Claims (5)

  1. Device for continuous casting of molten metal (1) comprising two parallel horizontal cylinders (2a, 2b; 13, 14) separated by a predetermined distance (d) delimiting, between them, a space intended to receive the molten metal cast as a flat product under the cylinders, as well as plates (4, 15) for closing the ends of this space, which are arranged against the front faces of the cylinders or against a front face of a cylinder (14) and a part of the cylindrical surface of the other cylinder (13), if the two cylinders are offset axially, characterised in that it comprises rolling members (7, 9) interposed between the said closing plates (4, 15) and the said faces of the cylinders in order to maintain a specific constant clearance between them during casting.
  2. Device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the said rolling members (7, 9) are incorporated in the closing plates (4, 15) and held so as to bear against the opposite surfaces of the cylinders (2a, 2b; 13, 14) via elastic elements (10; 16, 17).
  3. Device according to Claim 2, characterised in that the rolling members are balls (9) and/or rollers (7) whose axes are arranged according to radii (r) of the cylinders, and held in position with respect to the plates (4, 15) so that the distance between the surfaces of the plates (4, 15) and the opposite surfaces of the cylinders (2a, 2b; 13, 14) is equal to the desired clearance (e).
  4. Device according to Claim 1, in which the cylinders (13, 14) are offset axially and each closing plate (15) has a concave edge (15a) matching the convex contour (13b) of the cylindrical wall of a first corresponding cylinder (13), whilst its plane face partially covers the associated front face (14a) of the second cylinder (14), characterised in that each plate (15) is equipped with rolling members (7, 9) bearing, on the one hand, on the front face (14a) of the said second cylinder (14), and, on the other hand, on the cylindrical surface (13b) of the first cylinder (13), elastic means (16, 17) being arranged in order to hold the plate (15) against the front face (14a) and against the said cylindrical surface.
  5. Device according to Claim 4, characterised in that the rolling members are rollers (7, 26) or balls (9) incorporated in the concave edge (15a) of the plate (15), and rollers (7, 26) or balls (9) incorporated in the plate (15) opposite the plane front face (14a) of the second cylinder (14).
