Abstract

A handle for a piece of furniture, for example in a front piece (12) of a chest of drawers formed by plastic profiles, is formed by a panel (14), a rear part (16) at least partially covered by the panel, a handle recess (20) moulded into the panel, and a handle part (18) projecting partially over the handle recess. According to the invention, a simplified manufacture without impairing the appearance is achieved by the fact that the handle part (18) is constructed integrally with the panel (14), that the panel (14) is open towards the rear part (16) in the region of the handle recess (20) covered by the handle part (18), and that the rear part forms a section (22, 24) of the handle recess fitted into the opening of the panel. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a furniture handle according to the preamble of claim 1.

Furniture handles of this type are formed, for example, on drawer front pieces, which are composed of at least two plastic molded parts. One of the molded parts forms a panel on the visible side of the front piece and is attached to the second molded part, which serves as the back part, and is glued or welded to it. The handle is formed by a separate handle part and a handle shell molded into the cover, which makes it easier to grasp the handle part.

From US-A-4 586 762, a furniture handle of the type mentioned is known, in which the back part is formed by a foam plastic mass which fills the cavity of the bowl-shaped cover which is open towards the rear. The handle part is formed in one piece on the panel and protrudes over the handle shell, so that the user can reach behind the handle part when pulling out the drawer. However, such a construction of the screen leads to demolding difficulties, so that complex and expensive injection molding tools are required.

The invention has for its object to provide a furniture handle of the type mentioned, which consists of only two parts and still allows production with little tooling.

This object is achieved according to the invention by the subject matter of claim 1.

In the proposed furniture handle, the handle part is formed in one piece with the panel. A simple demolding of the panel is made possible in that the panel is open to the back part in the region of the handle shell covered by the handle part. The back part forms a wall section of the handle shell, which fills the opening of the panel with a perfect fit after the panel and back part have been joined together, so that the opening of the panel in the region of the handle shell does not appear visually. All that remains is a joint running across the bottom of the grip shell between the wall sections of the grip shell belonging to the panel and the back part. However, this narrow parting line is hardly noticeable and is particularly difficult to see from a distance. If the handle is arranged at a conveniently accessible gripping height on the piece of furniture, a viewer standing in front of the piece of furniture sees the handle from an oblique viewing angle, so that the parting line is covered by the handle part.

The furniture handle according to the invention is thus characterized not only by simple handling, but also by a visually appealing appearance, despite simple manufacture.

Advantageous refinements of the subject matter of the invention are specified in the subclaims.

A preferred exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings.

  • Fig. 2 einen Querschnitt des Vorderstücks gemäß Figur 1.
Show it:
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of a drawer front piece with a furniture handle according to the invention. and
  • 2 shows a cross section of the front piece according to FIG. 1.

A drawer front piece 12 provided with a handle 10 is formed by a panel 14 and a back part 16. The panel 14 and the back part 16 are two shell-shaped plastic molded parts which are assembled into a board-like hollow body and glued or welded to one another are. The joints between the panel 14 and the back part 16 are exaggerated in Figure 2 for reasons of clarity.

The handle 10 is formed by a strip-shaped handle part 18 which is formed in one piece with the cover 14 and a handle shell 20 which is recessed with respect to the surface of the cover 14 and which allows fingers to be gripped behind the handle part 18. The grip shell 20 has a trapezoidal outline and is delimited on both narrow sides and on the longitudinal side opposite the grip part 18 by sloping walls 26, 28. On the other long side, the grip shell is delimited by a web 22 of the back part 16. A wall section 24 of the handle shell 20 which runs parallel to the handle part 18 is formed by a part of the bottom 30 of the back part 16. The parting line 32 between the parts of the handle shell 20 belonging to the panel 14 and the back part 16 extends across the end walls 26 and along the boundary between the sloping wall 28 and the wall section 24.

The panel 14 is thus open in the region of the handle shell 20 covered by the handle part 18 - downward in FIG. 2. The back part 16 is open at the top and, with its web 22, the wall section 24 and parts of the walls 26, forms a part of the grip shell 20 that fits precisely into the opening of the panel. This construction enables both the panel 14 and the back part 16 to be included To produce simple molds that can be moved apart in the vertical direction in Figure 2.

The visible surfaces of the panel 14 and the back part 16 are grained, as indicated by dotted lines and areas in FIG. 2.

It can be seen in FIG. 2 that the dividing line 32 is level with the edge of the handle part 18. This parting plane is inclined with respect to the surfaces of the panel and the base part in such a way that the wall section 24 of the grip shell has a somewhat larger width than the grip part 18.

The back part 16 is provided with crosswise arranged webs 34, 36, on which the screen 14 is supported. The webs 36 are chamfered in the region of the grip shell 20 in such a way that they support the sloping wall 28 of the grip shell. A rib 38 formed on the handle part 18 lies against the inner surface of the web 22, so that the panel 14 and the back part 16 are held together stably in the region of the handle shell 20. The sloping wall 28 of the grip shell is designed in a cutting shape at its lower end, so that a smooth transition to the wall portion 24 results.

The back part 16 is provided at the crossing points of the webs 34, 36 and in the region of thickenings 40 of the webs 36 with screw channels 42 or openings 44, which enable the front piece 12 to be fastened to a drawer (not shown).
