- the invention is based on the recognition of the fact that, according to experiments carried out by the Applicant, the solution in which an upper or outer soft, resilient layer is simply combined with a lower or base support layer which is also resilient but slightly harder (as in the case of the combination of two polyurethane layers) is intrinsically unsuitable for providing an ergonomically-effective solution: in fact, with this solution, it is impossible to reconcile the need to ensure driving or travelling comfort with the need to prevent the layered squab unit from being compressed (becoming, so to speak, "compacted") in the presence of very high stresses, such as those resulting from travelling over rough ground, until its function of mechanical insulation from the underlying rigid structure (the framework of the seat) is cancelled out, creating a situation (so-called "bumping") which is very disagreable for the driver.
- a very soft lower layer provides good driving and travelling comfort, but shows a marked tendency to become deformed in the presence of high stresses.
- a harder lower layer avoids the risk of deformation or "compaction" of the layered structure in the presence of a high stress, but is generally rather hard and uncomfortable under normal travelling conditions.
- a seat for vehicles such as snowmobiles comprising three foam layers, wherein the upper and lower layers are polyurethane and the center layer is poly ethylene. Those layers are arranged in such a way as to interact with an injury model in order to minimise the deformation and injury to the spine occasioned by the impact of the rider's torso upon the seat.

Claims (9)
- Sitz (1) umfassend eine Polsterungsgesamtheit (5) mit einem Schichtaufbau, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Schichtaufbau umfaßt:- eine weiche, elastische Basisschicht (6), welche im wesentlichen aus Polyurethanschaumstoff mit einer Dicke von zwischen ungefähr 5 und ungefähr 7,1 cm hergestellt ist,- eine Zwischenschicht (7) mit plastischem Gedächtnis, welche im wesentlichen aus Polyethylenschaumstoff mit einer Dicke von zwischen ungefähr 0,5 und ungefähr 1,5 cm hergestellt ist, und- eine weiche Außenschicht (8), welche im wesentlichen aus Polyurethanschaumstoff mit einer Dicke von zwischen ungefähr 1 und ungefähr 1,5 cm hergestellt ist,worin die Schicht (7) mit plastischem Gedächtnis ihren nicht verformten Zustand zwischen ungefähr 0,1 und ungefähr 1 Sekunde, nachdem die verformende Belastung aufgehört hat, wieder einnimmt, und vorzugsweise um das obere Ende dieses Bereichs.
- Sitz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Schichtaufbau ferner eine obere Schutzschicht (9) umfaßt, welche zum Abdecken der Außenschicht (8) angeordnet ist.
- Sitz nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Schutzschicht (9) aus einem Material hergestellt ist, das aus einer Gruppe ausgewählt ist, welche aus: Tuch, Kunststoffmaterial und Naturleder besteht.
- Sitz nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß nur das Sitzteil (2) die Schicht (7) mit plastischem Gedächtnis (6) umfaßt.
- Sitz nach einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sowohl das Sitzteil (2) als die Rückenlehne (3) die Schicht (7) mit plastischem Gedächtnis umfassen.
- Sitz nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß er ferner eine im wesentlichen undehnbare zusätzliche Schicht (10) umfaßt, welche in Kontakt mit der Zwischenschicht (7) angeordnet ist.
- Sitz nach Anspruch 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die zusätzliche Schicht (10) aus Tuch besteht ist.
- Sitz nach Anspruch 6 oder Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die zusätzliche Schicht (10) in einer anhaftenden Beziehung zur Zwischenschicht (7) angeordnet ist.
- Sitz nach einem der Ansprüche 6 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die zusätzliche Schicht (10) unter der Zwischenschicht (7) angeordnet ist.
