Claims (8)

1. Device for holding a door in the opened position, which can be mounted for example on a motor vehicle and which comprises a toothed element (2) made fast with the leaf (B) of the door, characterized by another toothed element (1) made fast with the frame (D) of the door and which is likely to mesh with the toothed element (2) of the leaf, which toothed element is flexible in order to hold the leaf in the opened position according to the selected aperture angle.

Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the aforesaid toothed elements (1, 2) form two substantially parallel surfaces (7,13) provided with teeth (8, 14), a first surface (7) being fixed on the frame (D) according to a plane which is substantially vertical and parallel to the pivoting axis (X) of the leaf (B), and a second surface (13) being fixed on the leaf (B) substantially according to an arc of a circle surrounding said pivoting axis which is formed for example by hinges with vertical axis.
3. Device according to claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the toothed elements or surfaces (7, 13) are each made of an elastic material, e. g. an acetal resin as regards the surface which is fixed on the frame, and a polyamide as regards the surface which is fixed on the leaf.

Device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the relative position of both toothed surfaces respectively fixed on the frame and on the leaf is such that the number of meshing teeth (8, 14) and thus the holding torque become greater as the aperture angle of the leaf (B) becomes wider.
5. Device according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the toothed surfaces (7, 13) are fixed and stretched respectively on the frame and on the leaf by means of studs or similar (17) clipped into holes provided in this frame and in this leaf.
6. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the ends (15, 16) of the toothed surface (13) fixed on the leaf (B) are not toothed and present two turned-in flanges (15a, 16a) which form between each other an angle essentially equal to 90° after said surface has been fixed on said leaf.
7. Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that at least the fixing of the toothed surface (13) on the leaf (B) is adjustable in order to permit a preadjustment of the stretching or stressing thereof.
8. Device according to claim 6, characterized in that one (15) of said ends of the toothed surface fixed on the leaf is provided with at least one thrust (21) which co-operates with the frame in order to define a maximum aperture angle for the leaf.
