Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for stowing a condensation-prone good in a cargo hold of a ship, in the interior of which air of definable moisture and temperature is enclosed, which comes into contact with the walls against which the good rests and condensation can take place.
- the cargo is ventilated to minimize such damage. Adequate ventilation is only possible if the load is stowed in such a way that between individual parts of the load there are sufficient spaces through which an air flow can be passed. Such gaps are missing, in particular, in the case of a tightly packed load, in particular one which is transported in bulk in bulk carriers. For this reason, only goods that are not sensitive to condensation water could be driven as bulk goods. Many other goods, such as coffee, whose transportation as a bulk good would in principle be offered, have so far not been able to be transported as bulk goods in bulk carriers. Rather, they had to be packed in small units, for example sacks. There was enough space between these small units for air to pass through.
- This object is achieved in that the temperatures of both the air and the walls are regulated at a level at which condensation of the moisture on the walls is prevented.
- This method makes it possible, on the one hand, to keep the temperature of the walls at a level at which the condensation of the air humidity in the cargo hold is prevented and, on the other hand, to radiate heat from the walls in the direction of the load. This heat is sufficient to keep the temperature in the entire cargo hold above the condensation temperature hold. Even in the area where the charge is further away from the heat-radiating walls, the condensation temperature is not undercut, so that no moisture can fail in these areas either. If the cargo space is divided into small units by longitudinal or transverse bulkheads, care must be taken to ensure that these walls dividing the cargo space also have a temperature that prevents condensation.
- these longitudinal and transverse bulkheads can be kept at a temperature above the condensation point.
- the heat can also be supplied using warm air. This can wash around the walls, provided that they are not covered by the load. This supply of warm air is particularly suitable in those cases in which individual cargo units are separated from one another by walls, for example in the case of goods stowed in containers.
- Another object of the present invention is therefore to design a ship with at least one cargo space, inside the air of determinable humidity and temperature, which comes into contact with walls on which a condensation-prone material is present and condensation can take place in such a way that the formation of condensation is prevented.
- This object is inventively achieved in that a temperature of the ambient air is provided as well as the walls to a m, the condensation preventing level holding control.
- Such a regulation ensures that the temperature neither in the loading space nor on the walls drops to a level at which the moisture condenses.
- the regulation can be provided with relatively simple means, so that it turns out to be relatively cheap in terms of technical implementation.
- the air humidity measured during the moisture measurement specifies a temperature value at which the moisture l remains dissolved in the air without condensing in the loading space. If necessary, it can be ensured with relatively simple technical means that relatively dry air is present in the loading space atmosphere prevails so that its moisture content is determined and maintained according to the temperature prevailing in the cargo hold.
- a ship consists of a hull 1, which has at least one cargo space 2. This cargo space 2 is enclosed on all sides by walls 3.
- the walls 3 consist of a floor 4, two side walls 5, 6 extending in the longitudinal direction of the ship, two transverse walls 7, 8 extending in the transverse direction of the ship and a cover 9 which closes the cargo space 2 on its side facing away from the floor 4 and is designed as a hatch cover.
- the hull 1 is designed with two shells, so that outer walls 10, 11, 12 extend parallel to the side walls 5, 6 and the bottom 4, between which and the side walls 5, 6 and the bottom 4 cavities 13, 14, 15 are formed are.
- the cover 9 is also double-shelled and has an outer wall 16 running parallel to it, which together with it encloses a cavity 17.
- the transverse walls 7, 8 likewise have outer walls 18, 19 running parallel to them on their sides facing away from the loading space, which together enclose cavities 20, 21 with them.
- All cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 each extend on the side 28 of a wall 3 facing away from the loading space 2 over its entire surface area.
- the cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 are each connected to at least one adjacent cavity 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 via connections 22.
- the cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 are flowed through by a heating medium used as a heating medium, which preferably consists of warm water. Cooling water can be used as water, which has been heated by a ship's engine 32 and is distributed evenly over the cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 via feed lines 33 and from there is led back to the ship's engine via leads 34.
- At least one circulation pump 23 is provided, with the aid of which the hot water located in the cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 is constantly in motion is held and exchanged between the individual cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 in order to avoid temperature differences on the walls 3.
