Abstract

The invention concerns woven straps having transverse contractions, as well as a method and apparatus for their manufacture. Contractions are formed along straps having a continuous unchanging weave and continuous selvedge by altering spacing of warp yarns during weaving. The warp yarns are spaced by a V or fan shaped support which is vertically movable to cause corresponding width variations in the straps.

Description

The invention relates to straps with locally transverse constrictions arranged over variable lengths intended to ensure positioning of said straps in a fixing means such as a mooring loop.

These straps are obtained on shuttle looms, either by means of a change in texture occurring at the level of the narrowing, or by eliminating warp threads, or by exerting a tension force on the weft thread in order to ensure transverse approximation. warp threads, or again using special combs. One can for example quote the patent FR 1.395 815 which teaches the realization of a fabric with narrowing on a loom with shuttles, in particular for the execution of ties.

The straps obtained on the shuttle loom have irregularities in presentation, flexibility and thickness, particularly in the face of shrinkage. In addition, their cost price is high due to a low yield resulting from the low speed at which this type of profession works.

To overcome these drawbacks, it appeared necessary to produce woven straps with localized narrowing, on automatic sickle looms whose production rate is very high. It is known to produce, on this type of trade, straight straps, without shrinking, as is apparent from patent FR 1,249,099.

In order to be able to execute this kind of article on automatic sickle looms, it was necessary to solve important technical problems which did not arise in a shuttle loom. For example, it is essential to keep the distance between the end blade of the comb and the needle constant in order to obtain the continuity of formation of the chain in line with the straight edges of normal or reduced width, and flared connecting edges.

Such a problem does not exist in a shuttle loom where the comb is simply driven in a vertical reciprocating movement from bottom to top.

The present invention has set itself the aim, in a simple, efficient and rational manner, of making straps with transverse narrowing, on automatic sickle looms. The invention as characterized in the claims solves the problem of creating a strap which has identical weave, over their entire length, or possibly several weaves, with selvedges common to the rectilinear parts and narrowed parts, said selvedges being obtained on one side by a succession of chains formed by the working of the needle of the trade, with or without filler threads, whatever the system of tying the weft and on the opposite side by the simple return of the weft relative to the warp threads.

Advantageously, for the production of straps woven with narrowing, on an automatic sickle loom, a V-shaped comb is inclined relative to the axis of the leaf, such that the end blade of the comb forms an angle a relative to the axis of said leaf so that said blade always remains at a constant distance parallel to the selvedge formation needle during the displacement in height of the comb to allow the weaving of the narrowed parts and the connecting parts; the movement of the comb is controlled, on the one hand, with a weft-giving device to ensure the variation in running speed, taking into account the narrower width of the strap, and on the other hand, with a tension regulating device of the strap for its call and evacuation, taking into account the striking force of the leaf acting on a lesser width of the strap.

For the implementation of the method, the leaf of the sickle loom receives a vertical slide, fixed angularly, in an oblique manner being shaped to receive a movable slide intended for mounting a comb. with blades arranged symmetrically in the form of a V to obtain, depending on its height positioning, the variation in the spacing of the warp threads; the end blade of said comb being inclined along a plane parallel to the working plane of the needle used to form the chain stitches of the edge of the strap so as to obtain the continuity of the edge during the weaving of the narrowed parts; the displacement in height of the movable comb-carrying slide is ensured by a jack fixed on the leaf or on a fixed part of the loom; said piston being controlled according to a stroke determined by the pulses of a sensor arranged opposite the axis of the leaf or any other moving member; the weft donor device is controlled by a speed variator coupled to the comb control system; said device authorizing the slowing down of the linear speed of the weft distributor, when weaving narrowed widths or flares.

The advantages obtained thanks to this invention essentially lie in:
  • - the regularity of weaving, flexibility and thickness of the strap, in particular at the right of the narrowing,
  • -the speed of manufacture with one or more armor whatever the types of armor,
  • - the possibility of obtaining on the same loom, straps with narrowing of variable widths and progressive flares of variable lengths.

According to the invention, the automatic sickle loom is equipped for obtaining straps with localized transverse constrictions, a slide (1) fixed angularly on the base of the leaf (B) so as to occupy an inclined position, as illustrated in Figures 7 and 9 of the drawings.

De par sa section profilée, en queue d'aronde, la glissière (1) autorise le guidage à libre coulissement d'un coulisseau porte-peigne (2) en forme d'étrier dont la découpe trapézoïdale autorise le libre passage de la nappe des fils de chaînette (F) sollicités à la façon connue, par la faucille (3) d'amenée du fil de trame (T).By virtue of its profiled section, in dovetail, the slide (1) authorizes the free sliding guidance of a comb-carrying slide (2) in the shape of a stirrup whose trapezoidal cut-out allows the free passage of the web of warp threads (F) biased in the known manner, by the sickle (3) for feeding the weft thread (T).

The slide (2) allows the right of its opening, the facial attachment of a comb (4) whose blades (4a) are arranged symmetrically in a V shape, so as to obtain between said blades, a maximum spacing at the right of the large base, and on the contrary a minimum spacing to the right of the small base.

