Abstract

A resilient contact for electrical plug and socket connections is produced from a flat sheet metal section such that two resilient limbs, lying side-by-side and connected at the root, are produced initially by stamping, the one resilient limb having a bend at its free end whose length corresponds approximately to the width of the other resilient limb and which engages over the free end of the other resilient limb. By corresponding bending of the one resilient limb from the plane of the sheet metal, the latter is shortened so that the bend is located opposite the free end of the other resilient limb. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a spring contact for electrical plug connections with two single or multiple curved flat spring legs formed from a one-piece sheet metal blank, in the resilient areas of which contact surfaces are formed which lie opposite one another and between which a plug pin can be inserted for contacting and the non-resilient area of which is a common electrical one Connection is provided.

A spring contact of this type is known from DE-AS 1 129 580. The sheet metal blank for this spring contact has two adjacent legs, one of which is longer than the other. The long leg is then bent in an S-shape such that its free end is flush with that of the short leg, i.e. that now both legs have the same effective length. Now both legs are bent in an interlocking manner in or parallel to the sheet metal cutting plane in such a way that the leg ends designed as contact surfaces lie opposite one another.

The production of this spring contact is material-intensive because practically the sheet metal strip around which the short leg is shorter than the long leg than waste is eliminated.

In addition, the manufacture of the spring contact is complicated because after the S-shaped bending of the long leg both legs also have to be crossed in or parallel to the plane of the sheet metal.

The invention has for its object to improve a spring contact for electrical connectors of the type mentioned so that the cost of materials is reduced and the manufacture is simplified.

This object is achieved in that the two spring legs are arranged side by side and that one of the two spring legs is provided at its free end with an in-plane bend, the length of which corresponds approximately to the width of the other spring leg, which has the bend Spring leg is bent such that the bend is opposite the free end of the other spring leg.

The solution according to the invention enables the material-saving. Production of a spring contact in the stamping process. The width of the flat sheet metal blank is smaller than the grid dimension of 2.54 mm, so that such a spring contact can be used in connector strips for printed circuits. Furthermore, there is the advantage that, after punching the sheet metal blank, only one operation is required in which the long leg is bent in an S-shape and, if necessary, the bend of the long spring leg and the free end of the short spring leg are slightly bent outwards in order to introduce it to facilitate the plug pin in the spring contact, the punching and bending can be worked with a tool.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. Show it
  • 1 shows a cross section of a plug connection with the spring contact according to the invention and
  • 2 shows the spring contact according to FIG. 1 after the stamping process and before the bending process of the one spring leg.

The connector shown in Fig. 1 consists of the housing 1 and the spring contact 2. This spring contact is inserted with a connector 5 and 5a through an opening in the bottom of the housing 1 and secured against being pulled out. The two spring legs 3 and 4 lie perpendicular to the plane of the drawing next to each other and have the common connection 5, the width of which corresponds to the width a of both spring legs 3 and 4. The connection 5 can also be kept somewhat larger or smaller if necessary.

As can be seen from Fig. 2, the spring contact 2 consists of differently shaped spring legs 3 and 4. They are produced by punching a band plate made of resilient material in such a way that a slot 9 is formed in the longitudinal direction of the band and a separation 10 is formed transversely thereto. Instead of the slot 9, only one separation can also be punched.

The .Trennung 10 is set so that the length of the spring leg 4 in approximately the desired length of the finished F e-Dersch grandchild corresponds to 4 (Fig. L). As a result of this separation 10, the spring leg 3 is angled 7, which lies above the spring leg 4. The contact surfaces 12 and 13 thus lie one above the other in the longitudinal direction of the spring contact 2 after this first manufacturing process.

In a second manufacturing process, the spring leg 3 is bent in an S-shape at its lower region, which is close to the connection 5. As a result, the contact surface 12 is shifted downward. The bending is carried out so that the contact surface 12 is at the height of the contact surface 13 and opposite. The bend 7 of the spring leg 3 and the free end of the spring leg 4 are expediently bent slightly outwards in opposite directions, so that the plug pin 11 can be easily inserted into the spring contact 2 in the direction of arrow 6. In addition, a point or line-shaped contact between spring contact 2 and plug pin 11 is achieved. Between the two bending points of the S-shaped bend of the spring leg 3, an area is provided as a web 14 through which the two spring legs 3 and 4 come to lie so far apart that the plug pin 11 can be inserted without hindrance.

The described design makes it possible to produce the spring contact 2 with a single tool, which first carries out the stamping process and then the bending process. All bending points can be created simultaneously during the bending process.

In the spring contact 2 described, there is a difference which is advantageous for making contact with the plug pin 11 Liches vibration behavior of the two spring legs 3 and 4. This is due to the fact that in the area of the connection 5 one spring leg 3 is bent several times, while the other spring leg 4 is not at all or, as shown in Fig. 1, only slightly bent.
