Description

The present invention relates to a bogie chassis comprising two side members connected by at least one cross member, the bogie being able to be motor or carrier.

In a known manner, the bogie frames produced by molding are produced in a single operation, so that the frame is in one piece. Such manufacture requires the use of foundry models, treatment ovens and machining machines, of large dimensions, therefore expensive.

In a manner also known, the bogie frames are manufactured by mechanical welding from steel sheets. The two beams are made in this way and the cross member (s) can either be made in this way, or consist of tubes. We assemble everything by welding to form a one-piece finished chassis. The use of welding to connect the side members and the crosspieces therefore requires, for the entire chassis, the use of a single weldable material, generally steel.

The present invention aims to make the chassis modular to facilitate maintenance operations and allow a certain scalability of the chassis design. This object is achieved by the use of mechanical connections, this making it possible to produce components independently such as a spar or a cross member, and then to assemble them by bolting. Two adjacent components can thus be produced in two different materials, incompatible from the welding point of view.

The production of each component can be done by molding or by mechanical welding. The production by molding allows the use of foundry models, treatment ovens and machining machines, of small dimensions, and allows the use of a material, a light alloy for example, deemed non-weldable therefore not usable in the case of mechanical welding.

The subject of the present invention is a bogie frame comprising two longitudinal members connected by at least one cross member, characterized in that the cross member (s) as well as the longitudinal members have connecting surfaces ensuring, by assembly and bolting, fixed mechanical connections between the side members and the cross member (s).
A motor bogie frame has a cross member and a carrier bogie frame has two cross members.

The bogie frame may include one or two secondary beams which support part of the torsional force due to braking as well as the forces due to body stops and anti-roll bars, in order to relieve the main beams.

There are described below, by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings, two embodiments of the bogie chassis according to the invention, the first mode representing a motor bogie chassis and the second mode representing a bogie chassis carrier.

In FIG. 2, representing a support frame, this frame comprises two longitudinal members 10, 20 and two crosspieces 30, 40. This chassis may further comprise a central secondary spar, or as shown, two lateral secondary spars 50, 60, the secondary beam 50 being adjacent to the main beam 10 and the secondary beam 60 being adjacent to the main beam 20.
