Sicherungsleiste 6, aus der heraus sich die Vorteile des erfindungsgemäßen Steckverbinders 21 ergeben, ist wie folgt: Zunächst wird die Sicherungsleiste 6 im Formstoffkörper 2 vorfixiert, indem sie von dessen mit der Einschuböffnung 23 versehenen Schmalseite in die Aussparung des Formstoffkörpers 2 bis knapp vor einem an der geschlossenen Schmalseite angeordneten nicht dargestellten Anschlag eingeschoben wird. Die beiden Bügelwangen 33 besitzen außerdem jeweils einen Kurvenschlitz 28, dessen Kreisbogen um den Lagerzapfen 26 verläuft und der mit hochgebogenen Führungsrändern 38 versehen ist, zwischen denen ein Verriegelungszapfen 27 geführt ist, der nahe dem Stirnende an einer Flachseite des Gehäuses 1b der anderen Steckverbinderhälfte 19 angeformt ist. In dieser Offenstellung ist der Bügel 15 am Gehäuse 1a dadurch verrastend und leicht lösbar gehalten, daß in eine kleine Aussparung 41 an einer der Bügelwangen 33 eine am Gehäuse 1a angeformte, mit Schrägflächen versehene kleine Nase 42 dadurch verrastend greift, daß die betreffende Bügelwange 33 elastisch federnd über die Nase bis zur Aussparung 41 hinweg gleitet. In der in Fig. 4 dargestellten Geschlossen- bzw. Verriegelungsstellung des Steckverbinders 21 ist, wie insbesondere aus Fig. 3 ersichtlich ist, der Handhabungssteg 34 des Bügels 15 mit seinem Innenrand 43 hinter einer elastisch federnden Zunge 44 verrastend gehalten. Die Zunge 44 ist ein langgestrecktes stegförmiges Bauteil, das am Gehäuse 1a der Steckverbinderhälfte 18 angeformt ist. Das freie Ende 45 der Zunge 44, hinter das der Handhabungssteg 35 schnappt, kann zur Entriegelung des Bügelverschlußes 22 gemäß Pfeil D nach unten gedrückt werden, so daß der Bügel 15 gemäß Pfeil E wieder in seine Offenstellung zurück verschwenkt werden kann. Dieses Zusammenziehen erfordert nur relativ geringe Bedienkräfte. Lockable electrical connector with two connector halves (18, 19) each of which has a housing (1a, 1b) with an insulating moulded plastic body (2; 2b) inserted from the plugging side which contains bores (4) for receiving contacts (3; 30) and with a stirrup fastener (22) which comprises a pivotably supported stirrup (15) arranged on the one connector half (18), which stirrup (15), after engagement in the other connector half (19), is locked in an end position, characterized in that locking hooks (7) are formed in the bores (4), that a securing strip (6) is displaceably held in a cavity in the moulded plastic body (2; 2b) and contains, for receiving the contacts (3a, 3b; 30) bores running crosswise in relation to its displacement direction which are in alignment with the bores (4) in the moulded plastic body (2, 26), that holding shoulders (8) are formed in the transverse bores (5) facing towards the bores (4) and that the contacts (3a, 3b; 30) comprise in each case, in a central area, two annular slots (10, 11) spaced apart for the locking hooks (7) or for the locking shoulders (8).

A connector as claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the moulded plastic body (2) comprises at least one guide slot (12) and the securing strip (6) comprises at least one guide channel (13) into which, when the connector halves are placed together, at least one guide strut (14) of the housing (1a; 13) is inserted.
  5. A connector as claimed in Claim 4, characterized in that the guide strut (14) on the housing(1a; 1b) is fixed rigidly and projects over the latter's front face at least in this area.
  6. A connector as claimed in at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the stirrup (15) of the stirrup fastener (22) is formed integrally from a thin metal cheet which has in it bearing holes (36) with raised edges (37) for bearing pins (26) on the one connector half (18, 19), curved slots (28) with raised edges (38) for locking pins (27) on the other connector half (19, 18) and raised struts (39) at the end of the curved slots (28), bridging these over, for insertion of the locking pins (27).
  7. A connector as claimed in Claim 6, characterized in that the stirrup (15) with its manipulating plate (34) bridging the two side cheeks (33) is lockable in its locking condition connecting the two connector halves (18, 19) behind a long springing tongue (44) on the housing (1a) of the connector half (19, 18) in question.
  8. A connector as claimed in either one of Claims 6 or 7, characterized in that at least one of the side cheeks (33) of the stirrup (15) is provided with a recess (41) and the housing (1a) of the connector half (18, 19) in question is provided with a nose (42) and that the side cheek (33) of the stirrup (15), in the opening position of the stirrup fastener (22), locks in a springing manner over the nose (42).
  9. A connector as claimed in at least one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the bridging struts (39) in the open position of the stirrup (15) and the guide slots (12) in the moulded plastic body (2) of the connector half (18) are basically opposite to each other.
