Description

The subject of the present invention is a device for retaining an object on a piece of clothing, for example a wallet in a pocket, intended to be fixed to the object to be retained and comprising a rigid U-shaped jumper , provided with means for fixing to said object and on which are mounted, on the one hand, an elastic member, the end of which is intended to penetrate into the piece of clothing on which said object is disposed in the event of relative movement tending to separation of said object and piece of clothing, and on the other hand, a control means slidingly mounted on the jumper between two positions; said elastic member being directed obliquely from one wing to the other of the rider, in the direction of the bottom of this rider in a first position of the control means, and being separated from the opposite wing in the second position of the control means.

A security device for a wallet, of the aforementioned type, is described in patent FR-A-1 207 148. In this prior device, the elastic member consists of an arcuate leaf spring fixed by a rivet to one of the wings of the rider and whose end comes, by an edge, to rest at rest against the opposite wing of the rider. A slide makes it possible to straighten the spring against the wing on which it is fixed. The edge by which the spring rests on the fabric may cut or tear the fabric. Releasing the spring, which is done by rotation, can also have the effect of tearing the fabric.

There are also known needle devices (FR-A-462 520, US-A-3 273 619, DE-A-403 398), comprising a needle directed obliquely upward and retractable by means of a sliding member. In all of these embodiments, the needle in the working position is not covered and can injure the user when handling the wallet. In the devices according to US-A-3,273,619 and DE-A-403,398, the needle is released by gravity, which requires perfect cleanliness, difficult to maintain, to ensure the sliding of the sliding part.

The object of the invention is to provide a simpler device which is safe and harmless to use and does not damage the fabric.

In the device according to the invention, as characterized by claim, a single wire simultaneously constitutes the sliding member and the retaining member, in this case a point. The tip is removed by a combined translational and rotational movement, which allows the tip to be removed from the fabric without the risk of tearing it,

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, as defined in claim 5, the device can be put out of service by simple pressure on a cap located in the extension of the jumper. This cap can also be locked by rotation, the unlocking having to be done by bringing two profiles into coincidence, which can only be done visually.

The device shown essentially comprises a metal jumper 1 and a bent steel wire 2. The rider 1 is provided with two tabs 3 and 4 by which it is fixed by means of rivets on a plate 5 of semi-rigid plastic material provided with two elastic arms 6 and 7 cut from the plate 5 and whose ends 8 and 9 are angled outward.

The wing 1a of the rider 1 secured to the legs 3 and 4, has a first longitudinal cut 10 of rectangular shape extending over approximately 1/3 of the length of the rider, in the middle part thereof and of very wide slightly greater than the diameter of the wire 2. Parallel to this cut 10 extends a second cut 11, from the bottom 1b of the jumper almost to its end. This cutout 11, of the same width as the cutout 10 has a part extending parallel to the cutout 10 along the length thereof, followed by an oblique part 11a connecting the first part to a part 11b located in the extension of the cutout 10, this part 11b being connected by an oblique part 11c to an end part 11d situated in the extension of the first part 11. The parts 11b, 11c and 11d define a finger 12, while the bottom of the part 11d forms a stop 13 (Figure 5). The other end of the cutout 11 opens into a rectangular cutout 14 formed in the bottom 11b of the jumper (Figure 6). This cutout 14 has a lug 15 whose role will be explained below.

The steel wire 2 mounted on the jumper 1 has a first part 2a bent in a pin intended to be introduced into a cylindrical cap 16 in a cavity from which it is retained by the elbow 2b which forms an approximately triangular loop. The lower end of the cap 16 can further abut against the bent end 2c. Below the cap 16, the wire has a first oblique part 2d which surrounds the finger 12 by a part folded in a U 2e, thus passing to the outside of the jumper 1 by a part 2f, this part 2f being followed by an oblique rectilinear part 2g crossing the cutout 10 and the end of which constitutes a point 17. In the normal working position, this point 17 is directed in direction of the wing 1c of the rider and is near a bend 18 serving as a stop limiting the bending of the wire 2, as will be described later.

It has a lower part of reduced diameter forming a circular surface 21 interrupted by an external longitudinal groove 18 of width slightly greater than the width of the lug 15 and extending over the upper part of the cap. When this groove 18 is opposite the lug 15, as shown in FIG. 2, the upper part of the cap can pass freely through the cutout 14. In any other angular position, the cap 16 abuts by its bearing 21 against the edge 20 of the cutout 14 opposite the lug 15 (Fig. 2). The edge 20 is slightly below the part 1b of the rider so that at rest the upper part of the cap 16 is slightly engaged in the cutout 14. The cap 16 is then held laterally between the wing 1a of the rider, by its lower part, and the lug 15.

The device is attached to the portfolio as shown in Figure 10. The only feature that the portfolio must have is a loop 19 of width corresponding to the width of the plate 5, not including the ends 8 and 9 and of length corresponding to this plate . To fix the device, it suffices to introduce the plate 5 into the passer-by 19 by bending the arms 6 and 7. Once these arms have passed through the passer-by 19, the plate comes to hang on the wallet by its bent ends 8 and 9. This assembly can be performed in a jiffy by the user.

