Description

The present invention relates to an electronic watch which may or may not have a central seconds hand.

More specifically, the present invention relates to a watch whose cog part of the movement is provided in such a way that it can easily be mounted with a seconds hand in the center or without this hand.

It is well known that it is advantageous in a family of watches to be able to propose a model comprising a center seconds hand and the same model not comprising this hand. However, these two models, usually, include movements or at least cogs in the movement which are substantially different and which adapt to the type of watch that one wishes to make. In particular, the plates or bridges have substantially different machining operations, depending on whether the watch is provided with a center seconds hand or not. Furthermore in the case of electronic watches it is clear that the stepping motor does not have the same rate of rotation whether there is a second hand or not.

However, it is interesting for the manufacturer, and even more for traders, that the two models include a large number of common parts to possibly allow assembly on demand to adapt the basic caliber to the type of watch desired by the customer without have to build different stocks. P articu- link, in the case of a ladies watch, it is well known that most often it is not desired by the customer a second in the center is planned. However, some customers may wish such a time display mode.

To solve this problem, the invention relates to a watch in which the major part of the train of the movement is common for the two mounting versions and, in particular the plates, and only a limited number of mobiles must be added to obtain a watch with a seconds hand in the center or without this hand.

To obtain this result, the watch according to the invention comprises for its two versions a motor, a frame, a first mobile mounted to pivot in the frame and driven by the motor, an hour mobile carrying the hour hand and a wheel of the hours, a coaxial hour carriageway carrying the minute hand and consisting of a minute pinion and a minute wheel; and a timer connecting the hour wheel to the minute pinion. In addition, in all cases, the first mobile consists of one. shaft provided with a bearing arranged in the plane of the minute wheel and a wheel receiving the movement of the engine. The watch further comprises a guide tube open at its two ends and integral with the frame, the barrel wheel and the roadway being pivotally mounted on this tube, means integral with the frame for defining with the tube a first pivot axis combined with the referral axis, means integral with the frame to define a second pivot axis parallel to the referral axis, and means for kinematically connecting the first mobile and the minute wheel.

For the second hand assembly without hands, the kinematic connection means consist of a driven wheel on the reach of the first mobile and meshing with the minute wheel. In the case of mounting with second hand these same kinematic connection means consist of a second mobile comprising a second hand shaft mounted in the guide tube and the means defining the pivot axis, a wheel, for meshing with the wheel of the first mobile, and a pinion. These means further comprise a third mobile, pivotally mounted in the means for defining the second pivot axis and comprising a pinion meshing with the minute wheel and a wheel meshing with the pinion of the second mobile.

It is clear that, thanks to the invention, the watch in its two versions has a large number of common parts and, in particular, the frame, that is to say all the bridges and plate, is strictly identical in both versions. Furthermore, the majority of mobiles are also common. Finally, in both versions, all the elements necessary for mounting additional mobiles are provided in the common areas. These means consist respectively in the bearing provided on the first mobile and in bores drilled in the frame or bearings mounted in the frame to define the first and second pivot axes.

  • - la figure 1 est une vue de dessus du mouvement avec aiguille des secondes au centre;
  • - la figure 2a est une vue en coupe et en élévation selon la ligne II-II de la figure 1 dans le cas du montage sans aiguille des secondes;
The invention will be better understood on reading the following description of an embodiment of the invention given by way of non-limiting example. The description refers to the accompanying drawings in which:
  • - Figure 1 is a top view of the movement with seconds hand in the center;
  • - Figure 2a is a sectional view in elevation along the line II-II of Figure 1 in the case of mounting without seconds hand;
  • - Figure 2b is a sectional view in elevation along the same sectional plane as Figure 2a showing the movement with center seconds hand; and
  • - Figure 3 shows in a simplified way the common parts of the movement to illustrate the dimensional relationships to be observed in the common part of the watch.

