Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a box for powdered or liquid products, and a washing machine provided with such a box.
  • a washing machine for example usually comprises a box containing one or more products for the treatment of the laundry such as detergents, fabric softeners, bleach or perfume. These products are available either in powder form or in liquid form.
  • the product container is designed for use of a predetermined form of product, either powdery or liquid. Replacing a powdery product with a liquid product is not admissible in such machines.
  • the product box is provided, apart from the fixed containers for pulverulent products, with one or more removable containers for liquid products.
  • a change from powdery product to liquid product or vice versa results in either removal or placement of these removable containers.
  • Certain known washing machines are provided with boxes for products which can receive either powdered or liquid products.
  • the means of discharge are common to the product, to the “product-water” mixture and to the residual water in the tank.
  • the fouling of these means of evacuation can seriously disturb the operation of these boxes.
  • these means are constituted by a siphon.
  • the fouling of this siphon or a change in viscosity of a liquid product may cause a partial or total obstruction of this siphon and consequently a poor or total stop of the product distribution or evacuation of the residual water from the tank.
  • frequent manual cleaning of the siphons of their product box is essential. To this disadvantage is added in certain cases a difficulty of maintenance in particular that relating to fixed and not very accessible siphons.
  • good evacuation of a product by overflow also depends on the manner in which the stream of water is admitted into the box during the formation of a “water-product” mixture. Because a turbulence of the admitted water remaining localized in the vicinity of the outlet of the water supply duct into the box as shown in document DE-A-2 947 330 often proves to be insufficient to take off in time from the wall of the box during the time of admission of water, a high viscosity product or a moistened pulverulent product forming a more or less dense paste. And a mass of the product released late during the evacuation of water by the siphon can lead to an obstruction of the latter and prevent a good functioning of the box.
  • the aim of the present invention is to avoid the drawbacks mentioned above, which makes it possible to produce a product box, which can indifferently receive a liquid or powdery product and ensuring a positive distribution of the products by overflow and by means of a rotational movement. ascending of the “water-product” mixture.
  • the subject of the invention is a box for powder or liquid products according to claim 1.
  • the invention also relates to a box for powder or liquid products in which the evacuation siphon is automatically cleaned each time the product is dispensed, and automatically started in the product dispensing phase.
  • the invention also relates to a machine for washing clothes or dishes provided with such a product box.
  • a washing machine 1 produced according to the invention illustrated in FIG. 1, comprises a body 2 in which are mounted at least one tank 3, a washing drum 4, and a product box 5, shown in broken lines .
  • the product box 5 comprises (FIG. 2) at least one tank 6 which can receive either a liquid or pulverulent product.
  • the tank 6 is provided with a product supply opening 7 in its upper part, and with a product discharge opening by overflow 8 in its side wall.
  • the tank 6 is supplied with water by a water pipe 13, one of the injection ends or ends 14 of which is mounted in this tank at a height below the level of this overflow opening 8, near the bottom 9 of the tray 6 and tangentially to the side wall of the latter.
  • a dose of liquid or pulverulent product is deposited at the bottom 9 of the tank 6, the stream of water exiting at high speed from this injection end 14 gradually carries away the product, forming a “water-product” mixture and thanks to its tangential direction in the tank 6 communicates to this mass of mixture a rotational movement promoting a flotation of product until the opening 8 of the tank to evacuate the latter by overflow.
  • the stream of feed water through this injection end 14 is admitted into the tank 6 until the dose of product introduced is exhausted, so that it does not remain in the tank only water at the end of the product distribution.
  • the tank 6 comprises a polygonal or circular cross section. To favor the rotational movement of the “water-product” mixture created by the high-speed entry of the water stream leaving the injection end 4, the tank 6 preferably comprises a circular cross section in its lower part located below the discharge opening 8.
  • the tank 6 is placed in communication with the outside by means of a siphon 10, one of the branches 10a of which opens at one end called the communication end 11 at a low point in the peripheral zone of its bottom 9 and just below and in the plane of the axis of the injection end 14 of the feed water pipe 13, and the other branch 10b opens to the open air by its end called the outlet end 12, at a level lower than that of the end 11 of the first branch 10a.
  • the water leaving at high speed from the injection end 14 and passing over this communication end 11 creates on the one hand a rotation of the “water-product mixture contained in this tank 6 and d on the other hand a more or less large depression in the siphon 10.
  • the water pipe 13 which feeds the tank 6 comprises a second end called the receiving end 15 which receives, through a free air space 16, a jet of water supplied by a source not shown through a supply nozzle 17 and a solenoid valve not shown.
