Definitions
- the invention relates to a brush applicator for placing on a tube or similar container made of a relatively soft material, consisting of a bristle base covered with bristles and a product channel connecting a passage of the bristle base with an out-dimension of the tube, and also with an attached to the bristle base Handle unit surrounding the product channel and with a covering cap to be placed over the whole of the bristles and placed on the circumference of the bristle base.
- a device of this type is described in FR-PS 1 537 841.
- This applicator has a threaded bushing on the circumference of its product channel for screwing onto the product outlet of a cream tube or the like.
- the product channel runs through the brush body right up to the tips of the bristles. This ensures that the tube content is applied directly to the surface to be treated.
- the known brush applicator apparently has a handle unit attached to the bristle base of the brush and surrounding the product channel for stabilizing the brush relative to the tube and thus for improved handling when applying the tube contents by means of the brush applicator.
- the known device has a covering cap to be placed over the bristles, which is to be placed on the edge of the bristle base and which is intended to cover the whole of the bristles. If the bristles span approximately one cylinder in total, the cover cap should have a cylindrical shape.
- the device known from FR-PS 1 537 841 can also have a brush which exceeds the dimension of the tube cross-section by a multiple.
- a large-area brush of this type has a connection for screwing on a cream tube at one point on the back of the bristle base.
- a circumferential edge is formed on the bristle base circumference, which apparently serves to hold and guide the brush and - according to the illustration shown - on the side of the bristle base facing away from the bristles, obliquely by approximately 45 ° , is inclined outwards with respect to the center of the bristle base.
- the invention has for its object to dimension the handle unit of the brush applicator so that a low dimensional stability of the connected container in the application has no negative impact on the handling quality.
- the aim is to design the handle unit so that it can be held well with the fingers of one hand and at the same time the fingers are protected from dirt.
- the closure cap should be designed so that it takes up the entirety of the bristles with as little play as possible, thus preventing the bristles from drying out, and is nevertheless easy to put on a brush that is heavily wetted or mushroom-shaped.
- a bristle-covered brush or bristle base a handle unit attached to the bristle base and surrounding a product channel, and a brush applicator having a cover cap to be placed over the whole of the bristles
- the handle unit has a circumferential, in with respect to the bristle base has a substantially symmetrical and conical collar opening towards the bristles
- the cover cap has a bristle insertion funnel which, starting from the seat on the bristle base, opens towards the edge of the collar and ends at the collar edge.
- a handle ring is built into the tube mouth, which is sufficient to handle the applicator despite the possibly low dimensional stability of the connected container.
- the collar which opens conically in the direction of the bristles, not only makes it easier to hold the handle unit but also protects the gripping fingers like dirt on the bristles or on the surface to be treated.
- the insertion funnel molded onto the cover cap makes it possible to make the inside of the cap so narrow that the entire unit of the new or unused bristles has just enough space in the cap.
- the bristles which may have mushroomed through use are directed axially by the action of the insertion funnel and are pressed radially and held in this state in the cap. Because the cap volume is kept small, only relatively small bristle-free spaces remain in the cap and the risk of the bristles drying out or hardening is reduced accordingly.
- the collar and the insertion funnel are preferably shaped such that these parts are counter-conical to one another when the cover cap is attached.
- the acute opening angle spanned between the approximately cylindrical applicator wall and the collar can preferably be of the order of 20D.
- the acute angle between the insertion funnel and the essentially cylindrical cap wall can have a similar amount.
- the counter cone then arises from the fact that the openings of the two acute angles are directed towards one another.
- the axis of symmetry can then be formed by one and the same longitudinal axis going through the outlet of the container to be loaded.
- the outlet of the product channel itself - as a result of the interior of the cover cap - would normally remain open. It can therefore be advantageous to provide an additional means for closing the product channel outlet in the area of the brush. For example, it may be favorable to coaxially form a sealing plug entering the product channel when the cap is placed on the inside of the cover surface of the cover cap.
- cover cap may be desirable to associate the cover cap with a tight fit on the brush applicator such that inadvertent dropping of the cap is substantially eliminated.
- An advantageous solution is obtained if the cover cap as a seat on the bristle base has a circumferential groove or a circumferential bead on its inner edge region which merges into the insertion funnel and that on the circumference of the bristle base which is in contact with the inner surface when the cover cap is placed on it, a bead to be snapped into the groove or a corresponding groove to be snapped onto the bead is provided.
- another connection e.g. a screw connection can be provided.
- the opening side of a tube with a brush applicator attached is shown partly in section and partly in an external view.
- the tube 1 has a tube outlet 3 with an external thread 4 formed on the tube body via a tube neck 2.
- the brush applicator according to the invention is screwed onto the external thread 4 of the tube outlet 3 with the aid of an internal cylinder 6 with an internal thread 7.
- a product channel 8 with a longitudinal axis 9 is provided coaxially within the inner cylinder 6 and forms a connection between the tube outlet 3 and a passage 10 of the bristle base 11.
- a handle unit designated as a whole by 12, which consists of an essentially cylindrical body 13 formed on the bristle base 11 and extending as far as the tube neck 2, at which - approximately at the height of the tube outlet 3 collar 14 opening in the direction of the bristle base 11 is formed.
- the brush applicator 5 also includes a cover cap, denoted overall by 15, which is intended to tightly enclose bristles 16, preferably welded on the bristle base 11, with a cylindrical cap part 17.
- the cylindrical cap part 17 in the exemplary embodiment is intended to snap into place in a groove 19 provided on the inner surface with a bead 18 provided on the handle unit 12, such that a firm fit of the cap 15 on the handle unit 12 is ensured.
- cover cap 15 should be spread out beyond the bead 18 as an insertion funnel 20 so that when the cap 15 is placed on the bristle body, the entirety of the bristles 16 that may have mushroomed on (in relation to the longitudinal axis 9) are aligned and at the same time by adjusting the radii of the free Edges 21 and 22 of collar 14 and insertion funnel 20 ensure an essentially tight closure of the brush applicator 5.
- the surface of the collar 14 and expediently also the surface of the insertion funnel 20 are spread by about 20 ° in each case from the adjacent outer surface of the cylindrical body in such a way that when the cap 15 is attached, they together form a circumferential bead with a straight, an obtuse angle of approximately 140 ° form enclosing flanks.
- the outer surface of the collar 14 is lightly corrugated, there is at the same time a good hold and, due to the shielding action of the collar 14 when the cover cap 15 is removed, protection against contamination of the fingers holding the collar 14.
- the shape of the insertion funnel 20 has both an easier placement of the cover cap 15 on the bristles 16 and, because of the counter-conical design of the insertion funnel and collar 14, a strikingly favorable aesthetic effect, which apparently makes the gap between the free edges 21 and 22 invisible makes and still lets the user touch the handle unit 12 and the cap 15 at the correct places for separation.
- a relatively tight closure of the arrangement e.g. against dehydration.
- a sealing plug 25 is preferably provided which is coaxially formed on the inside 23 of the cover surface 24 of the cover cap 1 and which enters the product channel 8 when the cover cap 15 is placed on the handle unit 12.
