Abstract

Partly overlapping sheets of a scalloped stream of sheets are transported against one side of a flexible band which is being convoluted onto a first core so that the sheets form convolutions which alternate with the convolutions of the band. The latter is drawn off a second core which is coaxial with the first core, and such band is trained over a set of pulleys which cause it to advance substantially tangentially of and between the axial ends of the first core. The two cores can be driven and braked independently of one another and are mounted in a common frame. The second core is driven by a shaft which rotatably mounts the first core.

Description

The present invention relates to a device according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

A device of this type is described in GB-A 2106872 (= DE-A-3231427). In this device, the tape supply roll is offset axially parallel and transversely to the axis of rotation of the winding core. The winding core receiving the newspapers is designed like the round cassette of a measuring tape, in which the winding tape is wound up and supplied when not in use. For the preparation of the winding process, part of the winding tape is wound up into a tape supply roll or withdrawn from the cassette, as much as is necessary for the production of the roll. For the winding of the newspapers, the rest of the winding tape remaining in the winding core is held in place, the cassette is rotated and the newspapers are guided into the inlet gap between the winding tape and winding core, whereupon they are wound up on the rotating winding core together with the winding tape. On this known device, the axially parallel spacing of the tape supply roll from the winding core means that it takes up space, which can be disadvantageous both in stationary and in transportable embodiments. Another disadvantage is that at an unwinding station, after unwinding the newspapers from the winding core, the winding tape wound up to the tape supply reel must first be rewound into the winding core and supplied therein before it is removed from the folding bearings and a new reel is used to unwind additional newspapers can be. The same disadvantage exists at a winding station before the newspapers are wound up, in that first the winding tape (before the winding process can even be started) has to be pulled out of the winding core and wound up to the tape supply roll 5.

Also known from DE-A-3221153 is a winding device for printed sheets, in which the tape supply roll is spaced axially parallel from the winding core, which necessarily brings about the aforementioned disadvantage of a space-consuming construction. However, it does not have the disadvantage of additional measures before a winding process.

The present invention therefore has as its object to provide a winding device of the type mentioned at the outset, which can be made more space-saving and in which the provision of the winding core or the winding for winding or unwinding does not require any additional operations.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing feature of claim 1.

When using a transportable device according to the invention, a minimum of fixed installations such as drive couplings and the like are necessary, and clean winding and unwinding of the newspapers is ensured if the newspaper production system is equipped with a vertically pivotable rocker equipped with a conveyor belt which ends in the area of the device. It should be provided that the rocker can be adjusted against the winding core or the winding formed on it, and that the rocker cuts the path of the belt between the last deflection roller and the winding core or the winding in each pivoting position.

In Fig. 1, reference numeral 1 denotes the connection point to an intermediate store of a plant for the production of newspapers. A conveyor belt 3 runs between two cheeks 2 spaced apart from one another, which is used for the delivery or removal of imprinted printed sheets 4 one above the other. On the axles 5 which carry the deflection rollers at the end of the conveyor belt 3 and are firmly connected to the cheeks 2, a rocker 6 is articulated in a vertically pivotable manner, along which an endless conveyor belt 8 is guided and driven at the same speed as the conveyor belt 3 and forms a continuation thereof .

The device according to the invention has two parallel cheeks 9 which are firmly connected to one another to form a stand 10. At the upper end of the stand 10, a shaft 11 is rotatably mounted, on which a tape supply roll core 12 is fixed. A holding band 13 wound on the core 12 forms a band supply roll 14 with the latter. The holding band 13 is guided centrally over a plurality of deflecting rolls 15 and 16 onto a winding core 17 and fastened there with the preceding end. The winding core 17 is freely rotatably mounted on the shaft 11 and is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to a gear 18 on the side facing away from the tape supply roll 14. A second gear wheel 18 'is connected to the shaft 11 in a rotationally fixed manner, the gear wheels 18 and 18' forming drive elements for the individual drive of the winding core 17 and the tape supply roll 14.

An axis 19 is fastened between the cheeks 2, to which a lever 20 is articulated and can be pivoted vertically by means of a cylinder piston unit 20 '. At different distances from the axis 19, two sprockets 21 and 22 are mounted on the lever 20, each of which corresponds to a sprocket 23, 24 at the front end of the lever. Chains 25 and 26 are guided over the corresponding sprocket pairs 21, 24 and 22, 23, the sprocket 21 being driven by a drive and brake motor 27 and the sprocket 22 by a drive and brake motor 28. At the front end of the lever 20, the sprocket 23 is rotatably mounted on a shaft 29 together with a gear 30 set, the gear 30 meshes with a gear 18 in the illustrated state. A hollow shaft 31 is also freely rotatably supported on the shaft 29, with which the chain gear 24 and a further gear 32 are connected in a rotationally fixed manner, the latter meshing with the gear 18 'in the position shown. By lifting and lowering the lever 20 by means of the cylinder-piston unit 20 ', the tape supply roll 14 and the winding core 17 can thus be individually driven by the corresponding motor 27 or 28, whereby driving means generating and controlling a prescribed movement.

