Abstract

A transferable jewelry clasp that can be worn with different chains or bands which has the shape of a ring or has a central opening and has an upper part and a lower part. These parts are connected with one another on one side by means of a hinge, and on the opposite side by means of a snap clasp. It can thus be opened and closed easily. In order to ensure that the jewelry clasp is not lost, two cams directed inwardly toward the central opening are attached to the upper part. Eyelets are attached to the ends of the chain, which are so dimensioned that their internal diameters are larger than the thickness of the jewelry clasp ring and smaller than the thickness of the ring plus the height of the cam. With such dimensioning, the chain and eyelets can only be attached to a position differing from the supporting direction on the upper clasp part, and the danger of loss is avoided, even if the jewelry clasp is opened involuntarily.

Description

The invention relates to a transferable jewelry lock with attached various necklaces or ribbons, the end loops of which are adapted to the jewelry lock, the jewelry lock being formed in two parts and the two parts being connected by a hinge and enclosing a round or differently shaped central opening and by means of a the hinge opposite side are connected by a snap lock.

A necklace on which a piece of jewelry is worn is usually provided with a lock for connecting the chain ends. However, this lock often slips forward and this looks ugly. A beautiful chain would also come into its own if it were connected to the piece of jewelry in another way. This becomes possible if the piece of jewelry itself is designed as a jewelry lock. Then a separate chain lock can be omitted and the piece of jewelry thus formed can be held by eyelets at the chain ends. The piece of jewelry itself also serves as a lock for the chain. A piece of jewelry designed in this way can then be worn with various chains or ribbons.

The invention has set itself the task of creating a jewelry lock that meets the following requirements:

  • 1. es soll ein Schmuckschloss bilden, das vorne sichtbar getragen werden kann;1. it should form a jewelry lock that can be worn visibly at the front;
  • 2. es soll an unterschiedlichen Ketten oder Bändern getragen werden können;2. it should be able to be worn on different chains or bands;
  • 3. der Verschluss soll sich auch bei gewaltsamem Zug an der Kette nicht öffnen;3. the lock should not open even when the chain is pulled by force;
  • 4. es soll einen leicht zu öffnenden Verschluss haben;4. it should have an easy-to-open closure;
It should remain captively connected to the chain if the lock is opened unintentionally.

From DE-U 7 513 404 a heart-shaped clasp for jewelry chains has become known, which can be called a jewelry lock with some goodwill, although in the description it is only referred to as an ornamental addition to the jewelry chain. However, this closure cannot meet the requirement mentioned under point 5. When the lock is open, the chain hangs! The requirements in points 3 and 4 are also only met to a limited extent. The lock can open if the chain is pulled hard. The only way to counteract this is that the opening force is great.

Es handelt sich hier um einen einfachen Gebrauchsgegenstand, der nichts mit einem Schmuckstück gemeinsam hat.DE-C 377 488 has disclosed special means which are intended to prevent the chain from being detached when the lock is open. This closure can therefore not meet the requirement mentioned under point 2. In addition, it is a simple spring ring lock that is firmly connected to a chain end. It is a simple commodity that has nothing in common with a piece of jewelry.

The invention solves this problem with a transferable jewelry lock according to the preamble of claim 1, the piece of jewelry having the features mentioned in the part of claim 1.

Figure imgb0001
The jewelry lock 1, which is simplified and shown on a larger scale in FIG. 1, is ring-shaped and comprises an upper part 2 and a lower part 3, which are pivotally connected to one another by a hinge pin 4. On the side diametrically opposite the hinge, a snap closure 5 is attached, which is explained in more detail with reference to FIG. 2. The designations upper and lower part refer to the position that the jewelry lock takes when it is hanging on the chain or on the belt. The upper part 2 is provided with two inwardly projecting cams 6, 6 ', one is located adjacent to the separation point between the upper and the lower part, the second 6' on the hinge side. In Figure 1 it can be seen how the end eyelet 7 of a chain 8 can be applied to the upper half 2. For this purpose, the eyelet must first be brought over the cam 6 and can then be pivoted in the direction of the arrow R. The position of the eyelet differs greatly from that when worn, but is the only possible position for attaching the eyelet to the upper part if the dimensions are correct. Strictly speaking, the inner diameter of the end loop D must be dimensioned so that
Figure imgb0001
where x = width of the cam and y = width of the jewelry lock in the radial direction. The width x of the cam must not be too large, since otherwise the inside diameter D would have to be made so large that this would render the safeguard against unintentional detachment null. The correct dimensioning of the eyelets ensures that even if the jewelry lock opens unintentionally when worn, it cannot detach from the chain. The upper jewelry lock half 2 is provided with a second cam 6 ', which ensures that the eyelets 7 and 7' always remain in the area of the upper half. Thereby there is no risk of losing the jewelry lock when you are wearing it. It should also be noted that the chain itself no longer needs a lock!

Figures 2-4 show the same ring-shaped jewelry lock on a smaller scale. A possible embodiment of the snap lock is shown in these figures. At the bottom of a wide bore 51 of the lower part 3, a resilient pin 52 is attached, which has a notch 53. The free end of the pin with the notch engages in a wide bore 21 of the upper part 2 in the closed state and snaps behind a locking projection. Such a projection can be produced, for example, by a small bolt 22 inserted into a transverse bore, as shown in FIG. 4.

