Description

The present invention relates to the saddles for fixing the counter-needles and the sliding bearings in the railway switches.

In railway tracks, the rails are fixed using saddles, which are themselves immobilized on the sleepers of the track by lag screws. The rail is fixed to the saddle either rigidly by bolts, or elastic by springs exerting a force of the order of 10,000 N. These fixing springs are clamps made of large curved steel wire in a loop. A frequent type of fixing spring is, for example, that which is manufactured by the company Pandrol and which is the subject of Belgian patent n ° 747.611.

The fixing of the rails however becomes a delicate problem in the switches. In fact, at this point, the needle blade coming into contact with the rail, called at this point against the needle, leaves available only a small height above the rail shoe for the fixing members. In addition, due to the considerable efforts exerted on the track by the weight and speed of the convoys, we have come to frequently use needle blades themselves provided with a shoe which moves on the surface of a sliding pad. Although the needle blades can be supported by sliding bearings carried by special sleepers in addition to the normal track sleepers, it is essential to support the needle blades also by a sliding bushing on the normal sleepers . It then becomes extremely difficult to achieve an elastic fixing of the rail in the space remaining under the sliding pad, itself underlying the shoe of the needle blade.

Different systems have been developed to resolve this difficulty. Thus the system described in Belgian patent n ° 826.013 comprises a sliding bearing which is carried, with the counter-needle, by a common base plate and which comprises a recess inside which is housed an elastic fixing member of which pressure is exerted on the rail shoe on the side of the needle blade, the other side of the shoe being retained in any way. A sliding pad of this kind in the form of a box made of heavy plate therefore constitutes a separate piece which is fixed to the base plate, for example by an autogenous weld bead. Such a system has drawbacks of two kinds, namely a solidity obviously lower than that of a sliding bearing which would have come in one piece with its base plate, on the one hand, and a relatively high manufacturing price, on the other hand, due to the many operations that have to be performed.

It is therefore obvious that a solution where a sliding pad for the needle blade is integral with a base plate carrying the counter-needle is more advantageous: increased solidity by a monobloc manufacture, lower cost due to the reduction of machining operations. The interest would be increased if the fasteners of the rail shoe were easy to install: saving labor.

The invention provides a satisfactory solution to these difficulties by means of a base plate with sliding bushing for railway switch, in which the various necessary members are combined so as to ensure safe guiding of the needle blade. nevertheless providing sufficient space for easy installation of elastic fixing means of the rail pad.

The invention relates to an apparatus for fixing a needle against a sliding pad for the needle blade, in which a base plate comprises members intended for fixing the needle against and guiding the blade. 'needle using a sliding pad having a spout overlapping the counter-needle pad on the side of the needle blade; in the apparatus according to the invention, the base plate has, for the pad of the counter-needle, a bearing surface delimited by two ribs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the track, and, for fixing said pad , a recess formed longitudinally in the rib located on the side of the needle blade and able to cooperate with a loop-shaped fixing spring comprising, from one end to the other, a first branch, a first curved part, a second branch, a second curved part and a third branch, the three branches being substantially parallel to each other, the first branch being housed in the recess, the second branch resting on the upper face of the base plate against the surface of pressure located on the opposite side of said rib relative to the pad of the counter needle, the third branch bearing on the pad of the counter needle by exerting on the latter a substantially normal pressure, the said spring ay ant a lowered shape so that its highest part is located below the upper surface of the sliding bearing, the latter having a shape which gives off the access necessary for fitting the spring.

In a preferred embodiment, an orifice other than the entry of the recess in the rib located on the side of the needle blade, makes it communicate with the outside of the plate basic.

In a particular embodiment, the orifice other than the entry of the recess formed in the rib located on the side of the needle blade, is formed by the extension of the recess to the opposite side of the plate basic.

In another particular embodiment, the orifice other than the entry of the recess formed in the rib situated on the side of the needle blade, is formed by the communication between the said recess, on at least part of its length, and a channel formed in the underside of the base plate, under the said recess and parallel to it.

In an advantageous embodiment, the pressure surface comprises, towards the edge of the base plate closest to the inlet of the recess, a profiled boss.

The invention offers an advantageous solution to the problem of producing an elastic fixing of the pad of the counter-needle, in the space remaining below the level of the sliding surface of the bearing.

The elastic fixing of the counter-needle shoe, on the side opposite to the needle blade, can also be carried out as described above.

In this case, the apparatus according to the invention is produced in such a way that the base plate further comprises a second recess formed longitudinally in the rib situated on the side opposite to the needle blade, and able to cooperate with a fixing spring in the form of a loop comprising, from one end to the other, a first branch, a first curved part, a second branch, a second curved part and a third branch, the three branches being substantially parallel to each other, the first branch being housed in this second recess, the second branch bearing on the upper face of the base plate against a pressure surface located on the opposite side of said rib relative to the pad of the counter-needle, the third branch ' bearing on the pad of the counter-needle by exerting on the latter a substantially normal pressure.

