Description

The invention relates to a headlight for a vehicle, in particular for a two-wheeler with a light source which is surrounded by an ellipsoidal reflector, from which the light rays reach a lens through which the light rays emerge towards the road.

Headlamps for motor vehicles are known which have one or more lenses on the light exit side in order to design the optical properties of the headlamp more precisely, in particular around the boundary between light and dark zones. In this regard, reference is made to the German laid-open documents 2437249, 3311762 and 3340796.

The object of the invention is to improve a headlight of the type mentioned in such a way that it contributes to an increased degree to the traffic safety of the vehicle.

This object is achieved in that the lens and / or the emerging main beam fills only part of the headlight front surface and at least one remaining surface of the headlight front surface has at least one reflector which reflects external light impinging on the headlight front surface from the front in the directions of incidence.

Such a headlight also takes on the role of a reflector, i.e. Light incident on the headlight from outside is thrown back in the direction of incidence, so that the front of the vehicle is secured in an increased manner both when the headlight is switched on and when it is switched off. Here, the teaching according to the invention makes particularly advantageous use of the fact that when a lens is arranged, it is possible for all the light from the light source to emerge through the lens and still have enough space on the front of the headlight to additionally use it as a reflector use without having to make the front surface of the headlight larger than usual. The headlight can thus have small outer dimensions with a simple and inexpensive construction.

It is particularly advantageous if the lens is arranged approximately in the center of the headlight front surface and is surrounded in a ring by the reflector. A structurally simple construction with an optically appealing exterior is created when two forward-looking reflectors are arranged above and below the lens. In this case, the lens can also have a greater width than its height and a reflector can be arranged in the headlight front surface above and below the lens.

It is also proposed that, in addition to the forward reflecting reflector (s), a reflecting element laterally acting to the right and left to the direction of the headlight is arranged. This headlight also has a signal effect to the sides of the vehicle. It is preferably proposed that the rays of the light sources striking the inside or back of the reflector pass through the reflector and exit to the front or to the side. This significantly increases the signal effect of the headlamp to be seen by other road users.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing in an axial section and is described in more detail below.

The headlight can be used in particular in motor vehicles and bicycles and has an ellipsoidal reflector 1 or an ellipsoidal reflecting surface, in the focal point or of which focal point a light source, in particular a light bulb, is attached. The rays emanating from the light source 2 reach the front of the headlight through a lens made of glass or transparent plastic, which acts as a refractor (diffusing lens) and has a concave shape. The lens 3 thus aligns the light rays approximately parallel to one another, so that this bundle of parallel light rays illuminates the road in front of the vehicle.

The vertical, in particular round, oval or rectangular approximately flat front surface 4 is only partially filled by the lens 3. Either the lens 3 only needs a central, in particular round, area of the front surface, so that an annular residual surface 5 around the lens 3 remains, or the lens 3 is elongated, ie its cross-section is constant over its horizontal length and there are residual areas 5 in the form of circular sections above and below the lens 3.

In both cases, 5 reflectors 6 (retroreflectors, cat eyes, triple prism) are arranged or fastened in or on these remaining surfaces, which reflect the external light striking the front of the headlight in the direction of incidence.

In addition, the reflectors 6 can be transparent to rays emanating from the light source 2, so that the reflectors 6 shine brightly, in particular white, even when external light is not incident from outside. Furthermore, further reflectors can be attached to the side surfaces of the headlamp.
