Abstract

A ski brake (1) has two wire brake arms (7) pivotally mounted on a base plate (2), the terminal sections (7d) of the said arms being connected through a spring (8). The brake (1) is maintained in the operating position by an actuating pedal (5) arranged on the upper side of the ski, which is depressed against the force of at least one lifting spring (6). The free ends (7a) of the wire brake arms (7) pivot in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the ski (10). To improve the transmission of force from the base plate (2) to the wire brake arms (7) when the actuating pedal (5) is depressed, an intermediate element (a) consisting of a cylindrical sleeve (9a) connected to a projection (9b) is mounted in a hinged manner on the terminal sections (7d). In the operating position, the projection (9b) presses against a supporting surface (2f) of the base plate (2).

Description

The invention relates to a ski brake according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a ski brake is described in DE-Al-31 36 079. In this ski brake, a displacement body is arranged in the base plate, which causes the connecting spring to bend when the actuation pedal is depressed and thus causes the free ends of the two wire brake mandrels to pivot in against the vertical longitudinal center plane of the ski brake. This ski brake has the disadvantage that the force required for pivoting engages in the middle of the spring connecting the two wire brake mandrels, which is therefore subjected to great stress, especially since the angled ends of the wire brake mandrels inserted in the spring are at a distance from the center of the spring are located.

In another not previously published ski brake (AT-A-384.554), the proposal was therefore made to provide the connecting spring in its central region with a U-shaped bend in plan view, the transverse web of which is guided in or on a guideway of the base plate. However, this means that the dimensioning of the U-shaped bend is bound to the dimensions and the material of the connecting spring.

Finally, EP-Al-45 698 describes a ski brake in which the connecting spring between the angled and mutually directed end sections of the wire brake mandrels is designed as a leaf spring which is firmly connected to an actuating pedal. However, this configuration has the result that the leaf spring is not only subjected to bending but also to torsion when the ski brake is depressed and swung up. This will be the setting up of the two wire brake arms brought about by a pull rod which is articulated at one end on the pedal and is provided at its other end with a piston. This piston is guided in a cylindrical housing and acted on by a compression spring. In the standby position, the leaf spring, which is bent in the braking position, is pivoted through an angle, which results in the leaf spring bending back and inward rotation of the ends of the wire brake arms carrying the brake blades.

For the sake of completeness, reference is also made to FR-A-2,516,392, from which a ski brake with a spring connecting the wire brake arms is known. With this ski brake, however, the actuation pedal is not mounted directly on the base plate, but with the interposition of a lever arm.

The invention has for its object to eliminate the disadvantages of the known designs and to provide a ski brake in which the contact surfaces of the force pivoting in the wire brake arms also lie in the region of the angled ends of the wire brake arms, so that the connecting spring is exposed to less bending stress due to direct force application is. Furthermore, the designer should be given a greater opportunity with regard to the choice of materials.

Starting from a ski brake of the type outlined at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention by the features of claim 1. Characterized in that the cylindrical sleeve of the intermediate member extends over the angled ends of the wire brake arms, the power flow coming from the extension is directed into these ends, which relieves the connecting spring.

As such, it would be conceivable to provide the sleeve with a recess in the central area. In practice, however, the embodiment according to claim 2 has proven to be particularly advantageous, especially since this embodiment increases the contact surfaces of the intermediate member.

The measure of claim 3 ensures that the free ends of the wire brake arms are pivoted into the wide-open position with reduced friction.

The subject of claim 4 ensures constant guidance of the intermediate member on the base plate. In addition, the power flow from the base plate into the wire brake arms is improved.

The subject of claim 5 limits the range of motion of the free end of the extension, which is determined on one side by the guide surface, on the other side.

The measure of claim 6 enables a reliable anchoring of the ends of the two leg springs in the extension of the intermediate member. Furthermore, the two leg springs can be dimensioned longer because their ends lie next to each other.

Due to the feature of claim 7, material can be saved in the manufacture of the intermediate member.

The advantages cited to claim 4 are also inherent in the subject matter of claim 8.

The design of the extension according to the features of claim 9 enables the designer to determine the timing of the retracting movement of the two brake arms.