Therefore, it is understood that the displacement in height of the slide (2) makes it possible to distance or bring together the warp threads (F) to obtain either the normal width of the strap, or the reduced width with progressive flaring of connection of these two parts.

It is important to consider that the angular fixing in an inclined manner of the slide (1) and consequently of the slide (2) authorizes the rigorous positioning of the extreme blade (4b) of the comb (4) in a plane parallel to the plane movement of the movable needle (5) used to form the chain stitches of the edge of the strap. This characteristic makes it possible, during the stroke in height of the slide (2), to obtain on one side the continuity of formation of the chain at the right of the rectilinear selvedges of normal or reduced width and flared selvedges of connection.

It is also noted that the weft can be linked according to several known systems, in particular by the system with one or more filler wires, obtained by the use of the finger (13) inherent in the automatic sickle loom.

The means of displacement in height in both directions of the comb-carrying slide (2) is provided, for example, by means of a jack (6) fixed on the leaf (B) of the loom, or even on a fixed part, the piston of which is connected to said slide (2) either by pneumatic means or by mechanical means. The piston of said cylinder (6) is controlled automatically by means of each pulse from a sensor (7) arranged opposite a mobile member of the trade such as the wing (B), following a stroke of determined and adjustable length. . Therefore, the narrowing operation of the strap (S) is progressive so as to obtain at will, on the one hand, flares (Sa-Sb) of connection of variable lengths and, on the other hand, narrowed widths ( 1a-1b) of variable dimensions, taking into account the amplitude of the stroke of the comb (4). These arrangements are illustrated in Figures 2,3,4,5 and 6 where we see straps (S) of the same width (1) obtained directly on the sickle loom with narrowing zones and flares of variable dimensions. We also note, according to Figure 5, that the narrowed part (1c) of the strap (S) has a straight and continuous selvedge, made either on the chain stitch side, or on the real selvedge side.

It should also be noted that the pulses from the sensor (7) are transmitted to an electronic box (8) provided with counters, which distributes said necessary pulses, simultaneously by means of displacement in height of the comb, to a weft donor (10 ) and to a woven strap draft regulator as illustrated in figure 11.

The weft donor device is slaved to a speed variator (9) coupled to the control system (6) of the comb (4) via the electronic unit (8), to act on a weft distributor (10) . The weft donor (10) (T) thus automatically allows the proportional slowing down of the distribution during the weaving of the narrowed widths (1a-1b) and the flares (Sa Sb), to avoid the floating and the relaxation of the tension. This distributor (10) can be of any known type, such as close conical flanges, according to FIG. 11, or else of the semi positive type.

The tension regulator acting on the receiving roller (12) of the strap (S) is controlled by a speed variator (11) also coupled to the comb control system (4) via the electronic control unit. (8). This results in a greater proportional force during the weaving of the narrowed parts (1a-1b) and the flares (Sa-Sb), to compensate for the greater striking force of the leaf (B) since it is exerted on a narrower width .

It is obvious that the provisions may possibly apply to ribbons or other similar articles on any type of automatic loom.

It should also be considered that for the understanding of the drawings, the chain stitch side has been illustrated with a serrated edge effect, it being observed that in reality this edge gives a rectilinear effect like the edge on the real selvedge side.

The means for implementing the method in accordance with Claim 2, characterized in that the slay (B) of the sickle loom accommodates a vertical slideway (1) which is fixed angularly in a slanting manner and is conformed to receive a movable slideblock (2) intended for mounting a reed (4) with blades (4a) disposed symmetrically in the form of a V in order to obtain according to the vertical positioning thereof the variation of the spacing apart of the warp yarns, the extreme blade (4b) of said creed being slanted in accordance with a plane parallel to the working plane of the needle (5) serving for the purpose of forming the chain stitches of the selvedge of the strap so as to provide the continuity of the selvedge when weaving the shrinked portions, the vertical shifting of the movable slideblock (2) which supports the creed (4) being provided by a cylinder (6) secured to the slay (B) or to a fixed part of the loom, the piston of said cylinder being driven in accordance with a stroke rate which is determined by the impulses of a sensor (7) located in front of the axis of the slay (B) or any other moving organ, the weft distributing device (T) being controlled by a speed gearing device (9) coupled to the control system of the reed (4), said speed gearing device permitting the slowing down of the linear speed of the weft distributing device (T) when weaving the shrinked widths (1a-1 b) or the widened portions (Sa-Sb).
4. The means for implementing the method in accordance with Claim 2, characterized in that the regulating device for the tensioning of the strap (S), after the weaving, is controlled by a speed gearing device (11) coupled to the control system of the reed (4), said speed gearing device, owing to the variation of the speed, permitting the strap to be called and discharged (12) with a pulling effect when weaving the shrinked widths (1 a-1 b) or the widened portions (Sa-Sb).
5. The means of implementation in accordance with Claims 3 and 4, characterized in that the impulses of the sensor (7) are transmitted to an electronic casing (8) provided with meters which distributes said impulses simultaneously to the shifting device of the movable slideblock (2) which supports the reed (4), to the weft distributing device (T) and to the regulating device for the tensioning of the strap (S).
