according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the said movable part (2) comprises an axial cylindrical central recess (24) in which there are arranged two identical circular cheek members (9) which are "L"-shaped and arranged "head to tail" so as to form a central seating for the arm (3, 30).
  6. A clamping element according to Claim 5, characterised in that the two cheek members (9) are fastened respectively one to the other by means of a screw (25) traversing one of the cheek members and engaging in a tapped hole (27) of the other cheek member.
  7. A clamping element according to Claim 6, characterised in that the said movable part comprises a centring device (17) for at least one of the said cheek members (9).
  8. A clamping element according to Claim 2, characterised in that the free end of the said lifting arm (30) has a curved shape (34), the concavity of which is directed upwards.
  9. A clamping element according to any one of Claims 1 to 8, characterised in that the clamping shoe (12) comprises a contact surface (41) the length of which is substantially equal to twice the width, this contact surface (41) comprising a cut-away zone (42) at its centre.