Figures 5-9 show some possible embodiments of jewelry locks with an attached chain, approximately in natural size. In FIG. 5, three ring-shaped jewelry locks which are each to be opened are connected by double rings. This enables the wearer to attach one or more of these jewelry locks to the same chain. Such a double ring and a single jewelry lock are shown for themselves at the bottom in FIG. The arrows S and T indicate the seam of the hinge S and the separation point T of the two halves. The direction of the arrows coincides with the direction of the joints, which are hardly recognizable in the closed state. The two cams 6, 6 'are clearly recognizable, but are not provided with reference numerals in order not to overload the drawing.

Figure 6 shows a heart-shaped jewelry lock with chain, according to the invention. Here, too, hinge S and separation point T are indicated by arrows in the direction and position. Figures 7, 8 and 9 show further variants. FIG. 7 shows a jewelry lock that closes a single chain, FIG. 9 shows the same jewelry lock, but as a closure for a double-row pearl necklace.

The pearl necklace is divided into two separate chains, each with its own eyelets. This enables the wearer to wear the jewelry lock with a single or a double chain. Figure 10 finally shows a modern band, the end of which is provided with an eyelet 10. The eyelet is dimensioned accordingly with the jewelry lock to be connected to it, so that the eyelet can only be attached to the upper part of the jewelry lock in a position that deviates from the carrying direction. The production of a concealed snap lock according to FIGS. 2-4 is explained with reference to FIGS. 11a-c. For this purpose, the holes 51 and 21 are first made in the jewelry halves 2 and 3. In the case of a ring-shaped jewelry clasp, these run approximately tangentially. The bore 51, which is to receive the spring pin, is deeper than the bore 21 with the locking bolt 22. A spring pin 52 with a thickened lower end 54 is now inserted into the deeper bore 51 and pinned and soldered in the correct position with pin 55 (FIG 11 b).

Jetzt wird das Schmuckschloss geschlossen, sodass das freie Ende des Federstiftes 52 in die Bohrung 21 hineinragt Jetzt kann eine quer zur Federstiftachse verlaufende Bohrung angebracht werden, an einer Stelle, die so gewählt ist, dass der Bohrer zugleich eine gerundete Kerbe 53 aus dem Federstift herausschneidet Auf diese elegante Weise ist zugleich mit dem Einsetzen eines Bolzens 22 ein Arretierungsvorsprung und die dazugehörende Arretierungskerbe geschaffenNow the jewelry lock is closed, so that the free end of the spring pin 52 protrudes into the bore 21. A bore running transversely to the spring pin axis can now be made at a location that is selected such that the drill simultaneously cuts a rounded notch 53 out of the spring pin In this elegant manner, a locking projection and the associated locking notch are created at the same time as a bolt 22 is inserted

Such drilling and soldering work are undesirable in a serial or factory production. The variant of a simple jewelry lock shown in FIGS. 12 to 14 avoids drilling work that is difficult to carry out and does completely without soldering.

The general structure corresponds to that according to FIG. 1. The jewelry lock again consists of an upper half 20 and a lower half 30, which are hinged together by a bolt 40. The simplification is that the spring part 60 of the closure is provided with cams 61, 61 '. The spring part (60) lies in a groove 201 of the upper part 20 and in the assembled state only the two cams 61, 61 'protrude from the groove. The spring part 60 is flat so that it finds a guide in the groove. The two ends 62 and 63 are widened, while the narrow part 64 in between forms the actual spring. The widened part 62 is shaped such that it lies against the base of the groove 201 in the assembled state. It is held in this position by a pin 202, as shown in FIG. 12. In the assembled state, the widened end 63 also lies on the base of the groove 201, possibly with little tension. This end is not only provided with a cam 61, but also with a slightly rounded hook 65. When the jewelry clasp is open, this hook protrudes from the upper half 20.

The lower half 30 of the jewelry clasp is also provided with a groove 301 which has a bore near the separation point, into which a pin 302 is inserted. If the two halves 20, 30 are closed, the spring part bends a little in the direction of arrow B (FIG. 14), the hook 65 snaps behind the pin 302 and the jewelry clasp remains closed. The effect of the two cams 61, 61 'is the same as that described above with reference to FIG. 1. Even if the jewelry clasp unintentionally loosens when worn, it remains attached to the eyes of the chain thanks to the cams 61, 61'. The prerequisite for this is, of course, that these eyelets, as also described above, are of the correct size.

As can be seen from the drawing and mentioned in the description, holes must also be drilled and pins inserted during assembly. However, these are much easier to install than the holes in the embodiment according to Figure 1. In addition, no soldering is required!

Claims (4)

1. A transferable jewellery clasp with various neck-chains or bands arranged thereon, the end eyes of which chains or bands are adapted to the jewellery clasp (1), the clasp being constructed in two parts, and the two parts (2, 3) being joined by a hinge (4) and surrounding a round or otherwise shaped central opening and being joinable together by a snap closure by means of a side opposite to the hinge, characterised in that the division extends horizontally in the wearing position of the jewellery clasp, and in that two cams (6) are arranged on the upper part (2) of the jewellery clasp, one at the side where the snap closure (5) is and the other at the side where the hinge (4) is, these cams being directed towards the central opening, and in that the end eyes (7) of the neck-chain or of the band are dimensioned such that their inner diameter (D) is greater than the thickness (y) of the upper clasp part half and less than the thickness of the upper clasp part plus the height of the cam, with the result that only in the opened position of the clasp can they be brought over the cam and on to the upper clasp part (2), or be detached from the latter as the case may be.
2. A jewellery clasp according to Claim 1, characterised in that the two cams (6, 6') are firmly joined to the upper half (2) of the piece of jewellery.
