Insbesondere die fortlaufend weitergeschalteten Zeichen werden dabei unter Umständen selbst zu wichtigen Bestandteilen der Dokumente. Da derartige Stempier zunehmend mehr auch in automatische Annahme- und Ablagesysteme integriert sind, ist eine korrekte Funktion der Schaltvorgänge bzw. eine Absicherung gegen fehlerhafte Schaltvorgänge von großer Bedeutung. Außerdem ist es wichtig, daß die Zahlenräder bei jedem Dokument unabhängig von dessen Durchlauflänge jeweils nur einmal weitergeschaltet werden, damit diese fortlaufend gezählt werden.Such rotary stamps are used, for. Um bei durchlaufenden Dokumenten unterschiedlicher Länge sicherzustellen, daß der Rotationsstempler die Dokumente unabhängig von ihrer Länge exakt zählt, die Zahlenräder also jeweils beim Durchlauf eines Dokumentes nur einmal weitergeschaltet werden, wird die Stempelwalze bei dem bekannten Rotationsstempler bei jedem Dokument nur für einen Umlauf eingeschaltet. Dazu ist die Stempelwalze über eine Schleifkupplung ständig mit dem Antrieb verbunden, wird jedoch über eine Sperrklinke jeweils nur für einen Umlauf freigegeben. Das Einschalten bzw. das Abschalten der Antriebsmittel erfolgt über eine Ansteuerung dieser Sperrklinke. Die Sperrklinke wird ebenso wie die Transportantriebsmittel durch die Signalgeber angesteuert, die beim Durchlauf des Dokumentes von dessen Vorderkante betätigt werden. Diese bekannte Konstruktion ist sehr aufwendig und unökonomisch, da die ständig im Eingriff befindliche Reibkupplung hinsichtlich der erforderlichen Antriebsenergie, der erzeugten Verlustwärme und des Verschleißes sehr ungünstig ist. Die Erfindungsgemäße Konstruktion ermöglicht es, daß die Stempelwalze während des ganzen Durchlaufes des Dokumentes umläuft, so daß sie gleichzeitig als Antriebswalze dienen kann. Damit beim Durchlauf eines Dokumentes unabhängig von seiner Länge jeweils nur ein Weiterschaltvorgang der Zahlenräder erfolgt, wird die Betätigungseinrichtung bei jedem Dokument jeweils nur für einen Umlauf in ihre aktive Betriebsstellung eingestellt. Bei der verriegelnden Stellung greift der Sperriegel 52 hinter einen an der Nockenscheibe 50 ausgebildeten Nocken, so daß die Stempelwalze 14 an ihrer durch den Pfeil 56 bezeichneten Drehrichtung gehindert ist. Die gemeinsame Verstellung des Betätigungshebels 20 sowie des Sperriegels 52 erfolgt über den Stellantrieb 18, welcher an einem am Betätigungshebel 20 ausgebildeten Arm 58 angreift. Die Funktion des Betätigungshebels 20 sowie des Sperriegels 52 ist folgende : Wenn ein Kuvert die Stempelwalze 14 verlassen hat, betätigt es über den Fühler 28 den Signalschalter 30, dessen Signal an die Steuer- und Kontrolleinrichtung 32 geleitet wird. Der Schaltstift 26 ist mit einer Schaltklinke 64 verbunden, welche mit diesem in Richtung des Pfeiles 62 verschoben wird (siehe auch Fig. 6). Dabei wird das Zahlenrad 44 über ein mit diesem verbundenes Schaltrad 66 in Richtung des Pfeiles 68 um eine Schaltposition weitergeschaltet. Eine Sperrklinke 70 verhindert eine Drehung des Schaltrades 66 entgegen der Richtung des Pfeiles 68 bei der Rückbewegung der Schaltklinke 64, während sie die eigentliche Schaltbewegung nicht behindert. Beim Weiterschalten des Schaltrades 66 wird durch die Schaltverzahnung desselben die Sperrklinke 70 aus der in Fig. 6 dargestellten Lage ausgelenkt. Dabei betätigt sie den Fühler 72 eines Signalgebers 74. Dieser meldet dadurch einerseits, daß ein Schaltvorgang stattfindet, andererseits zeigt er bei vollständigem Einrasten der Sperrklinke 70 durch Unterbrechung dieses Signals an, daß das Schaltrad 66 und damit das Zahlenrad 44 eine exakte Schaltposition eingenommen hat. Die vom Signalgeber 74 erzeugten Signale werden über Verbindungsleitungen 76 (Fig. 5) zwei an der Stempelwalze 14 angeordneten Schleifringen 78 zugeführt, von wo sie über Schleifbürsten 80 abgenommen und der Steuer- und Kontrolleinrichtung 32 zugeführt werden (siehe auch Fig. 4).FIG. 5 shows a view approximately in the direction of the arrow V in FIG. 2 and in particular shows the arrangement of the number wheels 42 on the axis 40 within the stamp roller 14. Zur Stellung der Zahlenräder 44 auf ihre Anfangsstellung wird über den Rändelknopf 46 die Achse 40 in Richtung des Pfeiles 82 (siehe Fig. 6) verdreht. Bei einer Drehung, die weniger als 360 betragen kann, werden alle Zahlenräder über die diesen zugeordneten Rastfedern 84 mit der Achse 40 in Drehrichtung 82 gekoppelt und in ihre Anfangsstellung gebracht. Die Achse 40 wird vor oder nach dem Stellvorgang in ihre Anfangsstellung gebracht. Anfangs- und Endstellung der Achse 40 sind durch einen auf der Achse 40 radial angeordneten Anschlagstift 86 und einen in der Stempelwalze angeordneten Anschlag 88 festgelegt. Die Drehbewegung des nicht dargestellten Antriebsmotors