Description

The present invention relates to a device intended to allow the metering and dispensing, repeatedly, of any pulverulent product to be packaged in a container with a single or multiple load.

The invention relates, more particularly, to a metering-dispensing device capable of fulfilling the above function in a packaging machine with repetitive automatic operation, that is to say designed to ensure automatic loading, in large series, of containers presented successively at at least one loading station.

The object of the invention relates, more particularly, to the technical field of packaging powders inside cases or sockets intended to form cartridges of an explosive nature.

To assume the above function, a number of devices have already been proposed which, in general, involve a principle of overfilling consisting in pouring into the container a load of powdered product greater than the useful volume offered. Such an operation is then followed by leveling off the excess quantity, in order to limit the product load on the plane passing through the open upper orifice.

Such a procedure is not satisfactory, since it leads to serious pollution of the environment with the leveled surplus product which it is difficult to automatically recover completely.

In an attempt to remedy this drawback, it has been proposed, as in US Pat. No. 3,179,304, to dose the product beforehand, in particular by means of a drawer doser comprising one or more capacities put in relation with a means of filling. The drawer (s) are moved relatively with respect to a gauge intended to equalize the loading of the useful volume and to eliminate the excess pulverulent product. The loaded drawer is then poured into the container.

Such a device does not make it possible to provide a constant service, since the metered product is subjected, during the passage through the template, to a compression stress introducing dosage variations which are all the more important the lower the initial dose.

Furthermore, the forced introduction of the filled drawer into the template may be responsible for the compression, friction or elevation in temperature of particles constrained between the relatively sliding walls. This may result in a risk of ignition or sudden explosion in the case of dosing-distribution of flammable or explosive powder.

Another drawback of the above solution lies in the fact that the pulverulent products frequently have an aggressive character which causes wear on the drawer and / or the template. Thus, over time, the metering carried out is no longer reliable and can be the cause of serious drawbacks when it is a question of carrying out the loading of any volume with several pulverulent products which have to be metered relatively precisely.

It has also been proposed to make a dispenser from a spoon filled by penetration into a reserve of products then leveled by a bar resting on its upper edge. The dosing function is thus correctly ensured but, on the other hand, the dispensing function remains to be performed properly.

The technical solutions known to date are all responsible for a random retention on their walls of particles of pulverulent products. This results, then, in a completely random manner, the distribution of charges lower or greater than that initially sought, depending on whether the walls retain particles of the distributed charges or, on the contrary, deliver abruptly, as a result of a vibration or a shock, the different particles retained during previous operating cycles.

Another drawback of the currently known technical solutions lies in the fact that the proposed devices do not make it possible to oppose the risks of propagation of the fire in the event of ignition or sudden explosion, at any level of the transfer chain.

-Des accidents particulièrement graves sont donc à craindre, dans le cas où une telle propagation a pour résultat de provoquer l'inflammation ou l'explosion de la capacité de stockage du produit pulvérulent.- Particularly serious accidents are therefore to be feared, in the event that such a propagation results in the ignition or explosion of the storage capacity of the pulverulent product.

It has also been proposed to produce a spoon-type dispenser filled from a feed hopper and which is moved to a dumping station where it is returned above a funnel. This is the case of patent GB-A-13 509 see the preamble of claim 1. Such a design makes it possible to measure the charge of product transferred by passing the spoon under a leveling bar. However, this design absolutely does not make it possible to oppose the risks of propagation of the fire in the event of ignition of the pulverulent product, either during storage, or during transfer, or during emptying.

The invention aims to remedy the various drawbacks above by proposing a new metering-dispensing device which can be used for any pulverulent product, but offering safety and security characteristics which are particularly suitable for the transfer of pulverulent products having a flammable nature. or explosive.

An additional object of the invention is to provide a new metering and dispensing device whose particular design is chosen to relatively isolate the various storage, metering, distribution and / or transfer volumes, in order to offer means capable of object to the spread of a fire or explosion, if applicable unexpectedly occurring at any one of the stages of transfer of the powdered product, whether metered or not.