Claim 10 includes a measure by which an advantageous embodiment of the intermediate member in connection with separate support surfaces and guide surfaces is brought about.

The embodiment according to claim 11 is characterized in that the extension of the intermediate member is guided under positive locking.

The ends of the leg springs can be supported directly on the base plate and thus be independent of the extension. This also makes it possible to use a single spring, which is also easy to assemble.

It would be conceivable to connect the free ends of the two legs of the extension of the intermediate member by means of a bolt which passes through a recess in the rib. However, this would involve additional assembly. This disadvantage is avoided by the features of claim 12.

Finally, the subject matter of claim 13 is characterized by a particularly simple construction, the designer having a greater scope for determining the distance between the guide surface and the support surface.

At the base 2a are upwardly projecting strip-shaped side parts 2b which run in the longitudinal direction of the ski brake 1. In the bores of the two side parts 2b, a transverse axis 4 is fastened, on which, on the one hand, an actuating pedal 5 and, on the other hand, two raising springs designed as leg springs 6 are mounted. The operating pedal 5 has a stop 5a and two bent tabs 5b.

At a distance from the transverse axis 4, funnel-shaped transverse bores 2c are recessed in the two side parts 2b of the base plate 2, in which two wire brake arms 7 with their transverse sections 7b are pivotably mounted. Each wire brake arm 7 has a section located outside of the base plate 2, which may have a plastic encapsulation serving as a brake paddle (not shown in the drawing) and is referred to below as the brake mandrel 7a, the section 7b already mentioned, a section 7c adjoining this, runs approximately parallel to section 7a, and an end section 7d connected to section 7c at an obtuse angle. The end sections 7d of the two wire brake arms 7 are directed towards one another and connected to one another by a connecting spring 8. The end sections 7d of the wire brake arms 7 are mounted in the actuating pedal 5 in a known and therefore not described manner.

Fig.7). On the connecting spring 8, which is designed as a helical spring, an intermediate member 9 is placed, which has a cylindrical sleeve 9a running transversely to the longitudinal axis with an elongated extension 9b adjoining this. The extension 9b extends approximately radially to the cylindrical sleeve 9a. This extension 9b is designed like a frame, angled ends 6a of the two leg springs 6 being suspended in the frame, the other ends of which are supported on the underside of the actuation pedal 5. The sleeve 9a of the intermediate member 9 has a coaxial bore which is elongated towards the two sides of the ski brake 1 and which also receives the end sections 7d of the wire brake arms 7 (see FIG. 7). This favors a swiveling apart of the end sections 7d of the two wire brake arms 7 with reduced friction and prevents them from jamming.

In the braking position of the ski brake 1 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the extension 9b of the intermediate member 9 is at a distance from the top of the ski 10. The intermediate member 9 is held in one position by the angled ends 6a of the two leg springs 6, in which the sleeve 9a abuts the stop 5a of the actuating pedal 5.

If pressure is exerted on the actuation pedal 5 by a ski boot (not shown) and the latter is thereby pivoted down, the end of the extension 9b comes to rest on the top of the ski 10 and on the base plate 2. This position of the intermediate link 9 is shown in FIG and 4 reproduced. Before this position is reached, the end of the extension 9b optionally slides along a guide surface 2e of the base plate 2. The sleeve 9a of the intermediate member 9 has moved somewhat away from the stop 5a of the actuating pedal 5.

If the pressure exerted on the operating pedal 5 is increased, the free end of the operating pedal 5 is pressed further against the top of the ski (see FIGS. 5 and 6). The intermediate member 9 is supported in the end position (ie in the ready position of the ski brake 1) with its extension 9b against the force of the connecting spring 8 as a Support area 2f acting area of the guide surface 2e. In this position, the end sections 7d of the two wire brake arms 7 are furthest away from the transverse axis 4, and the two sections 7a are pivoted in against the vertical longitudinal center plane of the ski brake 1. The displacement of the end sections 7d in the longitudinal direction of the actuation pedal 5 is brought about essentially according to the toggle lever principle.

