Description

The invention relates to a watch comprising means for lateral positioning of the movement in the box, these means being more particularly intended to keep the movement centered in the box despite the forces which may be applied to it by the rod or the push buttons, during the use of the watch, especially in the case of watches of the chronograph type or with multiple functions.

Document CH 650 894 already discloses a watch having a middle part provided with an annular shoulder and a crystal on which an annular clamping surface is formed. This assembly is designed so that when the glass is fixed on the box, part of the annular surface of the glass comes to bear on the periphery of the dial previously centered by a notch provided on its edge, in order to immobilize this last against the annular shoulder.

If these means advantageously allow to bring together the middle and the crystal while positioning the dial, the fact remains that the movement must be maintained in all circumstances correctly positioned in the box which is not mentioned in this document.

Indeed, in the case of watches of the chronograph type with pushers, the push button or pushers, when they are actuated, exert forces of the order of 10 Newton on the movement. Such forces then tend to move the movement laterally in the case, which, in the absence of lateral positioning means, introduces after a certain time a play in the positioning of the movement in the case detrimental to the proper functioning of the chronograph. This phenomenon is accentuated in the case where the box is made of a soft material such as plastic.

In addition, the absence of such lateral positioning at the time of mounting the movement in the case may, due to the poor centering of the axis of the hands relative to the dial, distort the reading of the time and, consequently, , to taint the aesthetic aspect of the watch.

The main object of the invention is therefore to remedy the drawbacks of the aforementioned prior art by producing a watch in which the movement is positioned laterally in a simple and safe manner in the watch case.

To this end, the subject of the invention is a watch comprising a middle part and a case back together forming a box, a movement and a dial arranged in this box, and a crystal attached to the middle part to block the movement and the dial according to a direction perpendicular to the dial, the watch also comprising at least one movement control member acting mechanically on the latter, means for centering the dial relative to the box and means for lateral positioning of the movement in the box.

According to the invention, said lateral positioning means are associated with a centering member integral with the box defining a lateral support for a surface complementary to the movement, this member being provided substantially in a zone diametrically opposite the axis of a control elements.

Thus, thanks to these characteristics the forces transmitted via the rod or push buttons are taken up by the centering member and have no effect on the positioning of the movement. This therefore increases the reliability and the lifespan of the watch.

Such characteristics are particularly advantageous in the case of watches of the chronograph type with pushers and this particularly when the case is made of a slightly rigid material such as plastics.

In addition, according to an alternative embodiment of the invention, the lateral positioning means comprise at least two centering members integral with the box, each defining a lateral support for a surface complementary to the movement. And preferably, the positioning means are associated with two diametrically opposite blind holes formed in the box, the two centering members having a first part driven into the blind holes, and a second part projecting from the box and cooperating with openings in the movement.

Thus, when the movement is placed in the box, the latter centers itself by engaging on said parts in protrusion of the centering members so that the movement is blocked both in rotation and in translation inside the box and that one obtains thereafter a satisfactory maintenance of the movement in the box and a good centering of the needles relative to the dial.

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the following description of an embodiment given without implied limitation in connection with the attached drawings, among which:
  • FIG. 1 is a partial sectional view along line II of a watch provided with means for lateral positioning of the movement in the case according to the invention, and
  • Figures 2 and 3 are top views partially broken away from a watch according to Figure 1, the glass and the needles having been omitted.

La boîte 6 contient, de façon classique, un mouvement 8 d'où sortent les axes 9 des aiguilles 10 traversant un cadran 12 et est fermée par une glace 14.Referring to the figures, we can see in a schematic form a watch of the push-button chronograph type, for example, generally designated by the reference numeral 1. This watch 1 comprises a middle part 2 and a back 4 in this case defining a box 6 in one piece. The box 6 contains, in a conventional manner, a movement 8 from which the axes 9 of the hands 10 exit through a dial 12 and is closed by a crystal 14.

In the example illustrated, the box 6 and the glass 14 are made of heat-sealable plastic materials together as is precisely described in patent CH 650 894.

The internal face of the box 6 comprises a plurality of shoulders 16, 18, 20 molded to receive the glass 14 respectively, the dial 12 and the movement 8. The shoulder 16 receiving the ice is completed by an annular groove 22 in which is housed and fixed a rib 24 of the glass.

In addition, the crystal 14 includes an annular clamping surface 26 partially bearing on the peripheral edge of the dial in order to block it axially, that is to say in a direction perpendicular to the bottom 4. Furthermore, the movement 8 comprises a thread 28 clamped between the underside of the dial and the shoulder 20 so that the latter is also locked axially inside the box.

Of course, the watch conventionally comprises means for centering the dial relative to the case. These means consist, for example, of one or more notches 29 formed at the periphery of the dial and cooperating with corresponding lugs provided on the shoulder 18.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention (FIG. 2), the means for lateral positioning of the movement in the box are associated on the one hand, with two blind holes 30 formed in the box. More specifically, the shoulder 20 has two projecting parts 31 (one of which is shown in dotted lines in the drawing) diametrically opposite and directed towards the inside of the box so that each blind hole 30 can be partially formed in the shoulder 20 and in the projecting part 31.

On the other hand, these positioning means comprise two centering members 32, each of them having a first part 34 which is driven into a hole 30 in the middle and a second part 36 which projects from the surface of the 'additional shoulder to cooperate with openings 38 made in the thread 28 of the movement 8. On the other hand, in the variant shown in Figure 3 the lateral positioning means comprise a single centering member as described above, the latter being provided substantially in a zone diametrically opposite the axis of one of the control members 39.

The centering members 32 are advantageously made of a material which is relatively harder than the material of the box 6 so that the latter can be easily removed from the box.

In the example illustrated, the centering members are made of metal and have the shape of a nail. The nail comprises, on the one hand, a cylindrical shoulder 36 shoulder adjusted to slide over the openings 38. On the other hand, the nail comprises a rod 34 having a plurality of flanges 40 formed in the manner of a harpoon. These flanges 40 have a frustoconical shape, the large base directed towards the side of the head of the nail having a diameter greater than that of the rod and the small base directed towards the end of the rod having the same diameter as that of the rod.

The use of rods having projections is more particularly justified in the illustrated example in which the box is in plastic material due to their mechanical properties. Indeed, the plastic has an elasticity such that it prevents any satisfactory blocking of a smooth metal rod simply driven out. This is why, according to a characteristic of the invention, when the rod provided with projections penetrates into the box, the latter (harder than the box) elastically deform the plastic material which, when the rod is in position, conforms thanks to its elasticity. clean, the shape of the projections thus achieving effective blocking of the rod in the box.

According to an alternative embodiment of the centering members, it is possible to provide a screw with spaced and deep threads in order to facilitate penetration of the latter into the box.

Preferably, the rod of the centering member has a length L of between 4 and 5 times the diameter in holes to ensure correct maintenance of the movement in position.

It will be noted that in the case where it is a box made of metal, the flanges provided on the centering members are not necessary, a stud of conventional type driven into the box can be used as a centering member.