As can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, the watch comprises a stepping motor 2 comprising a rotor 4. The rotor consists essentially of a permanent magnet 4a and a pinion 4b. The motor is pivotally mounted in the frame by means of bearings or the like, referenced 5. These bearings 5 are respectively formed in a bridge 6 and in a plate or base plate 8. The motor 2 further comprises, of course, a stator which has not been shown in the figure. A motor control circuit makes it possible to send control pulses to the stator coil which determine, in particular, the rate of rotation of the motor. The watch then comprises a mobile transmission 10, constituted by a wheel 10a which meshes with the pinion 4b of the rotor and a pinion 10b. This mobile 10 is pivotally mounted by means of bearings or the like, references 12 and formed respectively in the bridge 6 and the plate 8. The watch then comprises a first mobile 14 comprising a wheel 14a. This first mobile 14 of course also includes a shaft 14c provided with a cylindrical seat I4b, clearly separated from the wheel 14a. The shaft which ends with two pivots engaged in bores or bearings 16. formed respectively in the deck 5 and the plate 8. The watch also comprises a structure defining the referral axes, the referral axis being identified by the axis XX '. This assembly firstly comprises a guide tube 18 open at these two ends and which is driven into a part of the frame referenced 20. This tube 18 externally guides a minute mobile 22 which conventionally comprises, in addition to the tube 22a to l end of which is mounted the minute hand, a minute wheel 22b and a minute pinion 22c. On the outer face of the mobile 22 is mounted a 24 hour mobile which includes the hour wheel 24a and the barrel 24b at the end of which is mounted the hour hand. This switch assembly is completed by a bore forming a bearing 26 which is formed in the bridge 6 and which is centered on the extension of the switch axis XX '. The bore or bearing 26 and the tube 18 thus define a first pivot axis coincident with the referral axis XX '. A timer wheel of conventional type, shown only in FIG. 1 and bearing the reference 28, ensures the transmission in a conventional manner between the minutes pinion 22c and the hours wheel 24a. The watch also includes two bores forming bearings, referenced respectively 30 and 30 ′, which define a second pivot axis YY ′, offset with respect to the axis XX ′ and parallel to it.

The elements which have just been described above constitute the common part of the watch allowing the two assemblies with the exception, of course, of the time-setting mechanism and of the covering which are not part of the invention. .

To complete the watch, it suffices to add gear elements which connect the first mobile 14 to the minute wheel 22b. In the case of mounting without seconds hand, this element of cog is particularly simple since it consists of a toothed wheel 32 which is driven onto the cylindrical bearing surface 14b of the mobile 14. This toothed wheel 32 meshes with the minute wheel 22b. For this, the wheel 32 has a primitive 0 Dl and the bearing 14b is arranged in the same plane orthogonal to the axis XX 'as the wheel 32.

Quant au mobile des heures, il est entraîné par l'intermédiaire de la minuterie 28.It therefore appears clearly that the gear to be added in this case is particularly simple and that it does not require any particular operation with respect to the common structure since it suffices to drive this wheel onto the bearing 14b already provided. The operation of this embodiment follows clearly from the preceding description. The rotation of the motor 2 is transmitted to the minute mobile 22 via the intermediate mobile 10 and the first mobile 14, the second wheel 32 of which meshes with the minute wheel 22b. As for the hour wheel, it is driven by the timer 28.

Referring now to FIG. 2b, we will describe the additional elements for producing the kinematic connection means in the case of a watch with a second in the center. First of all, it should be observed, with respect to FIG. 2a, that, of course, the first mobile 14 no longer has a wheel mounted on its cylindrical bearing 14b. The means which make it possible to kinematically connect the first mobile 14 to the minute wheel 22b and which, moreover, also make it possible to drive the seconds axis are constituted by two additional mobile respectively referenced 34 and 36. From a point of general view the mobile 34 is the second mobile and it allows the driving of the second hand and the mobile 36 is a reduction mobile which allows to transmit the movement from the seconds mobile 34 to the minutes mobile 22 with the desired reduction.

