Description

The invention relates to an overflow pipe according to the preamble of independent claim 1.

An overflow pipe with two telescopically adjustable, mutually sealed pipe parts is known. The length of this overflow pipe can be adjusted to suit different operations. In order to seal the two pipe parts against each other and to fix them axially, a nut is screwed onto the insertion end of the outer pipe, which presses an elastic sealing ring with a wedge-shaped cross section between the pipe parts. In the event of strong axial pull or pressure on the overflow pipe during valve actuation, the axial fixation is often not sufficiently large so that the length of the overflow pipe is adjusted. The operation and function of the drain valve is then no longer optimal.

The invention has for its object to provide an overflow pipe of the type mentioned, which ensures a much better axial fixation of the pipe parts and which is easy to assemble and yet can be produced inexpensively and is tight.

In the overflow pipe according to the invention, the pipe parts are positively fixed in the axial direction. With all types of actuation and even after long use, it is ensured that the length of the overflow pipe does not change. The overflow pipe only consists of three individual parts that can be manufactured and assembled inexpensively. Further advantageous developments result from the dependent claims.

Fig. 1
einen Teillängsschnitt durch ein erfindungsgemässes Ueberlaufrohr,
Fig. 2
Fig. 3

An embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
Fig. 1
a partial longitudinal section through an overflow pipe according to the invention,
Fig. 2
a longitudinal section through the upper end of an outer tubular part, and
Fig. 3
a cross section through the outer tube section along the line III-III.

The overflow pipe has an outer pipe part 1 with a valve plate 2 and an inner pipe part 3 with an eyelet 4 for fastening a cistern actuation, not shown here. The actuation can be pneumatic, electrical or purely mechanical and in each case causes the overflow pipe to be raised, which works together with a float valve, not shown here.

The inner tube part 3 has one or more recess parts 6 in the lateral surface 5, which extend essentially over the entire length of the tube part 3 and of which only one is shown here. The recess parts 6 are of exactly the same design and can be converted into one another by an axial rotation of the tube part 3 by 180 °. The recess parts 6 are connected to one another via an annular recess part 7 at the lower end of the tubular part 3. In the recess part 7 there is an annular groove 8, into which a lip ring 9 is inserted, which seals the two pipe parts 1 and 3 against each other in a watertight manner.

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, one or more opposite projections 11 are attached to the inside 10 of the tubular part 1, each of which engages in a recess part 6. If the projections 11 are each in a longitudinal groove 12 of the recess parts 6, the two tube parts 1 and 3 can be telescopically extended to approximately twice the length shown in FIG. 1.

To axially fix the pipe parts 1 and 3, they are rotated radially with respect to one another, each projection 11 being introduced into a transverse groove 13. The depth of the recess parts 6 and 7 and the transverse grooves 13 is the same everywhere and is about 1 mm. The pipe part 3 is guided essentially without radial play in the pipe part 1, so that the two pipe parts 1 and 3 are always exactly coaxially aligned with one another.

The projections 11 inserted into the transverse grooves 13 fix the two pipe parts 1 and 3 in a form-fitting manner in the axial direction. Due to the friction of the lip ring 9, the two pipe parts 1 and 3 are also fixed to the extent that they cannot be unintentionally released by radial twisting. This fixation is reinforced by a catch of the projections 11 in the transverse grooves 13, which are narrowed in some areas as shown in FIG. 1.

The recess part 7 serves to introduce the projections 11 into the recess parts 6 when the tube parts 1 and 3 are plugged together. In this embodiment, the axial adjustment is given by the distances between the transverse grooves 13. Twice as fine adjustment is possible if only one projection 11 is provided and the recess parts 6 are offset in the longitudinal direction by half the distance between adjacent transverse grooves 13.
