Description

The invention relates to a method for low-loss reduction of lumps of flock from a dosing container for flock equipped with a brush that moves at least one dosing sieve, and a dosing device for this purpose according to the preamble of claim 3.

Methods for metering flock and the necessary metering devices for this purpose have become known, for example, from DE-OS 2 740 261 or from GB-PS 1 142 039 or also from DE-GM 8 215 591. Devices of this type are quite useful and have proven itself in daily operation.

However, the flock metered with such devices often has the property of clumping into lumps and thereby disrupting proper metering. Even after a short period of operation, such dosing devices accumulate in the lower sieve area of such metering devices that the metered amount of meterable flock is impaired in such a way that a uniform trickling is no longer possible. The plant must be continuously increased in speed according to the accumulating amount of lumps so that the necessary amount of flock can be drained off. At the same time, as the number of flock lumps increases, there is a risk that such clumped material will be pressed as partial lumps through the metering sieve, so that the material to be flocked is flocked incorrectly at these points. In order to prevent such errors and operational irregularities, a metering device of the flocking system is shut down in relatively short time intervals in the prior art and the contents of the metering device including the flock lumps are taught. Then the dosing device is filled again and put into operation again. These measures are time-consuming and labor-intensive and therefore costly overall. They are therefore kept to a minimum, but this increases the risk of defective flocking, so that an unnecessarily high reject rate is inevitably accepted.

The invention is based on the object of proposing a method and the device suitable for this purpose with which it is possible to avoid such interruptions in operation and at the same time to reduce the reject rate.

According to the invention, this object is achieved on the basis of a method of the type described in the introduction in that the lumps of floc are swept out of the brush into a waste container via a temporarily open gap in the container. Depending on the nature of the flock to be dosed, there is a large number of lumps within the container near the dosing sieve at regular intervals that removal of these lumps from the dosing container becomes inevitable. This is the point in time at which a gap is opened at a suitable point in the container, so that in the gap region the brushes in the dosing container sweep the flock in front of it into the spa. This also sweeps the lumps of floc into the gap and thus into the waste container. The inevitable loss of meterable flock is relatively low. When the lumps of flock have largely swept out, the gap in the container can be closed again and further sweeping is stopped. Throughout the entire procedure described, the dosing of the flock continues, of course. The normal dosage is not affected by the information measures. It is thus possible without interruption of the metering operation and, at the same time, to avoid rejects, to free the metering container again and again from the clumps of flock which accumulate. Changes in the operating speed of the dosing device or downtimes and cleaning times are not necessary.

According to an embodiment of the method according to the invention, it is also proposed that the filling of the waste container is conveyed into a separating device, from which the unclumped flock is conveyed back into a storage container or into the dosing container. In this way it is achieved that the loss of meterable flock is almost zero. This makes it possible to sweep out larger amounts of meterable flock in order to increase safety during the sweeping process in order to remove as many flock lumps from the metering container. There is no loss of material.

A metering device according to the preamble of claim 3 is suitable for carrying out the method according to the invention, in which a container side wall has a movable flap which extends over the entire width of the room and with which the container can be opened and closed in its lower region. This creates the necessary gap opening for sweeping in a very simple manner.

According to an embodiment of the device according to the invention it is provided that the screen is followed by a baffle which overlaps the flap and on which the flap rests from the outside when the container is closed. This baffle is, so to speak, the collection and sweeping point for the lumps of flock. The described overlap prevents the flock lumps from being caught incorrectly. At the same time, the arrangement of the flap in the open state ensures that the relatively heavy lumps of fluff fall off easily. The subsequent closing process is also problem-free due to the overlapping arrangement and, moreover, particularly precise dimensional adjustments of the individual components are avoided, which makes it simple, reliable and cost-effective production is made possible.

In a further embodiment of the invention it is also provided that the flap is attached to the side wall of the container by means of a pivot hinge. This is the structurally simplest and cheapest. at the same time the most reliable way to make the flap movable in the necessary manner.

In a further embodiment of the invention it is provided that a power-operated drive device is provided for the movement of the flap. This makes it possible to have the flap actuated either by automatic control or by manual control.

Another embodiment of the invention provides that the flap is under the preload of a spring in the closing direction. As a result, the flap can always be kept reliably closed even when, for. B. in the case of the power-operated drive device, the drive energy fails.

Another embodiment of the invention in turn provides that the power-operated drive device is a fluid-driven piston-cylinder unit. This has proven to be the simplest actuation solution.

Another embodiment of the invention in turn provides that the piston of the piston-cylinder unit is under the preload of a spiral compression spring. In this way, the control effort can be reduced and at the same time a reliable closing of the flap is achieved in the event of a power failure.

Another embodiment of the invention provides that a waste container is arranged below the gap to be opened. This enables the targeted collection of the falling goods.

Finally, according to one embodiment of the invention, it is also provided that devices are provided for conveying the goods entering the waste container from the waste container. Such facilities could e.g. B. screw conveyors or transport chains running through the container with scraper or cups. Any funding that is capable of conveying the goods in the container is suitable per se. The material conveyed in this way can then be conveyed, for example, into a separating device in which the lumps of floc are separated from the still dosed flock, in which case the lumps of flock can be transported into the waste, while the dosed flock can be fed back into a corresponding storage container or directly back into the dosing device can be.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which exemplary embodiments are shown.

The metering device 1 consists essentially of a container 2 with the container side walls 6 and 6 ', which has a sieve 3 on its underside 4. Angled guide walls 14 and 15 are arranged opposite the sieve 3, which come to rest on the one hand on the side walls 6 and 6 'and on the other hand form an inlet opening 7. The bulk material to be dosed is continuously filled into this inlet opening 7 in the direction of fall 18.

