Definitions

  • the present invention relates to roofing systems used for sealing and insulating roofs, in particular but not exclusively in ribbed steel sheets, and it aims at improvements to those of these systems using insulating polystyrene panels. expanded.
  • the insulation and sealing system described in this patent consists in first fixing on the support to be protected common expanded polystyrene sheets by means of a cold glue, then to be applied to these sheets, also cold. , a first sealing layer self-adhesive, and finally to heat cover this first layer with a second self-protected sealing layer.
  • the expanded polystyrene sheets used in this system are simple commercial panels, without surfacing, of expanded polystyrene with a density between about 16 and 25 kg / m3, which can be bonded cold directly to the support, without risk of degradation of the appropriate waterproof layers applied on top.
  • the first sealing layer of this system is also applied cold, thanks to the use of self-adhesive sheets comprising a reinforcement, for example of organic fibers such as non-woven polyester fibers, which allows them to s' adapt without constraints to the movements of the support.
  • a reinforcement for example of organic fibers such as non-woven polyester fibers
  • the second sealing layer is then applied by heat welding to the first, this mode of application improving at the same time the adhesion of the first layer by thermal reduction of the viscosity of its self-adhesive mass and correlative increase in its adhesiveness.
  • This second sealing layer is produced by means of bitumen-based sealing sheets, comprising a reinforcement and self-protected by mineral granules.
  • Such a system is particularly suitable for industrial roofs made of ribbed sheet steel, which have long posed the most acute problems, but it is equally suitable for very different substrates, for example masonry, aerated concrete, ligno- cellulosic, wooden, aluminum sheet and it can even be applied on old waterproofing coatings to renovate.
  • this first sealing layer may not be done immediately during its application, due in particular to unfavorable atmospheric conditions, or for any other reason. It follows that the first sealing layer may not be completely waterproof, in particular at the junctions of the sheets, which is detrimental to the quality of protection of the system.
  • This improvement consists in using, in order to constitute the first sealing layer, self-adhesive sealing sheets having at the edge, unilaterally a heat-weldable space, so that the covering edge of each sheet is constituted of two parts, one of which, set back from the edge, is self-adhesive when cold and the other, at the edge, is heat sealable.
  • the advantage inherent in this improvement resides in the fact that the self-adhesive part of the covering edge provides sufficient sealing of the first sealing layer as well as effective temporary protection of the polystyrene against the flame. or hot air necessary for the welding of the other part, until the hot welding of the heat-weldable part which guarantees the perfect sealing of the system.
  • this sealing system however requires the successive application, on the support to be protected, of expanded polystyrene plates fixed on the support by means of a cold glue, of a first self-sealing layer. - heat-sealable adhesive at the edge and a second sealing layer welded with a torch.
  • the present invention aims to propose a system sealing which implements a single sealing layer instead of two successive sealing layers.
  • the present invention thus relates to a sealing system which consists in successively applying to the support to be protected expanded polystyrene plates fixed on the support by means of a cold glue, then a self-adhesive heat-sealable sealing sheet border and self-protected on its upper face.
  • the present invention also relates to the sealing sheets used to produce the sealing system which constitutes its first object.
  • the heat-sealable braid located at the edge of the sealing sheets according to the invention forms part of the covering selvedge, the other part of which is self-adhesive.
  • this heat-sealable braid can be covered with a film of a hot-melt synthetic material such as polypropylene or polyethylene.
  • the sealing sheet according to the invention may comprise at its upper face, on its non-self-protected edge, and over a width equal to that of the heat-sealable strip, a detachable protective strip intended at be, during installation, facing the heat-sealable braid of the adjacent sheet, so as to prevent spontaneous bonding of said heat-sealable braid before its implementation.
  • Such an embodiment is particularly advantageous in the case where the installation of the sealing sheets according to the invention must be carried out under climatic conditions which make this risk run.
  • the removable protective tape can be made of silicone paper or silicone polypropylene. It is held in place on the sheet until the heat sealing operation of the heat-sealable strip.
  • the sealing sheets according to the invention are preferably made of a material based on oxidized bitumen or on bitumen modified by polymers, reinforced by a reinforcement of organic fibers such as nonwoven polyester fibers.
  • the self-protection of the sealing sheets according to the invention can be carried out using mineral granules or a metallic or synthetic film.
  • the heat-sealable strip formed at the edge of the sealing sheets according to the invention preferably has a width of 4 to 6 cm, approximately equal to half the width of the overlapping selvedge, which is generally 8 to 12 cm wide.
  • the sealing system produced by means of the sealing sheets according to the invention exhibits excellent qualities of insulation and sealing and this by using only one sealing layer. It therefore allows significant savings in resources, both in terms of equipment and in terms of labor.
  • the sealing sheet 4 has on its upper face a self-protection 6 consisting of mineral granules.
  • This self-protection is interrupted at the end 8 of the sheet over a width (l) equal to that of the covering edge of the sheet 4.
  • the sheet 4 has on its underside an adhesive underside 5 extended to the 'other end of the sheet by a heat-sealable strip 7 covered with a hot-melt film 7 ′, so that its covering edge comprises a self-adhesive part 5 ′ and a heat-sealable part constituted by the heat-sealable strip 7 covered with the hot-melt film 7 ′.
