Abstract

When stacking filled containers which are closed by means of a lid, a safeguard against lateral displacement is particularly advantageous. If, for this purpose, bars are provided which grip around the lower edge of the container which is at the top in each case, various lid shapes result from the height of the containers in respect of the spacings of the bars. In the container (1) according to the invention, a lid 3 of identical design in each case can be used since it has two peripheral bars (4, 5) for adaptation to two different heights, the bars extending in parallel and parallel to the outer lid edge. The mutual spacings are selected such that the lower edge of the container (1) with the greater height is gripped by the bar (5) located on the inside, whereas a container (2) with a lower height is gripped in the lower region by the bar (4) located on the outside. To increase the stability, the bars (4, 5) are connected by a horizontally extending intermediate wall (6) located at the level of the centre of the bar (5). The upper free edge of the bars (4, 5) is offset in step form in such a way that the edge of the bar (4) located in a higher position has the smallest spacing from the lid edge (Figure 2). <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a container set consisting of a plurality of stacking containers of the same conicity, which expand conically towards the opening, and of lids for closing the opening which is the same for all stacking containers, the lids on the top sides being concentric with and at a distance from one another and concentrically with one another Have bridges running along the edge.

A stackable container is known from US Pat. No. 3,384,265, which is closed by an attached cover which has two upwardly directed webs which run concentrically to one another and concentrically to the edge. The outer webs encompass the outer lower edge of a container placed on the lid. The design of the lid makes it possible to stack several containers securely, but only if all containers are of the same height. In practice, especially in hospitals, however, containers of different heights but with the same taper are used. During the Interim storage in the hospital and in the course of disposal, the stacks are then formed from containers of different heights. A stack of containers of different heights cannot be found in the previously published publication, since the central handle of the lid makes it impossible to use the inner webs.

The present invention has for its object to design a container set of the type mentioned in a structurally simple manner so that the different height containers of the same conicity and the same opening width with the resulting different floor area can be stacked stable.

To solve the problem, the invention provides that the heights of the stacking containers are different in certain gradations and that the distances between the inner surfaces of the webs of the lid are designed so that the bottom edges of the stacking containers placed on the lid of the webs when the stacking containers are optionally stacked are encompassed. The lids of the stacking containers of the container set according to the invention have such a number of webs as containers of different heights are obtained. A specific web is assigned to each container size. It is advantageous that the same lid can be used for all containers.

According to a preferred embodiment, it is provided that the webs have a different height and are connected to one another by a horizontally arranged intermediate wall, since it is then ensured even with several webs that the stacked containers stand with their side walls on the horizontal intermediate wall. In practice, such containers are mostly referred to as barrels and are kept circular in cross-section. However, square, rectangular or polygonal cross sections are also conceivable. For such an embodiment, it is particularly advantageous if the webs and the outer edge of the cover, as seen in the projection, form concentric circles. Since containers are usually offered in two different sizes, a preferred embodiment of the lid is designed so that two webs running parallel and at a distance from the edge are provided.

In the stack shown in FIG. 1 as a partial view, several filled containers are placed one above the other, with only two containers 1, 2 being shown in an overall view for reasons of illustration. The height of the container 1 is twice that of the container 2, so that the capacity of the container 1 is twice or approximately twice as large. Each container is closed by a lid 3. The containers shown are those with a circular cross section. As the figure shows, the covers 3 and the openings of each container 1, 2 that are closed thereby have the same dimensions. In addition, the taper of the side walls is the same, so that the bottom of the container 1 is smaller in diameter than that of the container 2. From FIGS. 2 and 3, the support of the upper container 1 or 2 in the stack can be seen. 2 shows the support of the container 2, which is smaller in terms of its overall height, and FIG. 3 that of the larger container 1. The cover 3 is provided with two webs 4, 5 which are spaced apart and parallel to one another. The webs 4, 5 run parallel to the outer edge of the cover, the distance between the outer web 4 and the edge being approximately the same as the distance to the inner web 5. The webs 4, 5 are connected to one another by a horizontally lying intermediate wall 6, which based on the height of the web 5 is arranged centrally. The containers 1, 2 are provided with an annular base which lies below the side walls 7. The bottom 8 of each container jumps back towards the lid 3 or the opening relative to the standing surface. As a comparison of FIGS. 2 and 3 shows, the container 2, which is kept smaller in terms of its overall height, is encompassed by the outer web 4, while the container 5 with a greater overall height is encompassed by the web 5. The distance between the inner surfaces of the webs 4.5 is a function of the height of the container. As can also be seen from the figures, the height offset of the upper edge of the webs 4.5 ensures that the container terwandungen 7 are supported either on the horizontal partition 6 or on the lower lid parts. This creates zones of increased stress in the floor 8 caused by the weight of the container.