Another object of the invention is to propose a new metering and dispensing device constituting a compact unit which can be easily adapted or dismantled from a work station of a transfer machine when it is necessary to adapt, on the latter, a device whose dosing and distribution characteristics must be related to the useful volume offered by the container to be loaded.

1.Fig. 7 is a partial cross-section taken, on a larger scale, along the line VII-VII of FIG. 1.

The metering-dispensing device for powdery product comprises a support and fixing body 1 intended to be adapted, by any suitable means, to the plate 2 of a work station provided for filling, filling, loading of a container, such as 3.

Fig. 1 shows, to facilitate understanding of the following, an example of application in which the container 3 is constituted by a case or a socket intended to receive one or more charges of pulverulent product whose subsequent final packaging is completed by laying a cover, not illustrated in the drawings. The container 3 can be, for example, carried by a transfer device 4 forming part of the movable member 5 of a transfer machine with automatic operation.

The support and fixing body 1 is preferably constituted by two half-bodies 1a and 1b (FIG. 2) which are assembled side by side by means of screws 6. Any other embodiment could be envisaged and , in particular, it could be chosen to make the body 1 in one piece by molding or casting.

Le conduit de vidange 9 est obturé, en état de fonctionnement, par un bouchon 10.The body 1 is made to delimit, from the open upper surface, a filling chamber 7 and an emptying chamber 8. The filling chamber 7 has a generally cylindrical conformation of horizontal axis, the section of this chamber possibly having , as shown in fig. 2, a gradual axial reduction towards the periphery. The filling chamber 7 communicates with a drain pipe 9 being established between the bottom of the chamber and the base of the body 1. The drain pipe 9 is closed, in operating condition, by a plug 10.

The filling chamber 7 is in relation to an intercommunication conduit 11, in a tangential direction, rising from the chamber 7 to the lower part of a base 12 removably attached to the upper part of the body 1. The base 12 defines a cavity 13 in the form of a truncated cone or inverted pyramid trunk whose small base is placed substantially in the plane of the open upper edge. The base 12 is reserved for the adaptation of a hopper 14 for supplying the chamber 7 with powdery product. The hopper 14 has a flange 15 which is established in the plane of the small open base, the cross section of which is smaller, for reasons which appear below, than that of the large base of the cavity 13. The hopper 14 is associated to a level detector 16 comprising a balance 17 provided with a pallet 18 inside the hopper 14. The balance 17 is pivotally mounted on a hinge pin 19 which is carried by the hopper 14. The balance 17 is extended beyond the axis 19 and carries a balancing counterweight 20. The axis 19 is preferably carried by a support 21 adapted on the hopper 14 and designed to allow the mounting of a contactor 22 capable of be actuated by the balance 17 and, in this case, more particularly, by the counterweight 20. The hopper 14 is preferably also associated with a stirring member 14a whose intermittent rotation makes it possible to oppose the effect of possible vault of the pulverulent product.

The emptying chamber 8 has a conformation of the inverted trunk-pyramidal type. This chamber is delimited, so as to form with the chamber 7 a directional alignment perpendicular to the geometric axis of the chamber 7. The emptying chamber 8 has, between its inclined faces, a small inclination angle, so that the latter constitute smooth surfaces of abrupt character close to vertical, for reasons that appear in the following. The chambers 7 and 8 are thus separated from each other by an edge 1, formed by the material constituting the body 1 and rising above a fictitious horizontal plane which would pass through the bottom of the filling 7.

The body 1 supports a rotary dispenser, of the spoon type, designated as a whole by the reference 23. The rotary doser comprises a carriage 24 (fig. 3 and 4) which is mounted and guided with impossibility of rotation on a slide 25 attached outside the body 1. The carriage 24 supports, at its upper part, a jack 26 of the rotary type with two directions of rotation whose angular range of rotation can be limited. The output shaft 27 of the jack 26 carries a hub 28 on which can be fixed, in a removable manner, the arm 29 of a metering spoon 30. The shaft 27 passes through a clearance 31 presented by the corresponding wall of the body 1 The shaft 27 thus extends inside the chamber 7, preferably being coincident with the geometrical axis of the latter, in a corresponding stable stop position, as illustrated in FIG. 1, in a filling state.

