Description

Beschreibung:Description:

The invention relates to a sealing strip for a ridge or ridge cover with a central strip intended for resting on a ridge or ridge plank and allowing air to pass through and with adjacent side strips which can be adapted at least with their outer longitudinal edges to the top of roof covering panels.

Sealing strips of this type are typically covered by the cover caps forming the upper end of the ridge or ridge and, in order to achieve a good seal against rain and flying snow, must fit snugly against the top of the edges of the roof covering plates facing the ridge or ridge.

Such a sealing strip, which can also be used universally with a wide variety of roof covering panels and with a wide variety of roof pitches and which enables both sealing against rain and flying snow and ventilation of the roof space, is known from EP-PS 0 117 391. This sealing strip has a flexible support which is provided with a special edge part on one or both longitudinal edges. The edge part is comb-shaped and consists of elastic material, and the teeth of the edge part are connected to one another by an edge strip bridging the tooth gaps and made of flexible material. The edge strip covering the tooth gaps can consist of an air-permeable non-woven material, which contributes to the ventilation of the roof space. Ventilation is also made possible if the carrier strip has ventilation openings in its part located to the side of the ridge or ridge plank and is provided with upstanding supports for the cover caps. Thanks to the special Formation of the edge part is an excellent adaptation to the various surfaces of roofing panels. On the other hand, the production of such a sealing strip is complex.

In contrast, the object of the present invention is to provide a roll-up sealing strip for a ridge or ridge cover, which is simple in construction and inexpensive to produce, which ensures roof ventilation, which can be done by hand or with the simplest means, even on more profiled roofing panels of various types and optically is appealingly adaptable and which permanently maintains the shape adopted with the adaptation even under changing weather conditions.

This object is achieved in that the median strip has an air-permeable, water-repellent and snow-resistant fleece, and the side strips each consist of soft, stretchable polyisobutylene film strips, in which an expanded metal mesh is embedded, which has an extensibility in the longitudinal direction of 50 to 150% and has an extensibility ≦ 20% and a resilience ≦ 5% in the transverse direction.

It is known to use plastically deformable covering material for covering or covering cracks, joints, gaps, openings, transitions and the like at water-bearing points on buildings, roofs and their parts (DE-OS 36 42 063). This sheet, sheet or strip-shaped cover material, which can be deformed by hand even at low temperatures, consists of a polyisobutylene substrate in which an expanded metal grid is embedded, which has an extensibility of 50 to 150% in the longitudinal direction, an extensibility ≦ 20% in the transverse direction and that resilience vermögen 5%. Such a cover material has not previously been used in conjunction with a ridge or ridge cover. There are also no precautions for roof ventilation.

Advantageous refinements and developments of the sealing strip according to the invention result from the subclaims.

Although it is sufficient to provide the expanded metal mesh only in the two side strips and to form the central strip only from the fleece, it is provided according to a preferred embodiment that the expanded metal mesh also bridges the central strip and is formed in one piece, which results in an even greater security when fastening the sealing strip can be achieved on a ridge or ridge plank.

A permanent connection between the fleece of the central strip and the polyisobutylene film strips of the side strips can be achieved in a simple manner if the fleece is glued overlapping on its longitudinal edges to the respective inner longitudinal edge of the polyisobutylene film strip of a side strip.

According to a further advantageous embodiment, the side strips are provided on their free longitudinal edges on the underside which is to be placed on the roof covering panels with a self-adhesive layer covered by a removable protective film. Various known rubber or plastic materials, such as soft butyl rubber, come into consideration as self-adhesive layers. This additional adhesive layer, which can be provided in the form of a tape or strip, provides an additional seal in this area after the protective film has been removed and the side strips pressed against the top of the roofing panels.

The fleece preferably consists of weather-resistant synthetic fibers and has an air permeability of at least 1 m³.s⁻¹.m⁻² in order to ensure good ventilation of the roof interior via the ridge or ridge.

A nonwoven made of polypropylene fibers with a basis weight of 20 to 200 g / m², in particular 60 g / m², is particularly suitable. Such a fleece is weather and alkali resistant and has sufficient resistance to attach the sealing strip over the median strip to the ridge or ridge plank.

The expanded metal grid primarily serves as a reinforcement element for side strips and ensures their plastic deformability. The high extensibility in the longitudinal direction of the side strips also allows a good adaptation to roofing slabs with complex three-dimensional shapes. The comparatively low extensibility in the transverse direction ensures that clean and largely straight longitudinal edges are also produced. Rustproof metals, in particular aluminum and lead, are suitable as the material for the expanded metal grid. An expanded metal grid is particularly advantageous, which consists of aluminum which is soft per se and additionally annealed after stretching. Such an expanded metal grid has practically no restoring forces. Depending on the desired extensibility, the expanded metal mesh can have a material thickness and a web width of 0.3 to 1.5 mm, a mesh length of 4 to 20 mm and a mesh width of 2 to 15 mm. This expanded metal mesh preferably has a tensile strength in the longitudinal direction of 10 to 80 N / cm and a tensile strength in the transverse direction richtung 100 N / cm.