As shown in FIG. 4 in particular, the area lying within the web 5 is designed such that the middle area lies lower than the area adjacent to the web 5. The transition between these two parts becomes a sloping surface. A handle 9 is provided in the central area, the upper edge of which lies at or approximately at the level of the web 5. With such a design, the overall height of the lid is kept relatively low despite the handle 9 and, in addition, the space required for the stacked lid is small. To prevent the covers from sliding laterally, the edge of the cover is formed on its lower side, facing the bottom 8 in the upturned state, in relation to the upper edge, the free end being angled inwards to form a locking lug 10. When the lids 3 are stacked, this locking lug 10 encloses the upper edge of the lid. As can also be seen from FIG. 4, the upper lid edge is U-shaped to form a latching recess, seen in cross section, in such a way that the latching recess is open towards the bottom 8 of the container 1 or 2 when the lid is put on . The side walls delimiting the locking recess 11 are also provided with inwardly projecting, preferably rounded or triangular and circumferential locking webs 12, as can be seen particularly from FIGS. 2 and 3 and 5. These latching webs 12 and 20 can lie opposite one another on both sides of the latching recess 11 or the web 13 or can be asymmetrically offset from one another on both sides. As can also be seen from these figures, the upper edge of each container 1, 2 protrudes outwards from the side wall 7. This edge, also seen in cross section, is Y-shaped, but the vertical web 13 forms the upper boundary and the inner, inclined leg 14 lies in the extension of the side wall 7 and the outer also inclined leg 15 forms a locking leg which is engaged by the locking lug 10 of the cover 3. With such a design of the cover 3 and the container 1 or 2, not only can the respective cover be attached to the container in a particularly simple manner, but a firm connection between the container and the cover is achieved, which can only be achieved by one of the cover or container destructive intervention can be solved. This is absolutely necessary so that the stability of the stack formed from several containers is not endangered. This is also necessary, for example, to be able to pack and transport infectious or pathological hospital waste in a gastight and watertight manner. This type of connection is particularly advantageous for containers and lids made of plastic, due to the shape and material-resilient behavior of these materials.

As can be seen from FIG. 2, the cover is ribbed in the outer area to increase stability. Thus, 4 stiffening ribs 16 and 6 reinforcing ribs 17 are provided between the outer edge of the lid and the outer web. Furthermore, stacking ribs 18 are formed on the outside of the lid edge. These stacking ribs 18 also have the task of preventing the bending of the outer leg, which forms the edge of the lid, under load.

The above-described construction of the cover with the webs 4 and 5 and the stiffening ribs 16 and 17 has the effect that, when the closed container on the handle 9 is transported, the locking is reinforced by the circumferential locking lug 10 of the cover 3 with the containers 1, 2.

As can also be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3, a circumferential sealing lip 19 is provided underneath the inner wall of the lid 3 which delimits the latching recess 11 and abuts the inside of the leg 14 of the upper edge of the container. If the product is liquid, this prevents it from flowing out. The sealing can be further improved if on the outside sides of the vertical web 13 of the upper edge of the container projecting beads 20 are arranged on both sides, as shown in more detail in FIG. 5. The locking bars 12 of the locking recess 11 engage behind these beads. Furthermore, it is particularly advantageous if a sealing ring 21 is located between the base of the recess 11 and the upper side of the vertical web. The design of the connection of the cover 3 with the upper edge of the container 1 or 2 shown in the figure not only ensures that the cover 3 is firmly attached to the edge of the container, but that an absolute tightness is also achieved.