The arm 29 is mounted on the shaft 27 so as to be located, preferably, in the median plane of the chamber 7. The length of the arm 29 is determined, so that the spoon 30 is not brought into contact with the peripheral wall defining the chamber 7.

The hub 28 and the actuator 26 are chosen so that, in the stable stop position of the latter, the spoon 30 is arranged in a substantially vertical orientation, below a leveling device 32 carried by the body 1 to extend inside the chamber 7. The device 32 comprises a bar 33 which is held by a clamp 34, so as to have a horizontal lower edge facing the upper open section of the spoon 30 ,

The clamp 34 is fixed to the upper part of a rod 34a guided outside the body 1 in a slide 34b for clamping and axial immobilization. The slide 34b is supported by its base on a button 34c extended by a screw 34d screwed into the body 1.

Ce réglage est ensuite maintenu de façon stable et précise par resserrage de la glissière 34b.After tightening of the slide 34b, the operation of the button 34c makes it possible to modify the vertical position of the bar 33 and to adjust the latter to the leveling plane. This setting is then maintained stably and precisely by tightening the slide 34b.

The carriage 24 is connected by an end plate 35 to the rod 36 of a jack 37, mounted by a nose flange 38 on the body 1, to extend outwardly to the latter and parallel to the slide 25. The cylinder 37 is associated with two adjustable limit switches 39 and 40, determining the useful stroke of extension-retraction of the rod 36 and, consequently, the reciprocating displacement imposed on the axis 27. This stroke is determined in relation with the length of the clearance 31 formed in the body 1 from the chamber 7 to extend, at least in part also, into the emptying chamber 8.

The body 1 supports, at its lower part, an alternative mobile distributor 41 responsible for ensuring the transfer between the emptying chamber 8 and a filling funnel 42 carried, directly or indirectly, by the body 1 or its support member. Preferably, the funnel 42 is associated with a vertical movement control back and forth, in order to be able to be brought into sealed support on the upper part of the station containing 3. The distributor 41 can be placed in direct relation with the small base. open lower part of the chamber 8 or with that of a transfer adapter 43 attached under the lower face of the body 1. The adapter 43 delimits a passage 44 of generally frustoconical inverted shape, establishing the flow transition by gravity between the chamber 8 and the distributor. The passage 44 has a large base with a larger cross section than that of the lower open chamber 8.

The dispenser 41 comprises a console 45 suspended from the lower part of the body 1 for fixing and guiding the movable constituent elements of the dispenser 41. To this end, the console 45 comprises a crosspiece 46 supporting (fig. 5) the nose of a cylinder 47 of the double-acting type. The piston rod 48 of the actuator 47 carries a carriage 49 guided by cylindrical rods 50 in rings 51 of the cross member 46. The ends of the rods directed towards the body of the actuator 47 carry stops 50a intended to cooperate with the cross member 46. The carriage 49 carries, opposite the cylinder 47, a bucket 52 defining a receiving capacity 53 of a load of powdery product. The capacity 53 is limited by two vertical walls, an inclined wall and by a pivoting flap 54 defining the front wall of the bucket, in consideration of the direction of movement corresponding to the filling of a container 3. The flap 54 is pivotally mounted by an axis horizontal 55 (fig. 7) on the upper part of the cup 52. The flap 54 is associated with a mechanism 56 for automatic opening and closing control. The mechanism 56 comprises, as appears in FIG. 6, a rod 57 mounted in guides 58 carried respectively by the body 1 and the console 45. The rod 57 is associated with a stop 59 intended to cause a positive opening command, as will appear in the following. The rod 57 is also associated with an elastic member 60, for example of the helical type, working under compression, threaded concentrically on the rod to be placed between one of the guides 58 and, for example, an abutment shoulder presented by the rod.

The carriage 49 includes a cover 61 extending in the direction of the console 45, so as to cover the guide rods 50 and the piston rod 48 when the bucket 52 is brought into a load-shedding position in relation to the transfer funnel 42.

The device described above operates from the next way.