For the side strips, a non-adhesive polyisobutylene film material is preferably provided in the temperature range relevant to the application, which can contain the usual additives such as antioxidants, UV absorbers, color pigments, inorganic fillers and the like. The polyisobutylene film material preferably has a tensile strength ≦ 10 N / mm and an extensibility ≧ 50%. With such mechanical values, breaking or tearing of the film material is avoided even when it is kinked.

100 Gew.-Teile
Polyisobutylen mit einem mittleren Molekulargewicht von 1,3 x 10⁶;
50 bis 80 Gew.-Teile
Polyisobutylen mit einem mittleren Molekulargewicht von etwa 0,4 x 10⁶;
1 bis 2 Gew.-Teile
nichtfärbende Antioxidantien;
1 bis 4 Gew.-Teile
nichtfärbender UV-Absorber;
20 bis 60 Gew.-Teile
farbgebende Pigmente; und
100 bis 130 Gew.-Teile
ungecoatete, amorphe Kreide.
For example, the polyisobutylene film material can consist of a mixture of the following substances, namely:
100 parts by weight
Polyisobutylene with an average molecular weight of 1.3 x 10⁶;
50 to 80 parts by weight
Polyisobutylene with an average molecular weight of about 0.4 x 10⁶;
1 to 2 parts by weight
non-coloring antioxidants;
1 to 4 parts by weight
non-coloring UV absorber;
20 to 60 parts by weight
coloring pigments; and
100 to 130 parts by weight
uncoated, amorphous chalk.

A width of approximately 200 to 300 mm can preferably be provided for the sealing strip. Depending on the width of the cover caps used on the ridge or ridge, in particular sealing strips with a width of 230 and 275 mm have proven their worth. A width of about 60 to 90 mm, in particular 75 mm, is provided for each of the side strips. The expanded metal mesh is embedded in the polyisobutylene film material essentially over the entire width of the side strips. The layer thickness of the side strips is approximately 1.5 to 2.5 mm; For example, the expanded metal grid can be laminated between two approximately 0.7 mm thick polyisobutylene film strips, so that the film strips are connected to one another through the mesh of the expanded metal grid.

Such sealing strips are preferably made in a length of about 10 m and delivered in the form of rolls. In order to prevent adjacent polyisobutylene film material from adhering too strongly to one another during storage and transport, each side strip can be covered on one side with a removable protective layer. Corresponding roles have a maximum weight of about 5 kg, are easy to store and transport and easy to handle even under difficult conditions on the sloping roof and attach. The rolls are rolled out over the ridge or ridge plank and fastened thereon with nails or the like. This provides an optimal, handcraft-friendly solution for sealing the ridge or ridge area on the sloping roof.

As can be seen in particular from FIGS. 1 and 2, the sealing strip 10 according to the invention consists of a central strip 11 and the two side strips 20 and 30. The central strip 11 has a fleece 12 made of water-repellent impregnated polypropylene fibers. In the embodiment shown, an expanded metal grid 25, 35 is provided, which also bridges the central strip 11 and which is laminated in the area of the side strips 20 and 30 in each case between two polyisobutylene film strips 22 and 24 or 32 and 34. The fleece 12 is glued to its two longitudinal edges 13 and 14 overlapping with the inner longitudinal edge of the polyisobutylene film strip 22 and 32, respectively. The ones coming to rest on the roofing slabs Polyisobutylene film strips 24 and 34 have on their free longitudinal edges a self-adhesive layer 29 and 39 in the form of a tape.

In Fig. 3, the attachment of the weather strip 10 according to the invention on the ridge of a roof is shown schematically, which is covered with flat roofing panels 2. The sealing strip 10 is delivered in the form of a roll and rolled out and fastened on the ridge screed 1. Then the side strips 20 and 30 provided with the self-adhesive layer 29, 39 are molded onto the top of the ridge-side roofing panels 2.

Nach der Anformung des Dichtungsstreifens 10 werden, wie angedeutet, die den Abschluß des Grates bildenden Abdeckkappen 4 aufgesetzt.FIG. 4 shows the sealing strip 10 according to the invention after it has been attached to the ridge of a roof which is covered with profiled roofing panels 2 '. As shown, the central strip 11 lies with its central part on the top of the ridge beam 1 '. This part is fixed at intervals by fasteners, such as nails 3, on the burr. Lateral sections adjoin the central part of the central strip 11, through whose air-permeable fleece 12 the interior of the roof can be ventilated and ventilated, as indicated by arrows. The side strips 20 'and 30 are molded onto the top of the roofing panels 2'. After the sealing strip 10 has been molded on, the cover caps 4 forming the end of the burr are placed, as indicated.

In the case of a fully covered roof, as is shown in FIG. 5 for a roof covering, the sealing strips 10 are covered continuously by overlapping covering caps 4, so that only the eaves-side part of the side strips 20 and 30 of the sealing strips between the longitudinal edges 5 of the covering caps and the underlying profiled roofing panels 2 'is visible from the outside.