The following must be observed with regard to the swiveling-up movement of the two brake mandrels 7a:
In the braking position of the ski brake 1, the free ends of the two brake mandrels 7a of the wire brake arms 7 have a distance a 1. In the partially pivoted down position of the ski brake 1 (see Fig. 3,4), this distance increases to a₂, as a result of which the free ends of the brake pins 7a are at a greater distance from the two side surfaces of the ski 10. This enables the two brake mandrels 7a of the wire brake arms 7 to pass the two side surfaces of the ski more easily and without the risk of getting caught.

In dem quer verlaufenden Abschnitt 9'c des Fortsatzes 9'b sind Nuten 9'd ausgespart, welche zur Aufnahme der hakenförmig abgebogenen Enden der beiden Schenkelfedern dienen, die zum Aufstellen des Betätigungspedals bestimmt sind.7 and 8 show a variant for the configuration of the intermediate member 9 ', the extension 9'b of which is T-shaped in plan view. In the transverse section 9'c of the extension 9'b, grooves 9'd are recessed, which serve to receive the hook-shaped bent ends of the two leg springs, which are intended for setting up the actuation pedal.

Otherwise, the configuration of this embodiment corresponds to that of the embodiment described first. The function is also the same in both cases.

The embodiment of a ski brake 1 ″ shown in FIGS. 9-14 is similar to that described first. It also has a base plate 2 '' with a base 2 "a, which is attached to a ski 10" by means of screws 3 ". Attached to the base 2''a are side parts 2''b which project upwards and extend in the longitudinal direction of the ski brake 1 ''. A transverse axis 4 ″ is fastened in these side parts 2 ″ b, on which an actuation pedal 5 ″ and two set-up springs for the actuation pedal 5 ″ designed as leg springs 6 ″ are mounted. The actuating pedal 5 '' has a stop 5''a and two bent tabs 5''b.

At a distance from the transverse axis 4 ″, funnel-shaped cross bores 2 ″ c are recessed in the two side parts 2 ″ b of the base plate 2 ″, in which two wire brake arms 7 ″ are pivotably mounted with their transverse sections 7 ″ b. The wire brake arms 7 ″ are identical to those shown and designed in FIGS. 1 to 6.

An intermediate member 9 ″ is placed on the connecting spring 8 ″, which has a cylindrical sleeve 9 ″ a that runs transversely to the longitudinal axis and has an elongate extension 9 ″ b that adjoins it approximately radially. The extension 9''b is divided into a first section 9''g facing the sleeve 9''a and an adjoining second section 9''h, the second section 9''h being opposite the first section 9''g runs angled. The extension 9''b is frame-like in its central width region 9''e, the angled ends 6''a of the two leg springs 6 '' being suspended in the frame, the other ends of which are located on the underside of the actuating pedal 5 '' support. The intermediate member 9 ″ has a coaxial bore in its sleeve 9 ″ a, which is elongated towards the sides of the ski brake 1 ″ and also receives the end sections 7 ″ of the wire brake arms 7.

In contrast to the previously described embodiments, in the ski brake 1 ″ cams 9 ″ f are formed on both sides of the first section 9 ″ g of the extension 9 ″ b. Furthermore, the base plate 2 ″ has two support surfaces 2 ″ f, which are provided on protrusions of the base plate 2 ″ and are intended for bearing the cams 9 ″ f. As a result, in the ski brake 1 ″, the support surfaces 2 ″ f of the base plate 2 ″ are based on the Transverse axis 4 "of the actuating pedal 5", offset in the direction of the connecting spring 8 ". With this arrangement, the designer can more easily determine the structural measures that are necessary for pulling the free ends of the wire brake arms 7 ″ into the ready position.

In the braking position of the ski brake 1 ″ shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, the intermediate member 9 ″ is held in a position by the angled ends 6 ″ a of the two leg springs 6 ″, in which the sleeve 9 ″ a the stop 5''a of the actuating pedal 5 ''.

