Abstract
Description
Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum vertikalen elektromagnetischen Giessen von Rund- bzw. Hohlrundbarren, insbesondere aus Aluminium und Aluminiumlegierungen. Im Rahmen der Erfindung liegt auch eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Verfahrens.The invention relates to a method for the vertical electromagnetic casting of round or hollow round bars, in particular of aluminum and aluminum alloys. Ein ungünstiges Metalleinlaufsystem sowie eine ungleichmässige Spritzwasserkühlung führen oft zu einer Qualitätsminderung der Giessprodukte. Hierbei ergibt sich beispielsweise ein ungleichmässiges Zellgefüge oder sogar Ausschuss infolge Kalt/Warm-Risse, was im Extremfall einen Giessabbruch zu Folge hat. Der negative Einfluss des Metalleinlaufsystems und der Spritzwasserkühlung auf die Qualität des zu giessenden Barrens nimmt mit kleinerer Giessgeschwindigkeit noch zu; dies ist vor allem der Fall beim Giessen von grossformatigen Pressbarren.An unfavorable metal inlet system and uneven spray water cooling often lead to a reduction in the quality of the cast products. Bezüglich des Verfahrens wird die Aufgabe dadurch gelöst, dass der Barren während des Giessvorgangs um seine Längsachse rotiert. Damit wird die Metallspeisung sowie die Strangkühlung symmetrisiert. Das erfindungsgemässe Verfahren ist demzufolge geeignet für das elektromagnetische Giessen von grossformatigen Barren. Zusätzlich sind auch die geometrischen Toleranzen für diese Giessprodukte besser. Darüber hinaus ist bei erfindungsgemäss gegossenen Barren das Zellgefüge über den Barrenquerschnitt gleichmässiger.With regard to the method, the object is achieved in that the ingot rotates about its longitudinal axis during the casting process. Eine elektromagnetische Stranggiessanlage besteht gemäss Fig. 1 im wesentlichen aus einem Induktor 1, einem Schirm 2, einer -- in der Zeichnung nicht dargestellten -- Spritzwasserkühlung, einem Metalleinlaufsystem oder Schwimmer 3, einer Giessdüse 4 zur Schmelzezufuhr, einem Niveausensor 5 zur Regelung des Metallstands in der Kokille sowie einem Anfahrboden 6.