  • This water conduit 13 is according to an important characteristic of the invention connected, at a point upstream of its injection end 14, to a point of the branch 10a of the siphon 10 which carries the communication end 11, by a bypass line 18. Since this water bypass line 18 has a diameter less than the section of the injection end nozzle 14, a large part of the water circulating in the water conduit 13 enters through the injection end 14 into the tank 6, and a small part of the water from the pipe 13 passes through the bypass pipe 18 in the siphon 10.
  • the water coming from the bypass line 18 entering the branch 10a of the siphon 10 at the junction point 29 is divided into two streams, a stream of water 19 passing through the branch 10a of the siphon 10 is called in the tank 6 through the communication end 11 under the effect of the vacuum created by the stream of water exiting at high speed from the injection end 14 in front of this end 11 of the branch 10a of the siphon, and a stream of water 20 crossing the branch 10b of the siphon 10 and going out through the outlet end 12.
  • the water entering the siphon 10 by the bypass pipe 18 and leaving by the outlet end 12 permanently creates during the supply of water to the tank 6, a prior initiation of this siphon 10.
  • the siphon 10 can operate immediately.
  • the siphon 10 is thus primed regardless of the filling height of the tank 6.
  • This characteristic authorizes a construction of the product box 5 with a tank 6 provided with a siphon 10 having its high point 21 exceeding the level of the overflow opening 8 of the tank 6.
  • this structure of the box 5 there is no 'There is no risk of an unexpected priming of the siphon 10 when filling the tank 6, with a liquid product, and of an untimely evacuation of the product introduced into this tank.
  • the high point 21 of the siphon 10 is below the level of the overflow opening 8, and if a dose of liquid product is introduced into the tank 6 which reaches the opening 8, the siphon 10 is immediately primed and the dose of liquid product is. inappropriately evacuated.
  • the siphon 10 When the high point 21 of the siphon 10 is above the level of the overflow opening 8 and even if a dose of liquid product which overflows the opening 8 is introduced into the tank 6, the siphon 10 is not not primed and the product dose remains in tank 6 until a normal product distribution takes place.
  • the overflow opening 8 is formed at a level of the side wall of the tank 6, corresponding at least to a maximum dose of liquid product admitted into the tank 6. Usually this maximum dose does not reach the level of this opening and the high point 21 of the siphon 10 can be between the level of this opening 8 and that of this dose of product without causing untimely priming of the siphon 10 and the evacuation of the dose of product introduced.
  • the bottom 9 of the container 6 preferably has a convex shape in its central zone whose convexity is turned towards the interior of this container 6.
  • This structure promotes a distribution of the dose product introduced towards the peripheral zone of the bottom 9 where the water stream usually leaving at high speed from the tangential injection end 14 of the supply water conduit 13 circulates, and the cc water-product mixture is formed ".
  • the evacuation of the product becomes more efficient.
  • the section of the bypass line 18 is chosen so as to preferably obtain a pressure of the water entering the siphon 10, slightly greater than the vacuum created. in the siphon 10 by passing the stream of water leaving the injection end 14 of the water pipe 13 at high speed, in front of the communication end 11 of the siphon 10.
  • a tangential arrangement at the wall of the tank 6, of the injection end 14 allows the stream of water entering the tank to easily form with the product therein, a “water-product” mixture, and to create a rotational movement of this mixture.
  • a nozzle shape of the injection end 14 makes it possible to substantially increase the speed of the stream of water entering the tank 6 and thus achieve good rotation speed of this mass of “water-product” mixture. and cause the product to float in this mass, even if this product is heavier than this water.
  • the stream of water 19 coming from the siphon 10 through the bottom 9 of the tank goes upwards and tends to form with the stream of water leaving the injection end 14 of the water pipe 13, a stream d upward water which promotes an upward movement of the product and its evacuation by overflow, through the opening 8 of the tank 6.
  • the tank 6 is held in position by a support, in the product box 5.
  • the support for the tank 6 is constituted by a frame 22 of the box 5.
  • the frame 22 serves at the same time as a collecting container, which collects the water, the “water-product mixture or any other liquid discharged from the tank 6 and which guides it to the place of its use, in other words the tank 3 of the washing machine 1 in the example shown in FIG. 1.
  • the product box 5 may have one or more tanks having a structure similar to tank 6 and each also provided with a water supply duct and a siphon connected together in the same manner as that of the ducts 13 and siphon 10, to obtain similar operation and similar results.
  • the trays 6 can safely receive and distribute both liquid and powdered products.
  • the pulverulent or liquid product is, during its distribution, gradually carried away by a stream of water continuously renewed which forms a swirling mixture, and evacuated by overflow through the opening 8.
  • the water supply to the tank is stopped and only water remains in the latter, and this is evacuated without any difficulty by the siphon 10 which is already cleaned and primed.