In a state of rest corresponding to the start of the operating cycle, it can be considered that the jack 47 has brought the bucket 52 into a loading position in which the capacity 53 is located directly above the emptying chamber 8.

In this position, the stop 59 is moved back relative to the guide 58, so that the spring 60 biases the rod in the direction of the arrow f 1 ′ causing the flap 54 to pivot in the closed position of the capacity 53.

The cylinder 37a, moreover, was supplied to cause the extension of the piston rod 36 bringing the carriage 24 into the position where the spoon 30 is placed in relation to the volume of the chamber 8. As appears in phantom lines fig. 1, the rotary actuator 26 has been supplied so that, by rotation of the shaft 27, the open section of the spoon 30 is directed towards the small base of the emptying chamber 8.

The operation of the device implies that it is loaded with pulverulent product introduced into the feed hopper 14 which ensures, by gravity, via the base 12 and the intercommunication conduit 11, the filling of the chamber 7.

An operating cycle of the metering-dispensing device is established as follows.

The jack 37 is supplied to cause the retraction stroke of the rod 36 bringing the carriage 24 into the position where the axis 27 of the rotary jack 26 is placed in coincidence with the geometric axis of the chamber 7.

1).This position can be determined by means of the contactor 40 also controlling, for example, the subsequent operation of the rotary actuator 26 supplied to cause the rotation of the shaft 27 in the direction of the arrow f 2 (fig. 1).

1.The spoon 30 is thus brought to traverse an angular path inside the chamber 7 which has the effect of ensuring its natural filling by relative displacement relative to the pulverulent material filling the chamber 7. The rotation of the shaft 27 is controlled by the actuator 26 until the spoon 30 is brought into the position shown in solid lines in FIG. 1.

3.In this state, the supply to the jack 37 is reversed, so as to control the extension stroke of the piston rod 36 causing the carriage 24 to move in the direction of the arrow f 3 in FIG. 3.

The spoon 30 is brought back into the volume of the emptying chamber 8, while occupying, inside the latter, the same position as that imparted inside the chamber 7.

During this movement in the direction of the arrow f 3 , the upper orifice of the spoon 30 passes under the bar 33 which realizes a leveling without compression of the dose of pulverulent product taken up by the spoon 30. This dose of product is thus strictly limited to the useful volume offered and filled with the spoon 30. In addition, the fraction of excess product is poured onto the mass of product occupying the chamber 7 and does not lead to any pollution of the environment.

At the end of the extension stroke, the part 35 controls the contactor 39 responsible for reversing the supply of the rotary actuator 26. The shaft 27 is thus rotated in the opposite direction to that of the arrow f 2 and brings the spoon 30 in the original position shown in phantom in FIG. 1. This movement of reverse angular displacement of the spoon 30 causes the emptying of the dose of powdered product inside the chamber 8 where this dose can flow by gravity, in a substantially direct manner, taking into account the geometric conformation conferred on chamber 8. It should be noted that the inclined walls of chamber 8 are precisely defined so as to reduce as much as possible any retention of particles of pulverulent product, while driving the dose delivered and emptied in the direction of receiving capacity 53 of bucket 52.

1.The dose of product is received in the closed capacity 53 and can be maintained in the latter as long as the general operating cycle, subject to the presentation of a container 3 in the desired loading or filling position, has not been triggered by validating this presence. When the progress of the second part of the cycle is authorized, the jack 47 is supplied with power to cause the extension stroke of the rod 48 leading the bucket 52, from its loading position, to the load shedding position in which it is, at less in part, engaged directly above the funnel 42, as shown in FIG. 1.

The extension stroke of the rod 48, in the direction of the arrow f 4 , results in the supply of the partition 61 opposite the outlet orifice of the chamber 8 or of the passage 44. This partition protects the slides 50 and the rod 48 against any fall of one or more particles of pulverulent material.

Ceci a pour effet de libérer la dose de produit pulvérulent qui est ainsi délestée dans l'entonnoir 42 la conduisant à l'intérieur du contenant 3.Towards the end of the rod extension stroke 48, the stop 59 comes into contact with the guide 58 and opposes the free sliding of the rod 57. The continued movement of the bucket 52, in the direction of the arrow f 4 (fig. 1), then causes the automatic positive opening of the pivoting flap 54 when the bucket 52 is engaged in the funnel 42 so that the capacity outlet orifice 53 is located inside the envelope internal of the latter. This has the effect of releasing the dose of pulverulent product which is thus relieved in the funnel 42 leading it inside the container 3.

