Description

This invention relates to an improved pergola construction, more particularly to a construction which makes it possible to transform a veranda into a pergola without having to replace the joists supporting the glazing.

Mainly, two protruding embodiments at the front and / or at the rear of a house are known, in order to provide a living space outside the house in which one can stay at any time without having nevertheless to undergo the unpleasant bad weather such as the wind, the rain, etc ..., on the one hand a veranda, which is a gallery or a hermetic greenhouse entirely surrounded by glazing, and on the other hand, a pergola, which is an embodiment mainly comprising pillars and a roof, hermetically surrounded by glazing or not, and which comprises a fore-body with the anterior face.

The verandas known so far all have the disadvantage that it is practically impossible, without resorting to complex dismantling work, to transform the construction of the veranda into a pergola.

Indeed, in this case and up to this day, it is necessary not only to replace the glazing of the roof and the small timber, but also the load-bearing system of the roof, which makes such a transformation very expensive.

The present invention therefore aims to provide in an embodiment which eliminates the disadvantage described above, and which allows to easily transform a veranda into a pergola using normal aluminum profiles. In this case it is only the glazing and the small wood which are replaced and the joists which are simply elongated.

It is obvious that the embodiment according to the invention is also applicable for new constructions. In fact, we thus obtain that a specific roof construction can be applied either for the realization of a veranda, or for the realization of a pergola by the use, in the latter case, of extensions or coupling parts. .

The realization of the veranda, respectively the pergola, according to the invention comprises a first part which consists mainly of a number of uprights, a horizontal transverse beam which rests on these uprights, a number of joists, one end of which is suitably installed against the wall of a house and a small wood with gaskets for fixing the glazing; a second part which consists of extensions or coupling parts which can extend the joists in a simple way; and of devices which connect the extensions or coupling parts with the joists.

In order to better demonstrate the features of the invention, preferred embodiments are described below, as an example without limitation, with references to the drawings included, in which:
  • Figure 1 shows a schematic perspective view of a veranda;
  • Figure 2 shows a close-up view of the part indicated by F2 in Figure 1;

  • Figure 7 shows a perspective view of the separate individual parts of the realization of the pergola according to the invention.

In the representation in FIG. 1, the construction of a veranda 1 mainly consists of a number of uprights 2, a horizontal transverse beam 3 which rests on these uprights 2, a number of crosspieces 4 or support joists, one end of which rests on the transverse beam 3 mentioned above and whose other end 6 is suitably installed against the wall of a house and a roof 7 which consists in most cases of glazing.

The sleepers 4 are composed according to the present invention, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, of two parts; on the one hand, of a small-timber 8 almost T-shaped, for fixing the roof 7, and on the other hand, of a joist 9, which has a recess 10, in which fits the petit-bois 8 T-shaped with its horizontal bead 11. The joist is preferably made of extruded aluminum.

The roof 7 mentioned above consists, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, of individual glass panels 12, the sides 13 and 14 respectively of which rest on two horizontal strips 11 of the timber 8 in the shape of a T of two crosspieces 4 adjacent.

The glass panels 12 are separated by the beads vertical 15 of the small timber 8 in the form of T of the respective crosspieces 4. The panels 12 are then tightly fixed by known seals 16.

Then plates 18 are installed at the ends of the small timber 8 in the shape of a T, at the height of the gutter 17 which is adequately fixed to the transverse beam 3, so that the glass panels 12 cannot move by compared to transverse beams 3 even during a significant inclination of the roof construction.

The present invention aims to greatly simplify the transformation of a construction of a veranda 1 into a construction of a pergola 19 shown in FIG. 4.

To do this, the glass 12 and the small timber 8 with seals 16 must be replaced and the joists 9 must be lengthened in order to provide in a typical embodiment an addition with protrusion of a pergola construction 19.

As shown in Figures 5 to 7, the joist 9 of the crosspieces 4 of the construction of a pergola 19 is equipped with an extension 20 made of the same profile as that of the joist 9 of the crosspieces 4. The extension 20 above is connected to the joist 9 with a coupling piece 21, made of wood, aluminum or steel, and which is fixed inside the extension 20 and the joist 9 with devices fixing 22, such as for example screws 23 and ankle bolts 24.

The extensions 20, which are closed by means of a head plate 28 so that the crosspieces 4 have the appearance of a single whole beam, include a notch 25 for a gutter 17.

De préférence une rallonge 20 sera prévue à chaque extrémité 26 et 27 de la poutre transversale 3.Preferably an extension 20 will be provided at each end 26 and 27 of the transverse beam 3.

It is obvious that, in the construction of a aforementioned pergola 19, the glass 12 and the small timber 8 with seals 16 of the construction of a veranda 1 are no longer used.

In order not to interrupt the flow of water from the joist located between the extensions 20 and the joists 9 and in order to consequently avoid water infiltration there, the glass 12 and the small logs 8 with joints of sealing 16 of the construction of a veranda 1 are replaced by glass 12 and small wood 8 with seals 16 longer and which continue up to the gutter 17.

In this way we obtain a realization which allows simply to build either a veranda, or a pargola, or to transform also a veranda into a pergola.

The present invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and shown in the figures as an example, but that such an improved construction for making a pergola can be produced in any shape and size without departing from the scope of the invention.
