Claims (3)

1. A pipe wrench comprising
a handle (70) having two parallel, distantly arranged arms (71, 71') wherein an opening (72, 72') is formed in each arm, and said openings (72, 72') are axially aligned with respect to each other;
a body (30) pivotably mounted with respect to said arms (71, 71') and provided with a first, fixed jaw (35), wherein a guiding channel is formed within said body (30) for slidably receiving a rack bar (40) carrying a second jaw (42) ;
a pivotably mounted driving gear (50) meshing ° with said rack bar (40) ; and
a locking means optionally preventing a rotation between driving gear (50) and handle (70), characterized in. that a bore (32) is formed within said body (30), wherein said bore (32) is communicating with said guiding channel and is aligned with said openings (72, 72') in said arms (71, 71') ;
said driving gear (50) is located within a chamber defined by said bore (32) and said openings (72, 72') ; and
two locking means are provided each being formed as a ratched mechanism, wherein each opening (72, 72') being provided with internal teeth (721, 721') and detent members (61, 61') being inserted in said driving gear (50) for engaging with said internal teeth (721, 721') for preventing a one direction rotation of said driving gear (50) with respect to said handle (70).
2. The pipe wrench according to claim 1, wherein an axial slot (56) is extending over the whole axial length of the driving gear (50).
3. The pipe wrench according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said detent members (61, 61') having two detent surfaces (611, 612) and wherein a controlling member (63) will engage the one or other detent surface (611 or 612) with said internal teeth (721, 721') to prevent rotation of the driving gear (50) in one direction with respect to said handle (70).
