Definitions

  • the invention relates to a light mobile mortar fire unit, in particular high power mortar.
  • a mortar is mounted on a base plate by means of which it rests on the ground during the firing. It is generally positioned via a bipod assembly. To stabilize the assembly at the time of the firing, the plate has a pronounced relief according to three projections in edges arranged in a star in the main directions of thrust. The anchoring of this type of base plate in the ground guarantees sufficient stability to ensure high shooting accuracy.
  • the mortar is always supported on the base plate and the bipod assembly is constituted by the train of wheels. The plate collects and transmits the recoil energy to the ground with maximum efficiency.
  • Mobility requires the choice of a rather light vehicle, while heavy load-bearing vehicles capable of supporting the recoil of this type of mortar without breakage are of little interest because of their dimensions constituting a target of choice and their characteristic slowness.
  • the present invention makes it possible to reconcile the imperatives of cost, mobility and mechanical ability to resist without breakage to the brutal and violent thrust of the retreat of a mortar.
  • the object of the invention is to give a firing unit the necessary rapidity to build up and evacuate the firing zone, so as not to constitute immediately after firing a potential target for retaliation.
  • the present invention relates to a mortar firing unit comprising a carrier vehicle and a mortar mounted on a base plate characterized in that the carrier vehicle has a retractable suspension allowing the chassis to descend rapidly and in that the base plate is connected to the chassis of the vehicle via an elastic connection.
  • the mobility ensuring the effective exit speed from the firing zone and the all-terrain characteristics of the carrier vehicle as well as its speed of implementation constitute the main advantages of the invention.
  • the mobile firing unit according to the invention consists of a light all-terrain carrier vehicle, with crawler trains or with wheel trains.
  • This vehicle has the particularity of having a retractable suspension of the oleopneumatic, mechanical, electrical or other type, making it possible to lower the chassis to bring a support support in contact with the ground in the firing position, said support being connected in an elastic manner. with the frame or with another support carrying the mortar.
  • the first embodiment is shown in figures from 1 to 4.
  • the following figures relate to the second embodiment.
  • the mobile firing unit consists of a light all-terrain carrier vehicle 1, which can be either crawler trains or wheel trains.
  • a mortar 2 is mounted articulated on the vehicle via its barrel 3. The latter rests via a ball joint 4 on a base 5 secured to a base plate 6 connected to the central part of the chassis 7 of the carrier vehicle 1.
  • one of the main characteristics according to the invention consists in providing a retractable suspension of the vehicle making it possible to quickly put the base plate 6 in contact with the ground, this in order to take support during the shots.
  • This suspension also allows the entire plate and mortar to be reassembled so that the unit can quickly disengage from the firing location.
  • the plate 6 is in contact with the ground. It is not rigidly linked to the chassis 7 but is provided with an elastic connection 8 with a damping effect.
  • This connection can be, for example, made by several parallel windings of a metal cable. It allows, during the firing, a relative movement of the base plate relative to the chassis and makes it possible to partially filter the mechanical forces transmitted by the mortar.
  • FIG. 3 An embodiment of this suspension is shown in FIG. 3. It comprises on each side and on each roller 9 of the track train 10 a cylinder 11 acting by means of a lever 12 on each adjacent suspension arm 13 for reduce ground clearance by changing the tilt of each arm to the horizontal. In this way, the vehicle can collapse quickly to allow firing operations.
  • the chassis goes up and the firing unit can roll in all terrain course.
  • This base plate 6 can affect various shapes and reliefs. To this end, provision is made in particular for several spade-shaped ribs 14 connecting crampon shapes 15.
  • the vehicle makes a shot on very hard ground
  • the vehicle is supported on the base plate.
  • the mass of the vehicle can favor the anchoring and, consequently, the stabilization of the base plate on the ground and avoid, during a shooting at low incidence, to undergo a sliding or a shift.
  • the invention makes it possible effectively to attenuate the violent effects of the shock wave following the shooting, effects which are transmitted almost entirely to the ground.
  • the base 5 is secured to the base plate 6 by means of a reinforced mechanical connection improving the solidity of the connection between the base of the mortar and said plate.
  • the other embodiment shown in figures from 5 to 8 consists in adapting the barrel of the mortar on a base plate 18 supported by the chassis on which it is mounted floating, for example by an elastic connection suspension of the same type as previously, that is to say in the form of two transverse windings 16 and 17 and spiral of a metal cable whose turns are connected together by longitudinal support elements high 19 and low 20 secured respectively to the plate d 'base 18 of the mortar and two projecting structures 21 and 22 shaped in or attached to the bottom 23 of the chassis 7 of the carrier vehicle.
  • the windings 16 and 17 are preferably arranged transversely to the vehicle, one at the front, the other at the rear over the entire width of the vehicle.
  • the longitudinal support elements 19 and 20 are bars provided with transverse perforations through which the turns pass.
  • a particular elastic suspension assembly has thus been produced which has a very effective self-damping function which makes it possible to completely and quickly neutralize all the oscillatory effects generated by the shot.
  • the total surface of the bottom constituting the ground support but above all the elastic suspension with a very pronounced self-damping function is sufficient to withstand without damage the mechanical forces and the shock wave following the firing even under low incidence.
