Definitions
- the invention relates to a contact arrangement for relays with mutually opposing fixed and movable contact elements, wherein at least one fixed bridge contact element and at least one further fixed contact element are arranged and these at least one movable bridge contact element and at least one further movable contact element are offset such that when actuated, the fixed and the movable contact elements are all switchable in series.
- Bridge contact arrangements have long been known in contactors, but also in relays. They are used so that even large currents can be safely switched on and off at a given contact distance. These known contact arrangements each have a movable bridge contact element which bridges the two opposite stationary contact elements, each provided with a connection.
- a contact arrangement of the type mentioned at the outset is already known from DE-C-1 126 479, several bridge contacts already being connected in series.
- the contact arrangement of a contactor with rigid contact pieces which are supported by insulating material plates and are biased by means of additional springs.
- this contact arrangement has a voluminous structure that cannot be transferred to a miniature relay.
- Bridge contacts have already been used in small low-current relays in order to be able to switch higher voltages there, too, with the relatively small armature stroke and the associated small contact spacing. In the course of further miniaturization, however, the magnet systems and the anchor paths are to be further reduced. At the same time, however, there is a demand to use such small relays for switching in high-voltage systems.
- the object of the invention is to make miniaturized relays suitable for use in high-voltage systems by using the bridge contact arrangements known in principle.
- a contact arrangement is to be created for such relays, which is also suitable for switching high voltages with a very small contact spacing or armature stroke.
- the known series connection of several bridge contacts results in the operation of a multiple, that is at least three times, contact spacing compared to a single contact.
- the series connection of four or more contact spacings can also be achieved.
- the insulating material covering of one or more of the bridge contact elements which does not require its own connection, provides fastening and pretensioning without its own fastening and spring means.
- connection between the load-bearing contact element and the carried bridge contact element can be made via a torsion bar, so that a tolerance compensation and thus a perfect contact is achieved when switching.
- FIG. 1 schematically shows a contact arrangement with a fixed contact bridge 1 and an individual contact element 2 arranged next to it, each of which has a movable contact bridge 3 offset and a movable individual contact element 4 arranged next to it.
- the individual contact elements 2 and 4 are provided with connections, not shown.
- the movable contact elements 3 and 4 are actuated together by a schematically shown actuator 5, whereby all four contact elements can be connected in series.
- the contact distance a is switched three times in this way, so that there is the effect of a contact distance of (3 x a) between the terminal contact elements 2 and 4.
- FIG. 2 A corresponding contact arrangement with an effective contact spacing of (4 x a) is shown in FIG. 2.
- a further contact bridge 6 is arranged here, which is additionally opposed to the individual contact element 7.
- the two contact bridges 3 and 6 are actuated together by an actuating element 8, which in turn means that all contact distances are connected in series.
- FIG. 3 and 4 show in two views a specific embodiment for a combined contact element with a single contact and a bridge contact arranged next to it.
- the contact element 9 is fastened at its end 9a in a manner not shown and carries a contact rivet 10 at its free end 9b.
- the contact element 9, designed as a contact spring, carries an additional bridge contact element 12 via a narrow web 11, both of which have contact rivets 13 and 14 are aligned with the contact rivet 10 in a row.
- the bridge contact element 12 is fastened to the torsion bar 11 by partial encapsulation with insulating material 15. When switching, this web 11 can be twisted to compensate so that perfect contacting of all three contact rivets 10, 13 and 14 is always achieved.
- the contact element 9 together with the bridge contact element 12 can be used both as a fixed contact element and as a movable contact element.
- two actuating tabs 16 and 17 can be integrally formed on the free end in order to enable an anchor to engage via a slide.
- FIG. 5 shows the application of the contact principle according to FIG. 1 to a changeover contact in a relay.
- the relay housing 21 contains a conventional magnet system 22 with an armature 23, which is only hinted at. This armature actuates a central contact spring arrangement, consisting of a single contact element 24 and a bridge contact element 25, which can be switched over between two fixed contact element pairs 26, 29.
- These fixed contact elements consist of a bridge contact element 26 and a single contact element 27 on the idle side and a single contact element 28 and a bridge contact element 29 on the working side.
- the fixed contact elements 27 and 28 and the movable contact element 24 are each provided with a connection.
- the bridge contact elements 26 and 29 are pressed into the guide grooves 30 and 31 of the coil body flange 32 in a clawed manner.
- the movable contact elements 24 and 25 are actuated together, so that here again the contact distance is switched three times in succession, whereby the switching capacity of the relay compared to a single contact as well as compared to a conventional bridge contact can be increased significantly.
- the contact spacings can therefore be connected several times in succession without connections having to be led out from each contact element and connected in series in terms of circuitry.