Le fonctionnement du dispositif est le suivant:The operation of the device is as follows:

The cap 16 being placed in any locked position, the wallet is introduced into the pocket in such a way that the jumper 1 comes to be placed on either side of the pocket. During this introduction, the tip 17 slides on the fabric, bending and without damaging the fabric. If the wallet moves outward relative to the pocket, whether during an attempted theft or accidentally, the tip 17 then enters the fabric by retaining the wallet. If the traction on the wallet persists, the point 17 crosses the fabric and abuts against the elbow 18 of the rider which limits the bending of the wire and fixes a locking of the device on the garment.

When the holder of the wallet wishes to withdraw his wallet, he only has to turn the cap 16 to bring the groove 18 in front of the lug which allows the cap to be moved away from the edge 20 and to exert an axial pressure on the cap as indicated by the arrow F, FIG. 2. During this axial movement, the part 2g of the wire 2 abuts against the lower end of the cutout 10, which has the effect of bending the part 2g of the wire and move it away from the rider's wing 1c, this in a combined movement of translation and rotation which makes it possible to extract the point 17 from the fabric without tearing or damaging it. In its movement the wire is further guided on the finger 12 by its coiled part 2e. When the pressure is released on the cap 16, the latter automatically returns back because the 2g part of the wire tends to return to its initial position while still pressing on the end of the cutout 10 which generates a tending reaction push the wire up.

The upper part of the cutout which opens into the cutout 4 is used for mounting the wire 2 on the jumper 1. To this end, the part 2a of the wire is passed through the cutout 11 before threading the cap 6 onto this part 2a.

The device can be attached to any object likely to be put in a pocket of clothing such as wallet, notebook, wallet, pen, radio receiver etc. Its rider can be attached to any part of a garment capable of receiving it, such as a revolver pocket, belt, etc. The device can also be used to hold a piece of clothing on another piece of clothing, for example a woman's skirt on a belt to prevent the skirt from rising above the belt, or vice versa by fixing the device to the belt. The rider could of course be permanently fixed to the object by any other means.

The invention is of course capable of numerous variants without departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the claims.

Device for retaining an article on an item of clothing, for example retaining a billfold in a pocket, the device being intended to be attached to the article to be retained and comprising a rigid U-shaped staple (1) provided with means for attachment (5) to the said article, on which staple are mounted, on the one hand, a resilient member the end of which is intended to penetrate into the item of clothing on which the said article in located, in case of relative movement tending to separate the said article from the said item of clothing, and on the other hand, a control means mounted to slide on the staple between two positions, the said resilient member being aligned obliquely, from one wing of the staple to the other (1 c), towards the base of this staple, in a first position of the control means, and being moved away from the opposite wing (1c) in the second position of the control means, characterized by the fact that the said control means and the said resilient means are formed by a single piece comprising a resilient bent and pointed metal wire (2), the part of the wire possessing the spike (17) passing obliquely through one (1 a) of the wings of the staple through a cut-out (10) so as to reach at least approximately, the opposite wing (1 c) in the first position of the control means, and to move away from the opposite wing (1 c) flexing and bearing on one end of the cut-out (10), in the second position of the control means in a manner such that the spike moves away from the opposite wing, performing a combined translatory and rotatory movement.
2. Device as claimed in claim 1, characterized by the fact that the said opposite wing (1 c) of the staple possesses a stop (18) restricting the flexion of the spike (17) towards the end of the wing.
3. Device as claimed in claim 2, characterized by the fact that the stop is formed by an angled part (18) of the wing.
4. Device as claimed in one of claims 1, 2 and 3, characterized by the fact that the part of the wire forming the control means passes through the base of the staple via an aperture (14) and is provided with a cap (16) held axially on the wire but free to rotate and capable of being locked axially by rotation, on the staple.
5. Device as claimed in claim 4, characterized by the fact that the cap (16) is cylindrical and possesses two parts of different diameters defining a bearing (21) intended to abut axially against the edge (20) of the aperture (14) of the base of the staple, this bearing being interrupted by a groove (18) parallel to the axis and provided on the part of large diameter, so as to define the profile to which corresponds a profile of the aperture (14) of the staple, so that the bringing into alignment of the profiles permits the said bearing to pass through the said aperture and hence permitting the movement of the wire.
6. Device as claimed in one of the claims 1 to 5, characterized by the fact that the wing (1a) of the staple supporting the pointed part (2g) of the metal wire possesses a second cut-out (11) extending from the base of the staple to approximately the end of the wing and having a part parallel to the first cut-out followed by an oblique part (11a), a part (11b) aligned with the first cut-out a transverse part (11c), and a part (11d) aligned with the said parallel part so as to form a notch (13) in the wing of the staple, and wherein the bent metal wire, from the manipulating means, passes between the wings of the staple, then passes through the second cut-out via the said notch, before passing back through the wing of the staple by the first cutout (10).
7. Device as claimed in claim 6, characterized by the fact that the metal wire forms a loop (2e) around the finger (12) formed between the notch and the part of the second cut-out which is parallel to the notch.
8. Device as claimed in one of claims 1 to 7, characterized by the fact that the staple is attached to a semi-rigid plate (5) extending laterally wherein are cut-out two resilient arms (6, 7) whose ends are angled outwards in a manner such as to permit the plate to be introduced into a loop (19) of the article to be retained and to be engaged by the angled ends (8, 9).
