Definitions

  • Acoustic protection is an important problem during the construction of modern buildings and especially industrial buildings. In fact, it must ensure not only the absorption of interior noises to which people in the building are subjected, these noises being able in certain cases to reach very important levels likely to cause deafness and even nervous disorders, but also insulation against the transmission of noise from the inside to the outside, or vice versa, in order for example to remove the discomfort inflicted in the vicinity.
  • the walls of industrial buildings are very often constructed with light metal complexes fixed on a frame and comprising a ribbed interior coating, a thermal insulation and an exterior coating, ribbed or not, the interior coating possibly being perforated to improve the absorption of sounds by the insulating material.
  • the object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by providing a wall which, while ensuring rant good interior absorption and good insulation vis-à-vis the outside, is easy to set up and inexpensive to achieve.
  • the object of this invention is in fact a thermo-acoustic insulating wall in which the inner covering is provided with strongly projecting ribs which delimit a succession of elongated housings, parallel to each other, acoustic reinforcement blocks each formed by a panel acoustically absorbent material, which is coated on one of its large faces with an acoustically insulating and airtight coating, are retained inside each housing, between the inner lining and a thermal insulator which is covered by an exterior coating.
  • the reinforcement blocks can have any desired dimensions and are introduced, on the site, between the ribs of the interior covering which has been previously fixed on the frame, which simplifies both the transport of the materials and their installation for the realization of the wall.
  • the blocks can be retained by the ribs themselves which, for this purpose, have a shape folded towards the inside of the housings, or by annexed members mounted on these ribs.
  • a second layer of blocks is mounted between the first and retaining members overlapping the ribs of the covering.
  • the insulating wall shown in these drawings comprises an inner coating 1 provided with parallel ribs 2 strongly projecting.
  • this interior covering is formed by a succession of U-shaped sheets 11 which preferably have a perforated flat bottom 4 and whose wings 3 are curved so as to fit onto the wings of the adjacent sheet to form the ribs 2.
  • each sheet are for example (fig. 1 and 2) folded inwards, at 5, then straightened perpendicular to the perforated plane bottom 4, to be extended by a flat side 6 facing outwards and terminated by a flange 8, 10, the two flanges 8, 10 of the same sheet having the same direction, so that the flank 6 and the flange 10 of a sheet are housed inside the flank 6 and the flange 8 of the adjacent sheet, which immobilizes the two sheets in the direction perpendicular to their wings.
  • each of the U-shaped sheets 11 is arranged a series of reinforcing blocks 12 placed end to end and in contact, on the one hand with the perforated bottom 4 of the U-shaped sheet 11 and, on the other hand, with the wings 3 of this sheet, so that they are retained by the inclined portions 5 of the wings.
  • Each block 12 is formed by a panel 14 made of an acoustically absorbent material, constituted for example by mineral wool or a block of foam.
  • This panel 14 is coated on one of its large faces, in fact on the side furthest from the perforated bottom 4, with an acoustically insulating and airtight coating, forming a relatively thin layer compared to the thickness of the panel.
  • the coating 16 is, for example, an organic coating consisting of organic resins provided with fillers, or a hydraulic coating formed of cement or lime and comprising fillers. It can also be constituted by a mixture of organic coating and hydraulic coating, such as a mixture of organic resin, cement and filler, capable of withstanding bad weather. In addition, glass, carbon, metal, or other fibers can be added in either of these coatings.
  • a thermally insulating mattress 18 covers all of the U-shaped sheets and blocks 12 by overlapping the ribs 2 formed by the wings of the sheets and is protected by an outer covering 20 which includes ribs or undulations perpendicular to the wings of the sheets.
  • the insulator 18 and the covering 20 cooperate with the coating layer 16 of each panel 12 to ensure effective acoustic insulation, behaving like a mass-spring-mass system.
  • the wall thus formed therefore makes it possible to obtain effective protection against both internal and external noise.
  • the size of the blocks 12 can be chosen according to the manufacturing and transport facilities, the blocks being placed end to end inside the sheet in U 11 and their number may vary depending on the dimensions of the wall to be produced. These blocks can also overlap two successive U-shaped sheets and ensure the continuity of the insulation at the junction between these sheets (fig. 3).