This recess formed in the rib situated on the side opposite to the needle blade advantageously comprises an orifice, other than the inlet of this recess, which makes it communicate with the outside of the base plate.

In its preferred form, a base plate according to the invention, with integrated sliding pad allowing the fixing of the counter-needle and the movement of the needle blade, offers all the advantages of a monobloc embodiment, of a machining respecting the relative positions and orientations, of an elastic mounting of the counter-needle and of an easy implementation on the way of the fact that the fixing springs can be put in place by simply being driven with a hammer and removed the same if necessary.

The following is a description of a specific embodiment of the sliding needle counter-needle fixing device for a needle blade according to the invention.

In the drawings:
  • Fig. 1 is a top view of the apparatus according to the invention, and
  • Fig. 2 is a front view in elevation.

1 and 2, the device according to the invention comprises a generally rectangular oblong base plate 1 of steel, the core portion of which has a thickness of 13 mm, the overall length being 610 mm and the width being 130 mm with a widening of 25 mm on either side in region 2 where the sliding bearing 3 is contiguous to the spring 4 closest to the needle blade 5 (Fig. 2). The base plate 1 is fixed to the track crosspiece (not shown) by four lag screws (not shown) inserted in the holes 6 grouped in pairs at the ends of the plate. The counter-needle 7 (FIG. 2) rests by its shoe 8 on a saddle surface or bearing surface 9 inclined by the usual value of 1/20 in the direction of the axis of the track. This bearing surface 9 is delimited between a left rib 10 (on the side opposite the needle blade) whose vertical face 11 is 170 mm from the left edge of the plate and a right rib 12 (on the side needle blade) located 150 mm to the right of the rib 10. A recess 13 of cylindrical shape is formed in the rib 10. This recess 13 extends over half the width of the base plate 1 to the upper face 14 from which it opens at 15 into a region 16 where the base plate 1 is thinner than around the entrance to the recess 13 which is thus ventilated. This recess 13 cooperates with a fixing spring 18 in the form of a loop, and comprising three branches 17, 21, 22 substantially parallel to one another. The first branch 17 of this spring 18 is housed in the recess 13, the second branch 21 of this spring is supported on the upper face of the base plate 1 against a pressure surface 19, the third branch 22 is supported on the pad 8 of the counter needle 7 by exerting on the latter a substantially normal pressure. Pressure surface 19 is provided with a boss 20.

Another recess 24 is formed under the right rib 12 at the same bore as the recess 13, at a height, relative to the underside 25 of the base plate 1, which is such that the notional plane tangent to the part high of the recesses 13 and 24 is parallel to the support surface 9 and coincides with the latter. A channel 26, the profile of which is in an arc of a circle, is formed in the underside 25 of the base plate 1 between a long side and the other thereof, with a sufficient width so that the contour of the channel and that of the recess 24 have a common area 27, so that the recess 24 is also ventilated. This recess 24 cooperates with a fixing spring 4 similar to the fixing spring 18, the first branch 28 of which is housed in the recess 24, the second branch 31 bears on the upper face of the base plate 1 against a surface of pressure 29, the third branch 32 bears on the shoe 8 of the counter-needle 7. The pressure surface 29 is provided with a boss 30. It should be noted that the recess 24 is formed in the enlarged region 2 of the base plate 1. The base plate 1 carries, for the needle blade 5, a sliding pad 3, the upper face 34 of which is located 64 mm above the lower face of the base plate 1. The pad 3 has a spout 35 covering about 40 mm the wing 36 of the pad 8 of the counter-needle 7, on the side of the needle blade 5. The face 34 of the pad 3 on which the movement of the the needle blade 5 has a length of about 258 mm. As shown in Fig. l, the face 34 of the pad 3 comprises a part 37 whose width is 125 mm in the right part of the base plate 1 and a part 38 continuing the part 37 in the region 2, opposite the spring 4. The length 258 mm, including the spout, of the pad 3 leaves sufficient space for the installation of the right lag bolts. The needle blade 5 is supported by its shoe 39 (Fig. 2) on the face 34. The counter-needle 7 is thus fixed elastically on the bearing surface 9 by the branches 32 and 22 of the wire springs. steel 4 and 18, of which at least that contiguous to the needle blade 5 is profiled sufficiently flat so as not to protrude above the face 33 of the bearing 3.

The various useful surfaces of the base plate are produced in accordance with the standards and are connected to each other by the various roundings required.

The preferred embodiment described above of the apparatus according to the invention therefore offers all the advantages of great solidity because it consists of a single piece of steel, of an inexpensive manufacture of the fact that it can be shaped for the most part by forging and saving labor on the track site due to the fact that the skid fixing members are simple springs driven into place with hammer blows and possibly just as easily removed, the device therefore suitable for elastic mounting of the tracks.