- the circulation pump 23 and the hot water supply is controlled by a thermostat control 31, which has temperature sensors 29, 30 in the hold 2 and via which the supply and circulation of the warm water is controlled in such a way that the temperature of the air in the hold 2 during the entire transport is kept constant.
- Loads that are susceptible to condensation are filled into loading space 2 in a loading port.
- the ambient air in the loading port penetrates into the cargo hold 2. It is of relatively high temperature and humidity, especially in overseas ports.
- the charge has a relatively high temperature. It is filled into the cargo space 2 as bulk material.
- the loading space cover 9 designed as a hatch cover is closed. Then the ship can sail. On the northern route the ship will arrive in sea areas in which both the air and the water temperature lie significantly below that in the loading port en .Istriped the outer walls 10, 11, 12 of the vessel strongly cool off. The air contained in the cargo space 2 comes into contact with the outer walls 10, 11, 12, cools down there greatly, so that it approaches the condensation point of the liquid dissolved in it. In order to prevent the condensation of moisture, the heat medium is moved through the cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 with the help of the circulation pumps 23. The heat medium has the temperature of the air enclosed in the cargo space 2, so that it cannot cool down on the walls 3. It is able to keep the moisture it contains dissolved without showing any signs of condensation at any point.
- the termostats sense the temperature on the walls 3.
- the measurement results are entered into the termostat control 31.
- This controls the circulation pump 23 with the help of which is pumped around a quantity of cooling water corresponding to the respective temperature conditions, which leaves the ship's engine at an outlet 35 in the hot state and re-enters the ship's machine 32 via an outlet 36 at the inlet 36 in the cooled state.
- a heat exchanger through which the cooling water flows can be arranged between the outlet 35 and the inlet 36 of the ship's engine 32, which heat exchanger is not shown in the example.
- the heat medium is heated up so far that it is able to keep both the walls 3 and the interior of the cargo space 2 at a temperature at which condensation of the moisture dissolved in the air is avoided.
- the heat can be dissipated from the walls 3 directly into the interior of the hold 2.
- 2 longitudinal bulkheads 37 and transverse bulkheads 38 extend in the interior of the loading space, which are connected to the cavities 13, 14, 15, 21 via connections 22. These longitudinal bulkheads 37 and transverse bulkheads 38 can also give off heat to the interior of the loading space 2.
- a measuring sensor 39 in the interior of the cargo space 2, which is suitable for measuring the humidity of the air enclosed in the cargo space 2.
- This sensor 39 is connected to a computer 41 via a measuring line 40.
- control pulses from the termostat control 31 are fed into the computer 41 via a further line 42.
- This computer 41 has a program which can be used to calculate the condensation point of moisture which is dissolved in the air enclosed in the hold 2. According to the moisture value determined by the computer 41, the thermostat control 31 is controlled to a temperature level at which the condensation of the moisture in the cargo space 2 is just being avoided.
- the drier the air 5 the further the temperature in the hold 2 can be lowered.
- the air can be dried using dehumidifiers. For this purpose, the moist air is sucked out of the hold 2 and fed back to the hold 2 in the dried state.
- the heat can also be introduced into the hold 2 using warm air.
- This warm air is distributed as evenly as possible over the cargo space 2.
- This heating of the cargo space 2 also has the advantage that the humidity of the air used for heating can be determined.
- relatively dry air can be used to heat the cargo hold 2.
- this dry air is very difficult to heat up, so that it does not have ideal conditions as a heating medium.
- a fan 25 can be provided for distributing the air.
- all outer walls 10, 11, 12 ⁇ 16, 18, 19 are provided with insulation 24, each of which covers the entire surface of the outer walls 10, 11, 12, 16, 18, 19 each extend on the sides facing the cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21.
- ribs 43 or other measures improving the heat transfer can be provided in the cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21. Good heat transfer from the heat medium flowing through the cavities 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 to the walls 3 takes place at these ribs 43.
- the zwec kn iißi g is expediently provided in the area of the hatch cover 9 provides, for the fact that an ideal possible temperature equalization takes place. For this purpose, it keeps the air trapped in the hold 2 in motion and in this way avoids the formation of condensation.
- the outlet openings opening into the loading space 2 can also be designed as nozzles. These can also be provided in a part of the walls 3 which are covered by the load. In this case, an increase in the pressure entering the cargo space 2 must ensure that the warm air flow passes through the cargo.