It should be noted that the shedding of the dose of product occupying the capacity 53 also occurs by the shock action resulting from the coming into contact of the stop 59 with the guide 58, shock action transmitted by the structure. constitutive of the distributor 41 up to the cup 52. This load shedding is also established in a second step by the coming into contact of the stops 50a with the console 46 producing a shock wave favoring the separation of the particles from the walls.

The unloading of the dose of pulverulent product is carried out in full as a result of the conformation of the capacity 53 delimited by vertical or strongly inclined surfaces which are, moreover executed so as to present a polished surface state, as well as the constituent walls of chamber 8 and passage 44.

La butée 59 quitte le guide 58, de sorte que le ressort 60 commande le retour en position automatique fermée du volet 54.At the end of the extension stroke of the rod 48, the carriage 49 can actuate, by a finger 62, a limit switch 63 responsible for reversing the power supply to the jack 47. The rod 48 performs its stroke of retraction by driving, in the opposite direction to that of arrow f 4 , the bucket 42 towards the original position directly above the emptying chamber 8. The stop 59 leaves the guide 58, so that the spring 60 controls the return to the automatic closed position of the flap 54.

The return to the original position of the distributor 41 can be observed by an end-of-travel switch 64 actuated by the finger 62 to authorize the running of an operating cycle identical to that described above.

As is apparent from the above, the metering-dispensing device according to the invention represents a compact assembly which can be easily mounted or dismounted on a work station by adaptation on a plate or plate 2, in order to extend into the door -overhang and overhanging a work or transfer area along which there are successive containers 3 to receive the same dose of powdered product.

En effet, l'arête 11 présente une conformation choisie pour éviter qu'une rétention éventuelle de produit pulvérulent vers la base de la chambre 8 puisse être la propagation d'une inflammation ou d'une explosion se propageant à la charge de produit pulvérulent occupant la chambre 7.Furthermore, the device is designed in such a way that the various capacities, chambers or cavities for receiving or temporarily storing a dose of products are sufficiently isolated from each other during the operating cycle, to avoid any propagation of fire or 'explosion. Indeed, the edge 1 1 has a conformation chosen to avoid that a possible retention of powdered product towards the base of the chamber 8 can be the propagation of an inflammation or an explosion propagating to the load of powdery product. occupying room 7.

The cover 61 assumes a firewall function in the load shedding position of the bucket 52 and is opposed to any upward propagation from the funnel 42 towards the chamber 7.

The shutter 54 also assumes the same function of firewall in the direction of the dose of powder poured into the capacity 53 placed directly above the chamber 8.

The operation of the metering-dispensing device can be repeated automatically, as long as the hopper 14 contains a quantity of pulverulent product sufficient to ensure the automatic supply of the chamber 7. As soon as this quantity drops below a value determined by the setting of the detector 16, the contactor 22 ensures the operation of a reminder lamp for manual reloading of the hopper 14 or of an automatic make-up circuit.

Fig. 7 shows a detector for the passage of powdery product at the base of the chamber 8. This detector comprises a pendulum 65, mounted on an axis 66 carried by the body 1. The pendulum comprises a pallet 67 at its end permanently placed in the chamber 8 after passing through a window 71 formed in the wall of the body 1. The end of the balance opposite the pallet can be provided with a balancing counterweight 68. This end cooperates with a passage detector 69, of any suitable type , mounted in a housing 70 sealingly attached to the body 1. In the case of application to an explosive powder, the detector 69 is constituted by a fluid system emitting a jet of pressurized fluid towards a sensor facing which is placed the end of the balance in a stable state, as illustrated in strong lines.

The operation of the detector 69 makes it possible to consider that the spoon 30 has indeed delivered a dose of product. On the contrary, the absence of a functional finding in a given time interval provides an indication of a malfunction of the metering device 23.
