Description

The invention relates to a diamond form dressing roller for dressing grinding wheels with a ceramic, Bakelite or metallic bond, which carries a coating of diamonds on a surface of a base body, which is limited to the outside by the large diameter of the roller.

Grinding disks with geometrically defined profiles on their grinding surface are used to grind profiles into workpiece surfaces. These profiles must first be worked into the new wheel by dressing and then reworked from time to time due to grinding wheel wear.

A profile grinding wheel is dressed either with a profile dressing roller bearing the workpiece contour on its surrounding surface or with a diamond form roller. A form roller is also laterally guided by suitable controls during dressing so that the required grinding wheel profile stored in the control is created.

The smallest concave radius to be dressed on the grinding wheel corresponds to the convex radius R on the diamond roller. Radii with R % 0.2 mm are often required. Suitable form rollers can either only be made with small grain diamonds or the radius R must be created on the form roller by grinding with diamond grinding wheels. With small radius sizes, however, the wear of the diamond form roller is correspondingly higher, so that the use of such dressing tools proves to be uneconomical.

That is why diamond form rollers have been developed, the circumferential surface of which is cylindrical. The cylinder part is delimited on both sides by radii, which in turn are tangential in z. B. pass at an angle a = 30 ° inclined end faces. With these form rollers, the diamonds lie in a layer next to one another on the cylindrical circumferential surface parallel to the axis of rotation of the tool.

Larger grain sizes can be used for these at the same radius R because of their geometric shape than in the previously described embodiment. Because of the additional straight dressing zones, several diamonds are used at the same time. This extends the lifespan. However, the use of such rollers is limited by their geometric shape, because only concave radii with an included angle - 90 ° or. 90 ° + a can be dressed. In addition, such diamond form rollers are still subject to an inadequate service life due to the wear occurring on the radius, because the most frequent contact and thus the greatest stress occurs during profile dressing in the area of the radius R. All these known form rollers have the disadvantage that their service life is at the latest when a layer of diamonds is worn out.

Known (DE-A 1 093 692) is a dressing tool with a diamond layer which is aligned radially to the axis of the grinding wheel. It is a fixed honing tool for dressing, which is not suitable for form dressing in the precision process, because with continuous wear the effective surface area of the diamond grit increases, so that the operating conditions change depending on wear.

The disadvantage of only a short life of a form dressing roll is also given in a known embodiment according to DE-A 2 510 558 which describes the closest prior art. Such a dressing roller has a diamond coating on two outwardly converging flat surfaces and on its convexly curved peripheral surface, which is formed in one layer. If such a form roller is used to dress a grinding wheel with its peripheral surface, the service life or the obtaining of precise dressing results is limited to the preservation of the outermost diamond layer on the peripheral surface, which is a single layer. After the diamond layer lying on the outside of the circumference has been used up, the two diamond layers adjoining on the outside and diverging towards the outside would still be used, although these are in themselves intended to work freely by swiveling the shaping roller on the tool to be dressed. However, due to the increasing divergence with the increasing consumption of the outer layers, radii of the same size cannot be used continuously, because the size of the effective radii would increase continuously, since the originally small outer radius of the dressing roll increases continuously as a result of the mutual inclination of the two outer ones Layers of diamond. After the diamond grain layer, which was originally on the circumference, has worn out, it is consequently not possible to continue to produce constantly small radii on the grinding wheel while the form dressing roller is still used for a long time.

The object of the invention is therefore to make diamond shaped rollers usable for small radii over a longer service life than was previously economically possible. According to the invention there is provided a form dressing roller according to the preamble of claim 1, which is provided only with a single coating of diamonds of narrow size, which is single-layered in the direction of the axis of rotation and multi-layered perpendicular to the axis of rotation.

Such a form roller allows the processing of profiles with very small radii without the effective width being reduced when worn changes. A long service life can be used for this, because after the outer diamonds wear out, the diamonds underneath are to be used continuously until the diamond layers are completely used up under the same conditions.

An exemplary embodiment of such a diamond form roller is shown in a drawing and explained below.

The base parts 1 and 2 with the diameter D are preferably made of steel. Between the base body parts 1 and 2 is the single layer in the direction of the axis of rotation 3 and perpendicular to the axis of rotation 3 multilayer diamond coating 4 with the thickness D 1 with the diamonds 5 located on the outermost circumference generate, be closely classified by sieving. For example, a sieve fraction can be used which has passed a sieve with a mesh size of 330 μm, but remains on a sieve with a mesh size of 290 4 m. In addition, in order to further narrow the tolerance, the sieve fraction can be grain-size classified in a known manner and only the predominantly round or blocky grains can be used. If the outermost diamond layer 5 wears during dressing, the steel base bodies 1 and 2 are simultaneously ground down by contact with the grinding wheel, so that the diamonds available on the outer circumference always protrude beyond the base body because the diamonds wear less because of their hardness as the steel base bodies 1 and 2 and the bond 6 arranged between the diamonds. A state of wear 7 is shown in dashed lines as an example because of the successively engaging, diamond-tipped circumferences up to the dash-dotted line 8, but with the pointed shape of the diamond form roller remains, the lifespan of this dressing tool is far longer than the lifespan of known diamond form rollers, in which the wear after usually only half a diamond coating layer brings about the end of the lifespan due to an impermissibly large form deviation.

The diamonds are advantageously bound to the base part 1 by means of an electrodeposited nickel coating, the thickness of which is smaller than the diamond grain size. However, other types of binding such as bronze, steel, synthetic resin and the like can also be used. A double bond can preferably also be carried out, the single-layer diamond coating being bonded to one base part by galvanic precipitation, but the other base part is sintered, for example, with a bronze, which can optionally be filled with wear-reducing fillers such as cobalt. A further embodiment consists in that the base body part 2 is made of sintered bronze, the sintered bronze being sintered directly onto the base body part 1 equipped with the diamond coating.