  • each U-shaped sheet 11 is fixed to the metal frame of the building, at two or more points.
  • the sheets 11 are thus placed one next to the other, so that their wings interlock, and also end to end, two U-shaped sheets 11 and 21 being, for example, fixed on the same profile 22, as shown Figure 3.
  • Reinforcement blocks 12 are then introduced into each of the U-shaped sheets, so as to be in contact with one another and to fill the entire interior space of the U-shaped sheets.
  • a block 12 a is introduced both into these two successive sheets and fills the space which separates them, in line with the profile 22.
  • the blocks 12 are automatically held in place by the portions 5 of the wings of the sheets, without it it is necessary to use other fasteners.
  • the thermal insulator 18 can then be unrolled on the wings of the sheets installed, then protected by the external coating 20.
  • Such a construction is extremely simple and is carried out in a conventional manner.
  • blocks 24 produced in the same way as the blocks 12 , in the same material or in different materials, with similar or different thicknesses, are introduced between the wings of each sheet, against the blocks 12.
  • the blocks 24 are supported on the flat parts 15 wings which are perpendicular to the perforated sheet 4. They are optionally retained by means of jumpers 26, fitted on the sides 6 of the two wings, hooked and fixed on these sides 6 by fixing members such as screws 28. These jumpers , as well as the rest of the wings and the blocks 24, are covered by the thermal insulator 18, in the same manner as in the embodiment of FIG. 1.
  • jumpers 30 similar to jumpers 26 could also be used to retain the first layer of reinforcement blocks.
  • FIG. 5 shows an embodiment of this type.
  • the wings 32 of the U-shaped sheets 31 are simply bent in an inverted L, all in the same direction.
  • the dimensions of the two opposite wings of the same sheet, however, are slightly different, so that the wings of two adjacent sheets can fit into each other.
  • Jumpers 30 are then fitted onto the sidewall 36, parallel to the bottom of the sheet metal 31, of each wing 32 and extend downwards until they come into contact with the coating 16 of the blocks 12 placed in the sheet metal.
  • the thermal insulator 18 covers the wings 32 of the sheets as well as the jumpers 30, and an external coating 20 protects the assembly.
  • the other flanks 35 of the wings 32 may also have cutouts 38 folded down on the outside and forming retaining cleats for the reinforcing blocks. These tabs 38 can replace the jumpers 30 or be used in combination with the latter.
  • the internal coating is formed by a substantially continuous sheet 41, which can be completely flat or slightly corrugated or ribbed, as shown, and which is preferably perforated.
  • a substantially continuous sheet 41 which can be completely flat or slightly corrugated or ribbed, as shown, and which is preferably perforated.
  • parallel sections 43 which delimit, with the sheet, elongated receiving housings, each of at least one layer of blocks 12.
  • the profile 43 comprises for example, as shown in the drawings, two substantially parallel flanks 42 and 46 respectively, on either side of a core 44.
  • the flank 42 is used for attachment to the sheet 41 while the outer flank 46 serves as a support for the jumpers 30 which hold the blocks 12.
  • the cores 45 may, like the sides 35 of FIG. 5, include cutouts 38 which cooperate with the jumpers 30 or replace them.
  • the sections 43 are covered by thermal insulation 18 which overlaps them and is protected by the external covering 20.
  • sections 43 as well as the wings 3 of the U-shaped sheets can have any suitable shape, the embodiments described above and shown being given only by way of examples.
  • the insulating wall can be mounted in the vertical position shown as well as in the horizontal position. It can even possibly be used as a cover. In the latter case, however, a tank providing an air space is preferably interposed between the ribs of the inner lining and the thermal insulator 18.
  • the establishment of the reinforcement blocks 12 or 24 can be carried out in a very simple manner, on the site, and does not require any complicated maneuver.
  • the coating can have a certain flexibility, this installation is further facilitated.
  • the continuity of the acoustic protection is extremely good since the blocks are always in contact with each other over the entire length of the wall.
  • the sound insulation obtained can be increased by superimposing several layers of blocks at the interior of each dwelling.
  • the blocks can easily be manufactured industrially, at a relatively low cost price.
