Definitions
- the invention is based on the preamble of the independent claim from DE-OS 34 32 663.
- the known device is used for injecting a liquid fuel into the combustion chamber of a diesel engine, with the injection jet having an inherent rotation about the jet axis for better mixture formation.
- This intrinsic rotation or the swirl of the injection jet is brought about by channels arranged at an angle to the valve axis, via which the fuel is supplied to the outlet opening from a chamber formed in the valve body when the valve is open.
- the channel is arranged helically on the outer circumference of a cylindrical collar adjacent to the valve cone, the channel being connected to an annular chamber which stores the fuel.
- the annular chamber is delimited on the one hand by the stem of the valve and on the other hand by the bore in the valve body which receives the valve collar.
- the chamber storing the fuel is designed as an annular chamber radially spaced from the valve in the valve body, from which the fuel is supplied to the outlet opening via the tangentially arranged channels when the valve is open.
- a relatively unimpeded flow of heat to the fuel in the respective storage chamber of the device applies to both examples.
- the invention has for its object to design the device of the type described above for the use of a cryogenic, gaseous fuel, in particular hydrogen, so that the essential part of the cryogenic fuel stored in the device during operation can absorb little heat.
- a stem arranged predominantly with play in the valve body interrupts the heat flow from the valve body to the fuel stored in the hollow stem of the valve, so that the cryogenic fuel can be fed to the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine with an insignificantly changed density.
- cryogenic fuel can flow from the inlet chamber via the shaft play with the valve body to the overflow chamber adjacent to the outlet opening, this flow occurring in the bypass occurring especially when the valve is open.
- This has the advantage that the cryogenic fuel in the bypass has only a short dwell time and thus on the one hand absorbs little heat and on the other hand additionally cools the hollow shaft of the valve from the outside.
- Claim 3 describes a further embodiment of the device, in which the valve is intermittently controlled via the stem by a separate stroke actuating device.
- the shaft is made hollow up to the coupling with the lifting actuating device according to a partial feature of claim 6.
- the shaft is made hollow up to the coupling with the lifting actuating device according to a partial feature of claim 6.
- a device 1 for the dosed supply of cryogenic, gaseous hydrogen into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine comprises, in a valve body 2, a valve 4 guided over a shaft 3 and which intermittently controls an outlet opening 5 arranged in the valve body 2.
- the intermittent control of the valve 4 is effected by a separate stroke actuating device 6, which acts on the stem 3 of the valve 4.
- the stem 3 is guided through a bushing 7 in an end region facing away from the valve 4.
- this can be formed from teflon graphite or teflon bronze.
- the shaft 3 between the valve 4 and the coupling point with the stroke actuating device 6 is hollow.
- the hollow shaft 3 serves in the device 1 as a storage chamber 8 for the cryogenic hydrogen which is to be introduced into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine via the outlet opening 5.
- the socket 7 is arranged adjacent to the valve side in the valve body 2, an inlet chamber 10 connected to a fuel connection 9.
- the inlet chamber 10 is connected to the storage chamber 8 in a fuel-carrying connection via openings 11 in the shaft 3.
- channels 12 are located close to the valve 4 in the shaft 3 arranged.
- the channels 12 connect the storage chamber 8 to an overflow chamber 13 which is concentric in the valve body 2 with the stem 3.
- the overflow chamber 13 connects directly to the outlet opening 5 or the valve seat 14.
- the channels 12 are arranged obliquely and / or approximately tangentially in the circumferential direction of the shaft 3 in order to achieve an injection jet with swirl.
- the inlet chamber 10 is connected to the overflow chamber 13 in a fuel-carrying connection via a gap 16 formed between the stem 3 and valve body 2.
- the stem 3 On the side facing away from the socket 7 from the valve 4, the stem 3 is extended beyond the valve body 2 for connection to the separate stroke actuating device 6. As can also be seen from the drawing, the stem 3 is approximately up to the coupling point with the stroke Actuator 6 designed hollow. Furthermore, a connecting flange 17 axially spaced apart from the valve body 2 is arranged fuel-tight on the shaft 3 in its end region facing the stroke actuating device 6. In order to achieve a fuel-tight arrangement, an axially flexible bellows 18 is arranged between the connecting flange 17 and the free end of the valve body 2 and is in a fuel-tight connection at both ends with the respective component.
- the stroke actuating device 6 comprises a stroke drive 10 which moves the valve 4 via the shaft 3 in the opening direction and a closing spring 20.
- the closing spring 20 is arranged in a housing 21 which is connected on the one hand to the valve body 2 and on the other hand carries the stroke drive 19 and at one end against the housing 21 supported. At the other end, the closing spring 20 is supported on a radially outwardly directed flange 22 of a hat-shaped bush 23 arranged on the shaft 3 via the connecting flange 17.
- the stroke actuating device 6 forms a structural unit with the valve body 2 via the housing 21.
- the cryogenic hydrogen supplied with pressure via the fuel connection 9 passes through openings 11 to the storage space 8 formed in the hollow shaft 3.
- the valve 4 opens, the hydrogen enters the overflow chamber 13 with swirl from the storage chamber 8 via the channels 12 and from there via the outlet opening 5 into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine.
- the gap 16 between the stem 3 and the valve body 2 generally causes an interruption of the heat flow to the cryogenic fuel located in the hollow stem 3 or in the storage space 8.
- the gap 16 causes fuel to be transported from the inlet chamber 10 to the overflow chamber 13 with the effect of cooling the shaft 3 over a large area on its outer surface.

Description
The invention is based on the preamble of the independent claim from DE-OS 34 32 663.
The known device is used for injecting a liquid fuel into the combustion chamber of a diesel engine, with the injection jet having an inherent rotation about the jet axis for better mixture formation. This intrinsic rotation or the swirl of the injection jet is brought about by channels arranged at an angle to the valve axis, via which the fuel is supplied to the outlet opening from a chamber formed in the valve body when the valve is open. In a first example, the channel is arranged helically on the outer circumference of a cylindrical collar adjacent to the valve cone, the channel being connected to an annular chamber which stores the fuel. The annular chamber is delimited on the one hand by the stem of the valve and on the other hand by the bore in the valve body which receives the valve collar. In a second exemplary embodiment, the chamber storing the fuel is designed as an annular chamber radially spaced from the valve in the valve body, from which the fuel is supplied to the outlet opening via the tangentially arranged channels when the valve is open. A relatively unimpeded flow of heat to the fuel in the respective storage chamber of the device applies to both examples.
The invention has for its object to design the device of the type described above for the use of a cryogenic, gaseous fuel, in particular hydrogen, so that the essential part of the cryogenic fuel stored in the device during operation can absorb little heat.
This object is achieved with the characterizing features of the independent claim. A stem arranged predominantly with play in the valve body interrupts the heat flow from the valve body to the fuel stored in the hollow stem of the valve, so that the cryogenic fuel can be fed to the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine with an insignificantly changed density.
An advantageous development of the invention with simple means is described in
The invention is described with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing in half a longitudinal section.
A device 1 for the dosed supply of cryogenic, gaseous hydrogen into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, not shown, comprises, in a
As can be seen from the figure, the
On the side facing away from the
The stroke actuating device 6 comprises a
When the internal combustion engine is operating, the cryogenic hydrogen supplied with pressure via the fuel connection 9 passes through