der gesamten Einrichtung wird über einen Riementrieb 92, eine Riemenscheibe 110, einen in einer Drehrichtung wirkenden Freilauf 114, eine Rutschkupplung 100, Riemenscheibe 112 und Riementrieb 104 auf eine drehfrei auf der Achse 16 gelagerte Riemenscheibe 106 übertragen, welche fest mit einem koaxial dazu angeordneten Zahnrad 94 verbunden ist. Dieses greift in ein auf der Zahlenräderachse 40 drehfest angeordnetes Zahnrad 96 ein. Zum Zurückstellen der Zahlenräder wird die Stempelwalze 14 vom Antrieb abgekuppelt und über den Sperriegel 52 und die Nockenscheibe 50 oder über die Nase des Betätigungshebels 20 und den Schaltstift 26 in ihrer Ruhestellung fixiert. Bei Drehung des Antriebsmotors wird über den beschriebenen Antriebsweg die Zahlenräderachse 40 verdreht. Der Stellvorgang entspricht dem anhand der Figuren 5 und 6 bereits beschriebenen Vorgang, und braucht hier nicht näher erläutert zu werden. Wird die Achse 40 über den Anschlagstift 86 durch den Anschlag 88 festgehalten, so bleibt der Riementrieb stehen und die Rutschkupplung 100 verhindert eine Überbeanspruchung der Stifte. Es läßt sich zeigen, daß für diese Verstellung der Antriebsmotor 90 rückwärts, d. h. entgegengesetzt zur normalen Stempelbewegung laufen muß.FIG. 7 shows a device which allows the gearwheels to be automatically set to their initial position, controlled by the control and monitoring device 32. If the axis 40 is held by the stop 88 via the stop pin 86, the belt drive stops and the slip clutch 100 prevents the pins from being overstressed. It can be shown that for this adjustment the drive motor 90 backwards, i.e. H. must run counter to the normal stamp movement.

Fig. 8 zeigt eine Ansicht in Richtung des Pfeiles VIII in Fig. 7. Sie zeigt den Antriebsmotor 90 und den Riementrieb 92, welcher die Drehbewegung des Antriebsmotors 90 über eine nicht dargestellte Schaltkupplung und Riemenscheibe 108 (siehe auch Fig. 2) auf die Achse 16 sowie den Riementrieb 104 und weitere angetriebene Aggregate, beispielsweise Transporteinrichtungen, überträgt (der Riementrieb 104 ist gegenüber der Fig. 7 um 90 versetzt dargestellt). Beim Stellen der Zahlenräder auf ihre Anfangsstellung wird das Zahnrad 94 entgegen der Kraft einer Rückstellfeder 102 verdreht. Diese hat die Aufgabe, die Achse 40 nach dem Stellvorgang wieder in ihre durch einen Anschalg definierte Anfangsstellung zurückzudrehen. Der Freilauf 114 ermöglicht das Zurückdrehen der Achse 40 mit dem Zahnrad 94, ohne daß der gesamte Antrieb sich mitdrehen muß und bei normalem Betrieb (Drehrichtung) und eingerastetem Sperriegel 52 einen freien Lauf des Motors. Beim normalen Betrieb laufen die eingekuppelte Stempelwalze 14 sowie über den oben beschriebenen Antriebsweg das Zahnrad 94 mit gleicher Geschwindigkeit und Drehrichtung, so daß zwischen den Zahnrädern 94 und 96 kein Abwälzvorgang und damit keine Verstellung der Zahlenräder stattfindet.Fig. 8 shows a view in the direction of arrow VIII in Fig. 7. Claims (13)

1. Rotary stamping device for stamping documents passing through said stamping device one after another, said stamping device comprising a revolving stamp roll (14) having one or more advanceable figure wheels (42, 44) and a switch arrangement (26, 26', 64) for advancing said figure wheels, an actuating device (22) disposed in the stamp housing, said actuating device actuating said switching arrangement when said stamp roll is passing an operating angle position, drive means (90) for driving said stamp roll (14) and a control device (10, 30) for switching on and off said drive means, said control device comprising a first signaller (10), which is actuated by the front edge of the document, for switching on said drive means as well as a second signaller (30) for switching off said drive means, and both signallers being actuable by the passing document itself, characterized in that said actuating device (22) can be shifted, via an actuating mechanism (18), between an operation position, in which it actuates said switching arrangement, and an out- of-operation position, in which it does not actuate said switching arrangement, that said second signaller (30) is provided in such a way that the actuatation of said second signaller by the document is effected by said stamp roll after the document has passed through, and that, in addition, both signallers are control-connected to said actuating mechanism (18) in such a way that, upon actuation of said signallers, said first signaller (10) shifts said actuating device (22) into its operation position via said actuating mechanism (18) and said second signaller (30) shifts said actuating device (22) into its operation position, via said actuating mechanism (18), before said stamp roll (14) has passed the operating position.