- the load compartment cover 9 which is designed as a double-shell hatch cover, has attachment points 26 in the area of its connections 22 with an adjacent cavity 13, at which the connections 22 are detachably attached are set so that the hatch cover can be removed for loading and unloading.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for stowing a condensation-prone good in a cargo hold of a ship, in the interior of which air of definable moisture and temperature is enclosed, which comes into contact with the walls against which the good rests and condensation can take place.
Goods that are susceptible to condensation and are stowed in a hold are surrounded by moisture and temperatures that can be determined by air. As soon as the ship sails through zones of low outside temperature, it must be expected that the temperature in the hold will drop and the air enclosed in the hold will lose its ability to keep the moisture dissolved in it in solution. Rather, the moisture condenses as soon as the temperature drops below a certain solution. At this temperature, the air mixture enclosed in the cargo hold has its condensation point.
11Since the temperature of the charge in the direction of the cool walls only drops slowly, the condensation temperature on the cool walls is generally fallen below first. Moisture forms on these, which ultimately forms water droplets. These run off on the walls in the direction of a floor which delimits the loading space at the bottom. The water collects there and destroys the load insofar as it is sensitive to moisture. 11
The cargo is ventilated to minimize such damage.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to improve the method of the type mentioned in the introduction in such a way that goods which are susceptible to condensation can also be transported in bulk.
This object is achieved in that the temperatures of both the air and the walls are regulated at a level at which condensation of the moisture on the walls is prevented.
This method makes it possible, on the one hand, to keep the temperature of the walls at a level at which the condensation of the air humidity in the cargo hold is prevented and, on the other hand, to radiate heat from the walls in the direction of the load. By appropriately supplying heat, which can also be supplied to the walls dividing the cargo space via a heat transfer medium, these longitudinal and transverse bulkheads can be kept at a temperature above the condensation point. Finally, the heat can also be supplied using warm air. This can wash around the walls, provided that they are not covered by the load. This supply of warm air is particularly suitable in those cases in which individual cargo units are separated from one another by walls, for example in the case of goods stowed in containers.
The ships previously used in bulk transport were not able to stow a cargo that was susceptible to condensation in their holds if it was to be transported in bulk. For this reason, the cheap loading options that these ships offer could not be used. Rather, condensation-prone goods first had to be packed in small packaging units, for example sacks, before they could be stowed in the cargo hold of a freighter. Filling the goods into small packaging units causes considerable costs.
Another object of the present invention is therefore to design a ship with at least one cargo space, inside the air of determinable humidity and temperature, which comes into contact with walls on which a condensation-prone material is present and condensation can take place in such a way that the formation of condensation is prevented.
This object is inventively achieved in that a temperature of the ambient air is provided as well as the walls to a m, the condensation preventing level holding control.
Such a regulation ensures that the temperature neither in the loading space nor on the walls drops to a level at which the moisture condenses. The regulation can be provided with relatively simple means, so that it turns out to be relatively cheap in terms of technical implementation. In the simplest case, it is sufficient to attach temperature sensors in the cargo area and on the walls. The temperature measured by these temperature sensors is kept at a level which corresponds to that of the load filled into the cargo hold. This temperature is kept constant with the help of a control circuit that can be installed in the ship with simple electronic components. In addition, however, it is also conceivable to measure both the humidity and the temperature in the loading space and on the walls. The air humidity measured during the moisture measurement specifies a temperature value at which the moisture l remains dissolved in the air without condensing in the loading space. If necessary, it can be ensured with relatively simple technical means that relatively dry air is present in the loading space atmosphere prevails so that its moisture content is determined and maintained according to the temperature prevailing in the cargo hold.
Further details of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description and the accompanying drawings, in which a preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated, for example.

It is also possible not to directly pump the cooling water through the
The heat can be dissipated from the
In addition, it is also conceivable to install a measuring
Finally, it is conceivable to lower the humidity of the air enclosed in the
When heating the air, care must be taken to ensure that the temperature level in the
The heat can also be introduced into the
In order to avoid excessive heat radiation to the outboard during transport, all
When using a gas as a heat transfer medium, it is also conceivable to design the outlet openings opening into the
The load compartment cover 9, which is designed as a double-shell hatch cover, has attachment points 26 in the area of its
It is also possible not to heat the
In the event that the waste heat output of the marine engine is not sufficient to provide enough hot water for heating a