In the interior of the container 2 there is a brush roller in the exemplary embodiment, consisting essentially of a shaft 8, which is mounted on the end walls of the container 2 so as to be rotatably drivable, on which brush strip carriers 11 are arranged so as to be non-rotatably connected to the shaft 8, on which in the circumferential direction around the shaft 8 evenly distributed brush strips 10 with substantially radially directed bristles 9 are arranged and fastened parallel to the shaft 8. Such a brush roller 5 turns during operation in the direction of arrow 12 so that the bulk material filled through the inlet opening 7 is carried along by the bristles 9 and the brush strips 10 and placed on the sieve 3 of the container and by the bristles which continue to run 9 is passed through the sieve.

In order to achieve a uniform trickle, a uniform filling level of the chambers formed by the brush strips 10 and the bristles 9 arranged thereon is of crucial importance. Therefore, in order to avoid an underfilling with the associated negative effects, the continuously flowing bulk quantity is constantly checked in its mass flow, so that in addition to the underfilling, overfilling with likewise negative effects is avoided. In order to make this possible in a simple manner, a scraper 16 is fastened in parallel position to the shaft 8 on the inlet side 13 of the guide wall 14.

The scraper edge of the scraper 16, which is also parallel to the shaft 8, simply scrapes off excess bulk material, so that the chambers formed by the brush strips 10 and the bristles 9 arranged thereon then pass through the scraper 16 and its scraper edge 17 in the direction of rotation always have the same level. Due to the effect of the scraper 16, it can now be safely taken care of a permanent overfilling, which also eliminates the risk of underfilling.

As shown in the drawing in the area of the inlet opening, the brush strips 10 can the brush strip holders 11 of the brush 5 are removed and turned or exchanged for other brush strips, for example with different bristles 9 or a different length of the bristles 9. As a result, the metering device 1 can be set up for different bulk goods or different bulk goods quality, or worn bristle strips can be exchanged very simply. In order to be able to adapt to the resulting changed conditions in the metering device 1, the scraper 16 can be arranged movably on the guide wall 14, so that the position of the scraper edge 17 can be changed.

In the area of the sieve and the guide plate 23, after a certain operating time - depending on the type of flocks to be metered - flock clumps 19 accumulate, which, with increasing concentration, impede the correct trickling in a constant amount. To remove these lumps, a movable flap 22 is provided between the side wall 6 of the container and the baffle 23, which is now opened around the gap 20, so that the rotating brush 5 passes the lumps 19 through the gap 20 into the waste container 21 arranged underneath, but in any case from the dosing container 2 comes out. The transport bw. Falling direction of the flock lumps 19 is indicated by the arrows coming from the inside of the container. After the sweeping process has ended, the movable flap 22 is closed again.

In the exemplary embodiment, the movable flap 22 is fastened via a pivot hinge 24, one flap of which is fastened to the container side wall 6 and the other flap of which supports the movable flap 22.

The movable flap can be actuated, for example, by hand using the hand lever 29, which has to be moved in the direction of arrow 30 against the force of the spring 27 in order to open the movable flap 22. If you let go of the hand lever 29, the force of the spring 27 ensures that the movable flap 22 is closed again.

For automatic operation, actuation of the movable flap 22 can also be provided via the power-operated drive device 25. A compressed air-actuated piston-cylinder unit is particularly suitable for this purpose, in which, for example, the cylinder 31 is movably attached to the container side wall 6, while the end of the piston rod 32 is movably connected to the movable flap 22 by means of corresponding fastening means. The piston 28 is under the preload of the spring 26, so that the movable flap 22 is closed again by this spring 26 via the piston rod 32 in the event of a power failure or when the energy is switched off.

In order to open the movable flap 22, a corresponding control pulse goes from the control unit 36 via the line 35 to the valve 33, which is hereby brought into the switching position shown in FIG. 4, whereby the line 37 is connected to the pressure source 34, which causes the cylinder 31 is supplied with compressed air from the piston rod side. As a result, the piston 28 and thus also the piston rod 32 move into the cylinder 31, thereby opening the movable flap 22 and tensioning the spring 26.

To close the movable flap 22, a control pulse is sent again from the control unit 36 via the line 35 to the valve 33, which is thereby switched to the second switching position, whereby the pressure source 34 is shut off and the line 37 is connected to the atmosphere. The spring 26 can now move the piston 28 and thus also the piston rod 32 in the opposite direction, as a result of which the movable flap 22 is closed again.

The sweeping process collects in the waste container 21, which in the exemplary embodiment is channel-shaped, both still meterable bulk material and also lumps of floc. It is therefore useful to further reduce loss, this waste container 21 manually or by an appropriate conveyor, such. B. a screw conveyor or other suitable conveyor, to be emptied regularly, preferably in a suitable separating device, in which, for example, the lumps of floc are separated from the still meterable flock, so that the still meterable flock can be conveyed back immediately into a storage container or directly into the dosing container 2. This can limit the loss to the unusable lumps. At the same time, this makes it possible to actuate the movable flap 22 generously so that the dosing space remains as free as possible from lumps of floc. The entire dosing device 1 described is part of an overall system for coating any surfaces, for. B. for coating carpets, wallpapers or other surfaces with rod-shaped bulk material, preferably with so-called. Flock, in which the rod-shaped bulk material is aligned after being passed through the sieve 3 of the metering device 1 in an electrostatic field and processed further in this aligned state. The application of the concept of the invention in such a device enables uninterrupted operation for the first time and ensures a uniform flocking quality and at the same time minimizes rejects.