By considering things in more detail, it appears that the first additional mobile 34 comprises a shaft 34a, a seconds wheel 34b and a seconds gear 34c. The shaft 34a is guided by the hollow tube 18 and by the engagement of the pivot 34d in the bore forming a bearing 26, formed in the bridge 6. The seconds wheel 34b meshes with the wheel 14a of the first mobile 14 which in this case has no multiplier function.

The second additional mobile 36 is pivotally mounted by these two pivots 36a, 36'a in the bores 30 and 30 'formed in the plate 8 and the bridge 6. Thus, the mobile 36 is pivotally mounted around the axis YY'. The mobile 36 includes a wheel 36b which meshes with the second gear 34c of the second mobile 34. It also includes a pinion 36c which meshes with the minute wheel 22b. Of course, in the case of mounting with a second hand it is necessary for the carriageway 22 to be open at its end carrying the minute hand. This is why it is advantageous to provide a plug 40 for closing off the end of the road. In the case of the assembly of FIG. 2a, the plug 40 is put in place. In the case of the assembly of FIG. 2b, the plug 40 is removed to allow the passage of the seconds axis.

Enfin, le mouvement de la chaussée 22 est transmis à la roue à canon par la minuterie 28.The operation of this mode of mounting the watch follows easily from the preceding description. The rotational movement of the motor is transmitted to the second mobile 34 by means of the return mobile 10 and the first mobile 14. The movement of this mobile 34 is transmitted to the roadway 22 by the mobile 36. Finally, the movement of the roadway 22 is transmitted to the cannon wheel by the timer 28.

It is necessary to specify that apart from the elements already mentioned, certain dimensional relationships must be respected to effectively allow the double mounting of the watch. First of all, it is clear that the engine 2 control circuit will be different in the two cases. Indeed, in the case where there is no second hand, it is useless to control the motor at one step per second or even with higher rotational speeds. On the contrary, in the case of mounting with a second hand, this condition must necessarily be fulfilled. The speed of rotation of the first mobile 14 will be called NI in the case where there is no second hand and N 2 the rhythm of this same mobile when there is a second hand. NI and N 2 are expressed in revolutions per minute. It is easy to understand that the speed of the mobile 14 is directly linked to that of the motor because the transmission mobile 10 is common to the two embodiments. We can, moreover, indicate that this mobile transmission 10 is not strictly essential and that we could choose rotational speeds to remove it.

Figure imgb0001
et
Figure imgb0002
Figure 3 provides a better understanding of these dimensional relationships. We call R 1 the pitch radius of the wheel 14a of the mobile 14 and R 2 the radius of the minute wheel 22b. Furthermore, R 3 is called the pitch radius of the wheel 34b of the seconds wheel and R 4 is the radius of the wheel 32 which is mounted on the wheel 14 when there is no seconds wheel. Finally, the distance between the referral axis XX ′ and the pivot axis of the mobile 14 is called L. The compatibility condition as to the position of the referral axis by relation to the pivot axis of the mobile e 14 so that the road wheel and the second mobile rotate at the appropriate speed is defined by the following relationships:
Figure imgb0001
and
Figure imgb0002

Figure imgb0003
From these conditions, the following two relationships can be drawn, which depend solely on the elements actually present in the common part of the watch. That is to say that they are relations connecting the values L, R 1 and R 2 .
Figure imgb0003

For each pair of values chosen for N 1 and N 2 , there are therefore two relations which must link L, R 1 and R 2 .

It follows from the above description that, although the structure of the watch remains simple, it is possible to design a watch with a common part of the movement which brings together the majority of the elements of the train and to provide additional parts in reduced number which allow to mount this watch either with a seconds hand in the center or without this hand. The invention therefore very precisely solves the problem posed under very acceptable economic conditions. Indeed, the common part certainly includes certain elements which would not be essential for one of the two embodiments, but these elements do not entail any complex machining. Indeed, these are holes in the bridge and the plate to define the axis YY 'or the machining of the cylindrical surface of the mobile 14.