The device described works as follows: The outer end of the winding tape 13 is attached to the winding core 17 and the device is brought into the position shown in the drawing. Then the cylinder-piston unit 7 and 20 'are acted upon and the rocker 6 or the lever 20 is positioned tangentially on the winding core 17 or on the gear wheels 18 and 18'. The conveyor belts 2 and 8 are then driven in the direction counter to the winding core 17 and the winding core 17 in FIG. 1 counterclockwise, and the incoming scale stream from printing sheet 4 is fed to the winding core 17. The running speeds of the conveyor belts 3 and 8 and the holding belt 13 are the same. The conveyor belt 8 cuts the path of the holding belt 13 between the last deflection roller 15 and the winding 33. The motor 28, which is speed-controlled or controlled as a function of the speed of the belts 3, 8, drives the winding core 17 via the sprocket wheel 22 and the gear wheel 30 at a constant peripheral speed which pulls the tape 33 from the tape supply roll and winds it up. The printed sheets 4 impinging on the tape 13 are deflected by the latter onto the winding core 17 and wound up thereon in a manner known per se to form a winding 33. As the winding radius increases, the rocker 6 is pivoted downward against the force of the cylinder-piston unit 7, the conveyor belt running thereon always cutting the path of the holding belt 13 within the entire pivoting angle and transferring the incoming printed sheets to the belt 13. During the winding of the winding 33, the motor 27 acts as a brake for the tape supply roll 14. When the winding 33 has reached the desired size, the rocker 6 is pivoted downwards and the lever 20 is pivoted upwards, and the entire device can be moved to another processing station or be transported to a storage location. To empty the roll, the device is brought back into the position shown, and the rocker 6 and the lever 20 are also turned on. The conveyor belts 3 and 8 are then driven in the opposite direction, and the motor 27 drives the shaft 11 and winds the belt 13 onto the core 12 and the belt supply roll 14, respectively. The newspapers 4 that are released come to rest on the conveyor belt 8 and are transferred by the latter to the conveyor belt 3. The winding 33 is braked by the motor 28 during unwinding. After the printing sheets 4 have been unwound, the device is again ready for receiving new printing sheets, without any additional manipulation being necessary.

According to an embodiment not shown, the gear 18 'can be arranged on the opposite side of the winding core. In this case, two levers 20 are pivotably articulated on the axis 19, one lever being the drive and brake motor 27, the chain gear 21 and the chain 25, the chain gear 24 and the gear 32 and the other lever the drive and brake motor 28 , the sprocket 22, the chain 26 and the sprocket 23 and the gear 30 carries.

According to an embodiment not shown, the motor 28 and the sprocket pair 22, 23 with the chain 26 can be omitted and the winding core 17 or the winding 33 can be driven by the conveyor belts 8, for which purpose a sufficient contact pressure must be selected in the cylinder piston unit 7.

If the part of the installation shown in FIG. 1 is a pure winding station, the drive and brake motor 27 can be a pure brake, whereas if the part of the installation is a pure unwinding station, the drive and brake motor 28 can be a pure braking device.

Wickel 33 abgehoben als auch dagegen gepresst werden.1 shows a drive variant for the winding core 17 or the winding 33 with dash-dotted lines. It replaces the motor 28 and the pair of sprockets 22, 23 with the chain 26. It has an angled frame 35 which is pivotably mounted at 34 in the cheeks 2, in which deflection rollers 36 to 38 are rotatably mounted and over which an endless drive belt 39 is guided is. The roller 36 is driven by a motor, not shown, such that the conveyor belt 3 and the drive belt 39 (and subsequently also the winding circumference) have the same speed. In order to ensure a sufficient frictional connection between the drive belt 39 and the winding core 17 or the winding 33 formed thereon, a cylinder piston unit which can be acted upon by a pressure medium is placed on the frame 35 on the one hand and one of the cheeks 2 on the other hand. With this, the drive belt 39 can be both lifted from the winding core 17 or winding 33 and pressed against it.
