the present invention relates to a device for fixing a glazing or similar surface against the frame of a frame support, in particular metallic and more especially, albeit not exclusively, made of aluminum profile.
the classic solution consists, at the same time that the glass is properly centered in its support by placing suitable seat wedges between the glass and the return of the frame. and on which the edge of the glass rests, to have between the bottom of the frame and the internal part of the glass a putty or similar bonding material, generally based on silicone which fixes these two elements together.
the present invention relates to a fixing device which avoids these drawbacks by allowing efficient and safe bonding of flat surfaces, in particular glass, on a framing support, regardless of the shape or nature of the surface coating of the metallic elements or others which constitute this support.
the device according to the invention is characterized in that the face is applied against the flat surface with the interposition of a putty, the characteristics of which are defined beforehand to be exactly adapted to those of the profile and to those of the flat surface, allowing their mutual connection, the bonding profile being immobilized in an open groove formed hollow in the framing support.
the invention therefore consists in avoiding all the drawbacks which result from a possible incompatibility between a determined putty and a profile constituting the part of the framing support against which a flat glass or other surface must be glued, by inserting the place of bonding an appropriate profile, metallic or possibly of another nature which has a precise surface condition for which the putty used is also suitable.
the invention therefore makes it possible to ensure the bonding between the glass and this profile by overcoming the particular characteristics of the framing support, the latter being only provided with means making it possible to mechanically fix the bonding profile which thus becomes integral with the support and ensures the connection with the glass surface under conditions always equal to themselves.
the bonding profile has a rectangular section with an open lateral groove in which engages at least one raised rib carried by the support to immobilize the profile in the groove thereof.
the bonding profile has a dovetail or other section.
the flat surface and the framing support delimit beyond the putty interposed in line with the bonding profile a space reserved for a filling material to keep the putty facing the profile.
the flat surface is mounted in its framing support by means of seat wedges arranged in the bottom of the support, a seal being housed between the glass and the 'extremity of the support, towards the outside of this one.
the mastic consists of an adhesive product, in particular a structural silicone, the characteristics of which are adapted according to the invention to the nature of the bonding profile itself, consisting a metallic element, in particular an aluminum, composite material or other suitable material.
the bonding profile is made of the same material as that of the planar surface, for example glass.
the invention thus has the advantage of very rapid assembly and adaptation, whatever the structure and the nature of the surface coating of the profiles which constitute the framing support.
the provision in the latter of the groove intended to receive the bonding profile can easily be envisaged in the manufacture of these profiles without causing a significant increase in their cost price.
the establishment of the bonding profile is very easy and made all the easier since this profile is not visible from the outside once the glazing has been placed in its support.

the glazing 2 is mounted in its frame support 3 with interposition of seat wedges 12 suitably distributed.
connection between the face of the glazing 2 turned towards the inside of the framing support, that is to say towards the part 8 of the latter, is secured to the latter at the by means of a connecting putty 13, the bottom of the support under the putty being filled with a filling material 14.
a seal 15 is advantageously mounted towards the outer end of the edge 9 around the glazing 2.
connection is made between the glazing 2 and the framing support 3 by the putty 13, by fitting the part 8 with a shaped part 16 which came directly during the manufacture of the corresponding profile to thus define a groove 17 open towards the glazing 2.
a bonding profile 18 in particular metallic but which could possibly be of another nature, this profile being anchored inside the groove 17 by ribs 19 and 20 respectively provided in the profile and which penetrate into grooves of the same section of the profile.
the profile 18 has an external surface 21 which is preferably flush with the outside while lying in the extension of the part 8 and against which the bonding putty 13 is bonded.
This surface 21 has exactly determined characteristics, chosen according to of the nature of the adhesive sealant which can therefore, whatever the state or surface coating of the framing support, ensure in all circumstances the gluing of the glazing against the support under exactly determined conditions.
FIG 1 there is schematically shown a barrier 22 reported on the front of the framing support against the glazing, this par-close having however only a decorative or sealing role but not participating by itself to the connection exclusively produced by the putty and the bonding profile 18.
Figure 2 illustrates another alternative embodiment where the bonding profile 18a mounted in the groove 17 here has a dovetail shape thus avoiding the anchoring ribs provided in the variant of Figure 1 where the groove and the profile that it receives have a general rectangular section.
the invention is not limited to a particular material both for the bonding profile itself and for the putty used, which is however generally a product based on silicone.