2. Rotary stamping device according to claim 1, characterized in that at least the lowest-figure wheel (44) is associated with a third signaller (74) which is activated upon advancement of said figure wheel and deactivated again when said figure wheel (44) reaches an exact switching position, said third signaller (74) connected to a control and checking device (32) provided for counting and comparing the number of signals from the two switching signallers (10 ; 30) arranged before and after said stamp roll as well as for generating a warning signal on occurence of a difference between the number of signals from these switching signallers as well as by failure to reach an exact switching position of the figure wheel or wheels (42, 44) after each switching step.
3. Rotary stamping device according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that said first and second signaller (10 ; 30) are each electric sensing switches actuated by the weight of the passing document itself.
4. Rotary stamping device according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the switch mechanism revolving along with said stamp roll (14) is a pawl-and-detent controlled mechanism having a pawl (64) and a locking pawl (70), said locking pawl (70) being associated with an electric sensing switch as a third signaller (74) actuated by said locking pawl (70), said sensing switch being open at latch-in position of said locking pawl (70) and closed when said locking pawl is displaced via the locking tooth-system of said switch mechanism.
5. Rotary stamping device according to claim 4, characterized in that the signals from said third signaller (74), revolving along with said stamp roll (14), are directed outwardly from said stamp roll (14) via slip rings (78) arranged on said stamp roll (14) as well as via brushes (80) disposed in the stamp housing.
6. Rotary stamping device according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that said actuating device (22) for the switch mechanism comprises an actuating lever (20) constructed as a cam plate, said actuating lever projecting, in its operating position, into the path of a tripping pin (26) which revolves along with said stamp roll (14) and is connected to said switch mechanism, and actuating said tripping pin upon passage.
7. Rotary stamping device according to claim 6, characterized in that a latch (52) is provided for fixing said stamp roll (14) in its exact initial position, said latch being actuable simultaneously with said actuating lever (20) via said first signaller (10) and said second signaller (30) in such a way that said latch is disengaged when the drive means for said stamp roll (14) are switched on and engaged when said drive means are switched off and after the switching step of said switch mechanism.
8. Rotary stamping device according to claim 7, characterized in that said latch (52) and said actuating lever (20) are arranged on a common axis (54) and that said latch engages behind a cam of a cam disk (50) connected to the stamp roll axis (16).
9. Rotary stamping device according to any one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that said drive means for said stamp roll (14) comprise a drive motor (90) connected to said stamp roll axis (16) as well as a shifting clutch (98) interposed between said stamp roll axis (16) and said stamp roll (14), wherein at least coupling on of said shifting clutch (98) is accomplished by said first signaller (10) and uncoupling is accomplished by said second signaller (30).
10. Rotary stamping device according to claim 9, comprising a switch device for adjusting the initial position of the figure wheels, said switch device being actuated by turning the axis of said figure wheels, characterized in that on the axis (40) of said figure wheels (42, 44) a gear (96) is arranged in such a way that said gear does not rotate, said gear (96) engaging a gear (94) arranged rotatably on the axis (16) of said stamp roll (14), wherein turning of the axis (40) of said figure wheels is effected upon switching of said drive motor (90) in opposite direction, with said stamp roll (14) being locked, via the drive (104) opposite to the force of a return spring (102).
11. Rotary stamping device according to any one of claims 1 to 10, characterized in that said control and checking device (32) is integrated in a device for controlling further switching functions of said rotary stamping device as well as peripheral devices interacting therewith, in particular transportation devices, distribution and receiving devices, etc...
12. Rotary stamping device according to claim 11, characterized in that said second signaller (30) is a sensing switch having a sensor (28) extending substantially horizontally along a receptacle (6) for the stamped documents, and, at a predetermined filling level, being impeded in its switching motion, wherein said control and checking device (32) produces a warning signal from the signal which is generated by said first signaller (10) signalling passage of a document and from the non-occurrence of the signal from said second signaller (30).
13. Rotary stamping device according to any one of claims 1 to 12, characterized in that the warning signals from said control and checking device (32) each result in said rotary stamping device and the peripheral devices associated therewith being switched off.
