Abstract

In a multi-ply headbox of a papermaking machine, a flexible partition foil or sheet is connected by an apparatus to a rigid partition element dividing the nozzle chamber. For rapid replacement of the flexible partition foil or sheet, the apparatus comprises an upper retaining strip and a lower retaining strip which are structured for force-locking or form-closed or form-locking clamping of the flexible partition foil or sheet therebetween and secured at the rigid partition element. Between the upper and lower retaining strips there is provided a pressure chamber of a pressure device, which pressure chamber can be impinged by a pressurized fluid medium for spreading or expanding, if necessary, the upper and the lower retaining strips. The pressure chamber possesses the shape of a continuous groove extending across the entire outlet width of the headbox. This groove is lined with an elastic sealing coating or lining and the space bounded by such elastic sealing coating is connected via lines or conduits to a pressurized fluid medium source.

Description

The invention relates to a device for holding a separating lamella on the multi-layer headbox of a paper machine, which separating lamella is fastened to a separating element which divides a nozzle space of the headbox and is used for further keeping the layers of material separate over a distance in the running direction of the paper machine, the device having an upper and a has lower retaining strip which are designed for clamping or enclosing a part of the separating lamella between them.

The separating lamella is made of a flexible material and is mounted on the separating element at its point pointing in the outlet direction at a connection point by means of a device. A relatively cumbersome and time-consuming assembly is necessary to attach or remove the separating lamella. This is necessary when changing the separating lamella with changing demands on the length of the separating lamella, viewed in the outlet direction, to adapt to various work tasks of the paper machine or after wear of the separating lamella during maintenance. A known arrangement of the separating lamella is e.g. shown in DE-PS 32 27 218.

In a further embodiment according to GB-A-2 187 485, a headbox is described which has a partition to enable the multilayer. However, this partition is rigidly connected to the side walls of the headbox. In a special embodiment, a bayonet lock that can be braced by an elastically deformable pressure chamber is used to connect these parts. However, this version is complex to build and operate and only allows an angular position. Constant pressure in said pressure chamber is required during headbox operation.

The aim of the invention is to enable a quick change of the separating lamella without a complicated and time-consuming assembly.

To achieve this object, the two retaining strips are fastened to the separating element on the device according to the invention, a pressure chamber of a pressure device which can be acted upon by a pressure medium being provided between the retaining strips, as a result of which the retaining strips can be expanded relative to one another. By applying a pressure in the pressure chamber Pressure device gap the holding strips apart and leave a space between them that is necessary for attaching or detaching the separating lamella between the holding strips. After the pressure in the pressure chamber has been reduced, the retaining strips come into contact with one another, as a result of which the separating lamella used is held in place in front of the nozzle gap of the headbox.

In den Unteransprüchen sind vorteilhafte Ausführungsbeispiele angegeben.Advantageous exemplary embodiments are specified in the subclaims.

The device 1 for holding a separating lamella 2 belongs to a multi-layer headbox of a paper machine which e.g. is intended for the production of multilayer tissue papers. Here a two-layer headbox is shown schematically simplified.

The separating lamella 2 is fastened to a separating element 4 which divides a nozzle chamber 3 of the headbox in a known manner and projects outwards through a nozzle gap 5 between an upper lip 31 and a lower lip 32. The separating lamella 2 can serve to further separate the two layers of material in this case after leaving the divided nozzle space 3 over a distance in the running direction of the paper machine.

Such an embodiment is shown here, the separating lamella 2 being shown shortened in the machine direction. The actual length of the line or the separating lamella 2 is adapted to the respective operating conditions of the paper machine or properties of the layers of material.

The device 1 has an upper holding strip 6 and a lower holding strip 7, which are fastened to the separating element 4 via a connection point 14 without a height difference between the fabric-side surfaces of the separating element 4 and the holding strips 6 and 7. For this purpose, a dovetail connection is provided at the connection point 14. The attachment has mutually arranged screws 15 which join and press the retaining strips together and thereby give them pretension. Instead of the screws 15, rivets can also be used.

The holding strips 6 and 7 run continuously over the entire width of the separating element 4 and are designed to hold the separating lamella 2 between them. For this purpose, grooves 21 are also provided, which are designed on the surfaces of the holding strips 6 and 7 facing the separating lamella. A tunnel-like space is thus formed, in which a fastening edge 22 of the separating lamella 2 can be enclosed.

Provided between the surfaces of the holding strips 6 and 7 facing the separating lamella 2 is a pressure chamber 8 of a pressure device which can be acted upon by a pressure medium and which serves to spread the holding strips 6 and 7 relative to one another. When applying a pressure in the pressure chamber 8, the holding strips 6 and 7 are spread so far that the separating lamella 2 can be removed or used. This is particularly shown in Fig. 2.

The pressure chamber 8 has the shape of a groove between the holding strips 6 and 7 or in them, which is lined with a sealing lining 9. These Lining 9 is made of an elastic, impervious film.

The space of the pressure chamber 8 enveloped by the lining 9 is connected to a pressure medium source, not shown, via lines 10 and 11 for the pressurizing medium which are designed as bores between the holding strips 6 and 7 or in the separating element 4. The relevant connections are advantageously located on both sides of the separating element 4. It is also possible to flush the system from one side if necessary.

As mentioned above, the holding strips 6 and 7 are pressed together by means of the screws 15 for pretensioning. When the retaining strips 6 and 7 are pressed together, the retaining strips in the region of the screws 15 undergo elastic deformation.

The holding strips 6 and 7 are mirror images of one another. According to one embodiment, which is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the holding strips 6 and 7 end with a tip in the outlet direction of the fabric, so that at the point where the ends of the holding strips 6 and 7 lie against the separating lamella 2 come, there are no vortices in the material flow.

According to another embodiment, which is shown particularly in FIG. 5, the holding strips 6 and 7 end bluntly with an edge 13 which is transverse to the outlet direction, so that at the point where the ends of the holding strips 6 and 7 lie against the separating lamella 2 come, a vortex forming stage is formed. This may be desirable in certain operating situations.

It is also possible, however, if, in this embodiment according to FIG. 5, optionally formation of eddies at the ends 13 of the holding strips 6 and 7 is to be avoided, to use a separating lamella, which is shown in FIG. 4. This separating lamella 2 is on the end facing the holding strips 6 and 7 is provided with a wedge-shaped fitting part 23, seen in the vertical longitudinal section. At its highest point, this fitting part 23 is exactly as high as the ends of the holding strips 6 and 7 that have the edge 13. When this separating lamella is clamped in, there is therefore no swirl-forming step between the fitting part 23 and the holding strips 6 and 7.

The scope of protection also applies to applications in which a multi-layer headbox is designed for more than two layers of material, as well as those in which the headbox in the room does not point horizontally, but vertically or at an angle.
