Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an improved water-saving rinsing washing machine.
  • Known washing machines usually include in their rinsing cycle several rinses which each include the following operations: filling the tank with water, stirring the laundry by rotating the washing drum and emptying the tank. Some rinses are completed during the emptying of the tank by a spin of the laundry said intermediate spin which allows to extract from this laundry a relatively large amount of detergent water retained by this laundry. The earlier the intermediate spins start in the first rinses and the greater the speed of these intermediate spins of the laundry, the greater the quantity of detergent water extracted from this laundry. The greater this quantity of detergent water extracted from the laundry, the lower the residual quantity of detergent water retained in the laundry thus spun. When the residual quantity of detergent water retained by the laundry spun in a previous rinse is low, the pollution of the bath of a subsequent rinse by this residual detergent water is also low. The essential number of rinsing of the laundry in the rinsing cycle is then low and the amount of water consumed by these rinses is therefore advantageously reduced.
  • the aim of the present invention is to avoid these drawbacks and makes it possible to produce a rinsing washing machine improved in quality and economical in water, with intermediate spins carried out at relatively high speeds.
  • a process for rinsing laundry in a washing machine is characterized in that the intermediate spin, to be done at a selected speed of between 400 rpm and about 1000 rpm, is interrupted as soon as '' a foaming emulsion in formation in the tank reaches a predetermined degree of importance, the foam being detected by means of a measurement of the growth of the intensity of the electric current of the driving motor of the laundry drum, a preset value of this growth in the intensity of the electric current corresponding to this predetermined degree of importance of this frothy emulsion, and the intermediate spin is restored after evacuation of this frothy emulsion by a drain pump, the interruption and restoration of this spin is renewed until this intermediate spin of the laundry is carried out at said selected speed.
  • a washing machine 1 produced according to the invention and illustrated in Figures 1 to 3, comprises a body 2, a tank 3, a washing drum 4 rotating around a horizontal axis 5 and driven in rotation by an electric motor 7 , and a pump 8 for emptying the tank 3.
  • the washing machine 1 mainly comprises in its operation a prewash cycle, a washing cycle, a rinsing cycle and a final spin cycle.
  • the rinsing cycle comprises several rinses, each of which begins with a filling of the tank with water then a stirring of the laundry in this water and finally ends with a draining of this tank 3, accompanied by a spinning of the so-called intermediate spinning which makes it possible to extract a relatively large amount of water from this linen.
  • the detergent water retained by a cloth at the exit of a previous rinsing is diluted by the bath of a following rinsing then extracted from this cloth and evacuated with this bath in towards the outside by the drain pump 8.
  • the washing machine 1 comprises at the end of each rinsing of its rinsing cycle and during an emptying of the tank 3, an intermediate spin of the laundry at a selected high speed, an interruption of this intermediate spin as soon as that a formation of a frothy emulsion reaches a degree of importance predetermined and a recovery of this spin at high speed after evacuation of this frothy emulsion by the drain pump, this interruption and this recovery being renewed until this intermediate spin can be performed at the selected high speed.
  • the high speed chosen for the intermediate spins is preferably between 400 revolutions per minute and 1000 revolutions per minute.
  • a foaming emulsion may form. If the spin continues, this frothy emulsion becomes more and more abundant and dense, hinders the evacuation of detergent water from the tank and results in the formation, with this non-evacuated water, of a ring of a frothy emulsion around of the washing drum, which generates an unpleasant noise and overflowing foam.
  • a stop of this spinning interrupts the development of this foaming emulsion, and facilitates rapid evacuation by the drain pump 8 of this washing water and this foaming emulsion accumulated in the tank 3.
  • the intermediate spinning of the laundry at a selected high speed is restored to extract a maximum quantity of washing water retained by this washing and leave in this washing a minimal residual quantity of washing water which pollutes the bath of a subsequent rinsing. Thanks to this high speed spin, the essential number of rinses in a rinse cycle can be reduced to a minimum as well as the amount of water consumed by these rinses. Improved rinsing of the laundry is thus obtained with an appreciable saving in rinsing water.
  • a formation of a frothy emulsion reaching a predetermined degree of importance during an intermediate spin of the laundry is detected by means of a measurement of a growth in the intensity of the electric current of the laundry drum drive taking place during of a period at stabilized speed of this spinning and when a predetermined value of this growth in the intensity of electric current, which corresponds to this predetermined degree of importance of this formation of the foaming emulsion is reached.
  • the interval t3 t5 where the speed of the drum 4 is stabilized at 400 revolutions per minute, first in the case of washing the laundry without detergent, the intensity drops in the interval t3-t4 of the value i3 at a lower value i4 and continues to go down to an i5 value lower than i4 (figure 2, curve A) and then in the case of washing the laundry with a detergent, the intensity also goes down from the value i3 at a lower value i4 in the interval t3-t4 but this intensity rises from the value i4 to a higher value i5 in t5 ( Figure 3, curve A) in the interval t4-t5.
  • This intensity of the current in the motor 7 thus faithfully reflects the degree of importance of formation of the foaming emulsion in the tank 3.
  • the washing machine comprises at the end of each rinsing of its rinsing cycle and during a drain, an intermediate spin of the laundry, at a high speed chosen with a speed increase in stages, a measuring a growth in the intensity of the electric current of the laundry drum drive motor occurring during each of these stages, that is to say periods when the rotational speeds of the drum are stabilized in this rise in the intermediate spin speed, an interruption of this spin as soon as this increase in the intensity of electric current reaches a preset value corresponding to a predetermined degree of importance of a formation of a frothy emulsion in the tank 3 and a re-establishment of this spin at high speed after evacuation of this frothy emulsion by the drain pump) this interruption and this re-establishment is re new until this intermediate spin can be performed at the selected high speed.
  • this speed is obtained by an increase in speed in successive stages, for example by stabilized speed stages at 100, 300, 450, 850 revolutions per minute. Measurements of growth of the intensity of the electric current of the drive motor 7 of the laundry drum 4 are carried out during each of these speed steps where the speeds of the laundry drum 4 are respectively stabilized at 100, 300, 450 and 850 revolutions per minute.
  • the intermediate spin is interrupted to allow evacuation of the washing water and the foaming emulsion from the tank 3, by this drain pump, and restored again after this evacuation until this intermediate spin of the laundry can be done at a selected high speed.