If pressure is exerted on the actuation pedal 5 ″ by a ski boot (not shown) and the latter is pivoted down as a result, the second section 9 ″ h of the extension 9 ″ b and the two cams 9 ″ f come to rest on the top of the ski. At the same time, the cams 9''f rest on the two support surfaces 2''f. This position of the intermediate member 9 ″ is shown in FIGS. 11 and 12. The sleeve 9''a of the intermediate member 9 '' has moved somewhat away from the stop 5''a of the actuating pedal 5 ''.

If the pressure exerted on the actuation pedal 5 ″ is increased, the free end of the actuation pedal 5 ″ is pressed further against the top of the ski 10 ″. However, this has the consequence that the second section 9''h of the extension 9''b is pivoted upward. The free end region of the second section 9''h of the extension 9''b migrates upward. In the end position of the ski brake 1 '' according to FIGS. 13 and 14, which corresponds to the ready position, the end sections 7''d of the two wire brake arms 7 '' are the most distant from the transverse axis 4 '', and the two sections 7 ' 'a are pivoted in against the vertical longitudinal center plane of the ski brake 1' '.

The last embodiment of a ski brake 1 '''shown in FIGS. 15-20 also has a base plate 2''' with a base 2 '''a, on which upwardly projecting side parts 2''' b are attached. The base plate 2 '''is on the top of the ski 10 '''attached with screws 3'''. In the side parts 2 '''b, a transverse axis 4''' is fastened, on which an actuating pedal 5 '''and raising springs 6''' are arranged.

Fig.20).In the bores 2 '' 'c of the side parts 2' '' b, wire brake arms 7 '' 'are mounted, which are connected to one another at their end sections 7' '' d arranged in the actuating pedal 5 '' 'by a connecting spring 8' ''. An intermediate member 9 '' 'is placed on the connecting spring 8' '' and consists of a cylindrical sleeve 9 '' 'a running transversely to the longitudinal axis and an elongated extension 9' '' b adjoining this. However, in contrast to the previous exemplary embodiments, the extension 9 '' 'b of the intermediate member 9' '' is U-shaped in plan view, the free ends of the legs 9 '' 'k of the extension 9' '' b pointing inwards 9 '' 'i wear (see especially Fig. 20).

Attached to the base plate 2 ″ ″ is a bearing block 2 ″ ″ running in the vertical longitudinal center plane and directed away from the transverse axis 4 ″ ″, which is approximately I-shaped in cross section. Two grooves 2 "" h of the bearing block 2 "" g serve to guide the projections 9 "" i of the intermediate member 9 "". On the end face of the bearing block 2 '' 'g, a support surface 2' '' f is formed in the form of an extension.

Dabei sei auf die unterschiedlichen Lagen der Vorsprünge 9'''i des Zwischengliedes 9''' nach der Fig.16 und 18 hingewiesen.15 and 16 show the described ski brake 1 '' 'in mutually associated cracks in the braking position and FIGS. 17 and 18 in the ready position. The operation of this ski brake 1 '' 'corresponds essentially to that of the ski brakes 1 and 1' 'described above. Attention is drawn to the different positions of the projections 9 '' 'i of the intermediate link 9' '' according to FIGS. 16 and 18.

Die Fig.20 veranschaulicht das hier zur Verwendung gelangende Zwischenglied 9'''.Furthermore, the design and details of the base plate 2 '''can be seen particularly well in FIG. 19, since the further parts of the braking device have been omitted here. 20 illustrates the intermediate link 9 '''used here.

The invention is not tied to the embodiments shown in the drawing and described above. For example, ski brakes in which the intermediate member has such a large recess in the area of the sleeve that only two bearing eyes remain, which are supported directly on the end sections, are to be protected by the invention. Furthermore, intermediate links should also be protected, in which the design and arrangement of the guide and support elements from the described embodiments are combined. It would also be possible that the intermediate member does not rest on the top of the ski but on the correspondingly larger base plate base in the ready position of the ski brake.

If the end sections of the two brake arms carrying the connecting spring are angled outward, the connecting spring has an opening in its central region for threading these end sections. This exemption can be formed by appropriate distances between the turns of the connecting spring.

Furthermore, the connecting spring can also be formed as a bar spring, leaf spring or as a specially manufactured spring made of plastic or rubber.
